  1. Hi all,

Well my wife is determined to lead me to an early grave.....she drove over some fresh paint that had fallen off the back of some truck and now the sides of my brand new 2010 Edge is covered in nice Lime Green paint. :banghead: ....I was able to get the paint of the doors (with my finger nails) but my splash gaurds and bottom door trip is covered in paint too. How to I get those pieces off to wash them???

    Thanks,

    Matthew

  2. I never had 1 problem with my F-150 trucks in my business. The Edge is great car and drive really nice, I do have occasionally PTU drip and that's being corrected on Thursday. I'm very impress with Ford how they handle problems. My brother in law had to replace the engine on his 2005 Camry with only 125k miles, which he had to pay from his packet. If you google any of the big auto makers you will find some people have problems even with luxury vehicles.

I agree 100%! My dad drives a 1966 Ford F-100 still running strong! He also has a 1990 Lincoln Towncar that runs great, my sister has a 2005 Escape with no problems (and she is a terrible driver), my brother had a 1995 Ranger that he put 200,000 miles on with minimal work needed, I have a 1985 Mustang 150,000 miles no problems, my 1995 Mustang has a 135,000 miles and the only problem I had with that is a blown headgasket....Ford makes great cars and trucks but no one is perfect...sometimes things just dont work perfectly.

  3. I agree with most of you regarding doing work myself. But in the case of my Edge i didnt pay an extra $3,500 (waht it works out top over the next 5 years) to do that work myself. I dont know if any of you purchased the "gas and Go" warrenty like I did, but I bought that just so I dont have to worry about maintanance issues. I have enough of those with my Mustang. I dont need another car I have to worry about.

  4. The above problem is common with Ford. And when I say "above" I mean Ford getting something wrong with the first two years a new car (and engine) is in production they have not worked out all the kinks. For example; my 95 Mustang was a 2nd year production. It wasnt until 4 years after the 1994-1995 3.8 L engine was out until they (Ford) relized that EVERY single 1994-1995 3.8L Mustang has had the head gaskets installed backwards. My headgaskets finally blew with 140,000 miles on them. Im glad I waited until 2010 to buy my Esge as they should have worked out any problems by now. But to you that are having a problem now, just be glad its under warrenty as my car wasnt covered because Ford didnt have the same warrenty plans they do now and its costing me around 3,000 to have my car fixed. But Ford isnt the only one with these types of problems. Almost every car manufactuor has these problems with cars.

  5. So far my Edge gets 21 MPG. I am very happy with that. Would I like it higher? Heck yeah. But I also remember that I drive a 4 door SUV (IMO) that has great pick up speed and that I dont worry about my familys saftey in the event of a colision. THose facts make me happy with "only" getting 21 MPG.

  6. Shot in the dark. But it almost sounds as if the battery didnt have a solid connection from the factory. If the connections isnt good then the battery wouldnt have a good chance to fully charge while the car is running. Almost like the factory didnt tighten either the positive or negitive connetion wires fully. Or it could just be a lemon from the factory. I havent had any problems yet, but this will be in my mind if I have any problems like this.

  7. Just have to say that both my wife and I both LOVE the light blue (dont know name) that came on the 2010 Edge Sport and wanted that color on our Edge but didnt need the sport so couldnt get it. Oh well. Again just wanted to give props to Ford, and anyone that has the light Blue color.

  8. Let me put my fire suit on before I say this. Ok. Well if you dont like how this feels why did you buy the car? Now, Im not trying to be a dick, by any means, I am just saying. When I test drove my Edge I made sure I liked driving it, I made sure that I was comfortable while driving. I understand what you are saying about hte headrest. I felt the same way when I first drove the Edge but I was reasured by the fact that I could ajust the seat either up or down, front or back, and change the incline to a spot that I found that I could drive with no problems. It did take me a while to find that perfect sweet spot, but I was able to find it. Again, I am not trying to ruffle anybodys feathers; Im just saying.

  9. After 10 years of ordering Dodge/Jeep vehicles for our company fleet, we have decided to switch to all Ford Taurus/ Edge/ Flex. for North America

Does anyone else in the group have any long term input on reliabilty of the Edge based on 15 to 20K / year mileage. MPG average and service history.

We have a mandatory oil change service every 5K and transmission service every 30K. Should we adjust our service profile based on AWD vs FWD fleet.??

    Thanks

    Chuck

I have not had my Edge for that long, but I am no stranger to Fords. The Edge users manuel stts not to do a oil change for 7000-8000 miles. Also, based on the deal that you get Ford offers no cost maintnance for 3 years on all new vechicles, maybe something you should look into. But being that you are buying as a fleet it might be diffrent. I would talk to Ford about that before you do any work 1. that will cost you (or your company) money that you dont need to spend, and 2. dont want to worry about voiding your warrenty by doing the work youself. Good luck!
