Thanks! After reading your response I went and checked and it was then obvious what it is. I guess the blue is some kind of urethane-like material to provide some stiffness/isolation?

While I was having a flat repaired on my 2010 Edge I noticed this "device" with the four blue "dots" on it. Anyone know what it is?

How many of you are bored with your plain factory interior. I couldn't take the hard black plastic any more on the dash, console, and door panels. So I upgraded to padded leather and a woodgrain kit. I bought a leather hide on ebay and contact cemented padding to the door panels and console, then wrapped them with the leather. The woodgrain kit was ordered from carid.com, but the kit is actually made by Wowtrim. Let me know what you think. Now I look forward to getting in my car. The softness and woodgrain make it cozy. I'm going to post more pictures in the gallery section. The camera flash makes it look bright orange which is misleading. In real life it is a subdued cinnamon brown. The car is Cinnamon Metallic.

It looks like you did a really good job with the leather. I think most of the negative comments are because, like you said, the color doesn't look that good in these pictures.

Well it's official...I am the only person on this site who owns a 2010 Edge w/NAV

I wish I could say that I have the Nav on my 2010 SEL because it's a pain tuning channels on Sirius with the six disc radio. At this point I'd be happy with any screen that was there. I do find it hard to believe you're the only one on here with a 2010 with the Nav system.

I'm driving the Ford Edge SEL 2011 on loan for now 2 days - Originally I was very excited about this opportunity since I considered buiyng the Sport one mid 2011. But after 2 days I can help but noticing the following interior problems:

 

- The front seat head rest is way too canted and you can't remove it and turn it around

- The aluminun trim cornering the mid consol is killing my right knee

- Shifting down in Drive has to be done carefully to not end up in Manual

- They got rid of that phone and wallet spot I like so much in the older version

 

It is a great crossover and I love driving it and if someone had a solution for the headrest I would buy it.

Regarding the headrest, I didn't like it either at first but found that if I moved it to a higher position so that my head hit it towards the bottom of the headrest it was much easier to deal with. I'm 6'4" , btw.

Bookworm, For an OTC wax and wash product Meguiars NXT gives you the most bang for the effort. I use Zaino. Its is sold only on line and is more work and better that Meguiars and lasts much longer. But for a low effort / big bling wash and wax system that you can buy at the corner store Meguiars is hard to beat.

I picked up a bottle of the Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner and a lamb's wool mitt to get started. I'll check out the NXT next time I get by the store.

I didn't think you could do that with regular audio cds - just mp3s. Have you seen this done elsewhere? Is it mentioned in the manual?

My wife has a M-B C300 and it will display info. on it's screen about cds and she has the latest Nickelback cd and it doesn't show any info. about it and is a "store bought" cd so apparently it's a common problem.

I have a 2010 Edge with Sirius radio. When I tune to a Sirius radio station (i.e. 60's on 6, 70's on 7 etc.) that's what is displayed on the radio. If I push the scan button the display advances to show the song title, then artist, then genre and back to station information. When I am tuned to an A.M. or F.M. station this information advances automatically. Is there a setting that I am missing that will allow the radio to show this information automatically when tuned to Sirius radio. It's a small issue, but it driving me buggy.

The interface with Sirius on the 6 disc radio is the one thing I hate about my Edge. I just wish it would scroll the info. even if you still had to press the Scan button to switch from song title to artist, etc.

Just as a heads up, I ordered a set of these on Sept. 6th and they've been backordered twice, first to Oct 20th and as of a phone call today, now shipping on Nov. 12th. I'll believe it when they show up on my doorstep. Didn't have this kind of trouble with the floor mat set I ordered from them.

I know I'll probably catch a lot of flack for this question but I'm ready for it. I'm a rather lazy person on the weekends and I'd like to take as good care of my Edge as I can without having to spend hours washing, waxing, etc. What are the groups suggestions for an over-the-counter type car wash for me to use? Any other suggestions as far as waxes, tire treatments etc. would also be appreciated.

Finally!!! Thought i'd start a new post so people didn't have to keep scrolling thru the past post to get to the pics. I have much better pics coming, these were taken with my iPhone. Hope you guys like. I LOVE it. It turns heads big time! Even i was amazed at how many people have been checking it out.

I was at the Mercedes dealership yesterday and they had a C63 AMG with the matte finish paint. It was silver and in the sun you could still see it was a metallic paint but it had no shine. I thought it looked great but my wife wasn't that crazy about it. It really is a personal preference. The salesman said it took special cleaners to take care of it because it would be easy to cause it to turn shiny if it was treated incorrectly which would require repainting. It was a $4000 option!

That's exactly what I have in mine, love 'em.

I need to get some window deflectors. Besides it aiding the defrost process in the Winter, I use them often in the Summer to leave windows cracked a little when leaving parked. I have them on other vehicles and have always had the stick on that fit just above the window opening. Have seen the WeatherTech though that are in channel. Reading some reviews they sound like they may be a little tricky to install but I am willing to give it a try. Just wondering Pros and Cons of in channel vs. stick on. In channel seems like it may be better??????

I ordered a set from Weathertech on 9/6 and a couple of days later got an email saying they were backordered 2-3 weeks. Still waiting. Of course now it looks like we're through with our 90 degree plus days, go figure.

You're right there MOF. Those are illegal in most states and CAN get you hauled over. Your ride can CAN get impounded til you take them off. Also, if you get rear ended and the other guys insurance company makes an issue of your BLACKED out brake lights, you can be apportioned some of the blame.

The part number is AL1T18K931AD which I found out is actually for the 2010 model year for the Edge, F-Super Duty, Econoline and Expeditions

I installed the 2009-2010 nav unit in our 2008 Ford Edge that had the nav unit with the steering wheel controls. I purchased the unit off Ebay which was removed from an 2010 Edge,

Do you have the part number for the 2010 nav unit? I'm not having much luck locating a 2010 unit on eBay. Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms or something.

Not wanting to hi jack this thread but didn't want to start another so will ask here. I am in Canada, I emailed Sirius asking what their monthly charge is. They answered with a daily etc price. For 1 month it was $14.99 + tax + other fees.

I asked them what the other fees were and how much, still waiting for a reply. Gee you would think they would be up front and say. Can I do better when my 6 months of free service expires.

The PAC radio adapter comes with a separate LCD, will this be needed or will the Pioneer touch screen take care of its functions? Would the less expensive XXXX920BT be a better choice? It does include a nice set of component speakers although I'm not sure where I'd put the tweeters, don't want to start hacking up the A pillars.

Nice idea, but the Sync system is not connected to the Sirius. If it were, you'd already be able to control Sirius with voice commands. Other Fords like the Fusion, Escape and Flex have a direct programming button that lets you type in the channel number, but they all have 10-digit "preset" buttons.

I knew there was a flaw in my great idea. :angry:

Yeah, that's exactly what is missing from the Edge radio, the 10 buttons like I have on my Plug and Play unit I use in my tractor at work.

You know, I just spent a couple of hours mowing my lawn, thinking about this and I realized what I need instead of the nav system is an Android app that can connect by bluetooth to the Sync system and control the Sirius radio with the touchscreen on the phone. That would be perfect and much less expensive.
