  1. The car has about 53,000 miles on it . It did this a few times,3 or 4, while on her way home from work. So far this year we've only had a couple of days where the outside temps were above 70 degrees and on those warmer days is when it occurred. As I said we took it in to the Ford dealer to have it checked out, that was on Monday. It was due for it's 50,000 mile service so they did that and changed the oil and filter . A cooling system flush and fill is one thing done during this 50,000 check-up. They kept the vehicle for almost 2 days and could not find anything, when it does this ,it does not trip a code, but you can shut it off and everything will re-set and be fine when you re-start it. This thing it's doing happened again on her way home from work yesterday and the outside temps were in the mid 50's. The engine in this thing sets sideways so it has an electric fan to cool the radiator and when she pulled into the drive the fan sounded like it was going to come apart it was working so hard.
  2. My wife is having some issues with her 2014 Edge. Four times now she has gotten a warning of " Engine Coolant Overheating". When it does this the temperature gauge quits working and the A/C will not blow cold air.We took it to one of the local Ford dealerships to get this checked out and to get the vehicle's 50,000 mile service, which included a cooling system flush and fill. They could not find anything wrong ,as it did not trip any codes. We picked it up Tuesday afternoon after them working on it for a day and a half. She called me on her way home from work this evening and said the warning came up again, "Engine Coolant Overheating". Has anyone here experienced this or seen this before? One thing I failed to mention is that when this warning comes up,she can shut the vehicle off, then re-start it, and everything then works as it should.
  3. What HID kit did you use and how was the install as far as difficulty? I'm trying to find more, better lighting to help driving the dark ,curvy roads in our area. At night it gets real black, with a lot of deer crossings.
  4. I have been looking at different options to better the headlights in my wife's 2014 Edge. I ordered a set of OSRAM bulbs from Powerbulbs. I did the mod to the bulb socket so they would hook up to the plug on the Edge wiring harness that was no problem. But the videos I watched on modifying these bulbs to make them work also showed trimming one of the 3 tabs that hold the bulb into the projector housing. I was able to get these particular bulbs locked into the projector housing without modifying any of the locking tabs, although they are clocked differently than the factory bulbs. I drove the car after dark last night and maybe I had my expectations too high but these bulbs do not seem any better that the OEM bulbs. Could the fact that I was able to get them in the projector housing at a different clocking position than the OEM bulbs be the problem? These are the bulbs I ordered. Thanks, Sam
  5. I have looked all over the internet for these particular bulbs in your link and cannot find them to fit a 2014 model Edge, are these the bulbs by chance that have to be modified to work. I have watched a couple of videos on Youtube on modifying certain bulbs and it does not seem to be to complcated.
  6. Hello all, It's been a long time since I visited this site. I came back here to see if I can find some help with the poor lighting issue of the projector beams in my wife's 2014 Edge. While she has complained about it since it was bought new, she has really turned up the heat on the subject since our recent move. We now live in a rural community with dark,two-lane,narrow,and curvy roads. Is there something I can do myself to remedy the situation without breaking the bank. One of the service writers at the Ford dealer recommended HID type lights,I looked into this a bit and some are quite pricey. I've read some of the other comments here and looked around the internet trying to find a solution but was wondering if anyone here can offer some simple advice with a quick fix. While can do and have done a lot of my own mechanic work in the past I've never been real good with electrical issues so I'm hoping I can find a simple solution that I can do myself to make her happy. On another subject related to lighting, this is her second Edge, her first was an '07 model we bought when they first hit the dealership. The '07 model had fog lights, the new one,her 2014 Limited model does not. Without changing the whole front fascia and wiring of the vehicle to add OEM fog lights are there any aftermarket fog lights I can add to her Edge without being too large and looking out of place making it look like she wants to go out run the Baja 1000. Many thanks to all that can help me remedy this.
  7. I am new here to this site and made my introduction earlier this morning. I found this site while trying to research the web for transmission troubles on the Ford Edge. We have a 2007 model Edge SEL Plus, it has approximately 55,000 miles showing on the odometer. We bought this vehicle in January of 2007 not to long after they were introduced. This is my wife's vehicle I hardly ever drive it. I just wanted to see if any one here has experienced the same issues we are having. I have read alot of the threads on transmission woes here and did not see anything like what we are experiencing. The problem started a couple of months ago, what it does is it slams into gear only when shifting to reverse. The transmission does not slip and shifts fine when driving. Nothing unusual about it unless you need to shift into reverse. Then there will be a hesitation and then it bangs real hard into gear ,most of the time it is hard enough to make you think you have hit something. My wife has found that if she shifts to neutral and brings the RPM's up a bit then lets it settle down she can then shift to reverse without it slamming into gear. Sorry if this has been a long post but I was just looking to see if anyone else here has run into this type of problem. Thanks, Sam
