  1. That's strange---- I have lived all over the US and have never had an A/C with an odor problem-- I also have lived in Houston for the past 23 years without any a/c odor problems-- I simply use outside air and make sure that the water drain for the evaporator is working properly.

Now, I've fixed several problems for other folks who were unaware that using the re-circulate position all the time could cause mildew to build, and if you wanna see what mildew is, just com on down here and watch that black crap grow all around---

anyway, fresh air and some Lysol is a sure cure!

  2. Make sure that the drain for the evaporator water is open and make sure also that you are running it in the "Automatic" position with the outside air allowed-- If you have the button pressed for "Re-Circulate" you will have no air coming into the system from the outside and mildew will form makingt the smell. Change it over to outside air and spray some Lysol into the air intake on the cowl in front of the windshield.

We never use ours on circulate - always outside air. Where is the evaporator water drain?

  3. Thanks for the detailed reply. I couldn't find anything searching forums. It refused to come out easily and I the lens ended up breaking off the pod where the bulb is located. The bulb was not burnt out after all. When I pushed the mirror over enough to get the broken piece out, I saw that one wire was disconnected. It clipped back on very firmly, so likely it was this way from the factory (I bought it 6 mos old). A bit of my son's plastic model glue put it back together just fine and it snapped back in. No cost but 20 minutes and a few choice words...

  4. there are many topics, but up underneath the mirror is a simple opaic cover with a tab. need a screw driver, push the tab, pull down the cover, there's the bulb BUT the bulb is the cover. the units are 1 piece and not cheap. you can't just "check" the bulb or replace it.

if you search here, you can find topics about how to covert 0 by cutting open - to a changeable LED bulb. but as is, they are like 40-50 per light/bulb/case unit.
