  1. thanks everyone! I'll go the goo gone route. I was afraid to use it since these are plastic covers. That stuff is naaaaasty!
  2. So when the new Mustangs came out, I bought a GT month 1. It was great. Had this nifty my color dashboard. Fast forward some years to now, Edge has it in the cupholder and under seat/dash area. But the dash? Buttugly green and hard to see at that. Now since Ford offers the my color kit as an aftermarket add on: http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com/GfaWeb/catalog.do?prodInfo=Edge~2009~8L8Z_13E700_AA What if someone were to implant these, wire them in parallel to the ones in the car already, into the speedo cluster? Voila, cluster color matches the underseat color! Anyone willing to take a stab at this? I'm minorly technically inclined, but speedo clusters I shy away from. Cheers.
  3. WOW, a rip off in play! $255 on ebay or $239 directly from Coastal. http://www.coastaletech.com/synclockpick.htm So here's my take. If I dont care about all the additional features, how can I attach just the camera? Also - anyone have a PDF of the installation manual? Issue I have with these "hack" solutions is that they usually go inline in the flat ribbon cable from screen to core processor/dvd/nav unit. I really think that's sloppy especially if the 2009-2010 units should take a camera input without fuss or hacking. Anyone?
  4. Hi all, we just got our new 2010. We did a marathon buying spree on 12/31 just before the dealer was closing and actually the transaction ran 30 minutes after closing at that. All that rushing and the fact that the car was literally delivered to the dealer a week before and stored outside meant the prep was "meh" in quality. My really only beef, as I enjoy detailing, is that the shop only "half" removed the protective plastic off the chrome plastic wheels. So now there is all the glue residue/gunk on the wheels, it's cold so it's not budging and I am afraid of leaving it there until summer when I can properly WD40 it off. Any suggestions? TIA!
  5. I've read what I think are all the threads and as of yet have not seen anyone do the 2010. Did the NAV change in 2010 or is it the same as 2009? Please no guessing! Second, I read a thread that we have pin inputs for camera that essentially just need a plug adapter to connect to the camera itself. I much prefer this over hacking the screen ribbon cable (frankly while creative, that's butchery). So does the 2010 allow this unused cable block to be used for cameras? Lastly, how does one program the NAV to recognize that a camera is attached when it finally is? Thanks everyone, I look forward to tinkering with this very soon! Peet
  6. I'd like to put in a vote to lose the huge a$$ you tube embed. On a laptop it makes the forum a PITA to use as the info is always below the fold. PLEASE remove it.
  7. Hi all, first post from an Edge newb. I have thousands of posts on other car forums where I frequent for my car, but the Edge is a new car for my wife so I'm jumping in here. Anyhow, I totally have to disagree with the defensive posts that are saying the lighting is just fine. It's got to be the lamest dash design I've ever seen. While it wasn't enough for me to not buy the car, it's really bad. It's only visible in the dark, and there i have to turn the brightness all the way up and the nav screen burns the retinas when that happens. The picture the poster above has, as a night view, is severely overblown. Look at the fluorescent odometer display. Because it's so "fuzzy" looking, this tells me that the picture is about 3x overexposed. So no, that viewer's lighting is no better than mine, just his camera overexposed. I am thinking of buying a spare cluster and modding it with proper multiple LEDs to get it brighter. Anyone can point me in the right direction? Better still, are there any aftermarket gauge graphics? For example for BMW/mercedes/Mustang I've seen tons of aftermarket gauge silk-screens. Some even have their own indiglo lighting, but some are just black on white, white on black and nice high contrast. Now, onto a serious matter in this regard. What if one were colorblind? That shade of green would probably completely disappear during the day. Hmmm..
