  1. After speaking with Ford, it was determined that this was indeed the alarm valet switch and deterrent light. I voiced my concern that I had never seen it in the 4 years I have owned the car, since new. It had to have been stuffed under the dash or something and once the new battery was in and the alarm started going off, they found it and screwed it to the dash out it the open. I gave the service guy a verbal lashing for not documenting in the invoice, but as usual, they really didn't give a sh!t. As a side note, the battery was original equipment and lasted 4 years, which is pretty good for AZ.
  2. Took my 07 SE with factory alarm to the dealer to have a new battery installed this week. Tonight on the way home from an event my wife asks what is the little red blinking light under the dash? When I got home I took a look. Someone at Ford (I hope) crudely screwed in what looks like a an alarm bypass and deterrent light. The light is always blinking no matter if the car is operating or not. The wires are running up the left side of the dash. That's as far as I have traced tonight. There is nothing on my invoice stating they installed it, but it was not there prior to this week. Does anyone have a clue as to what this is and why it was installed without my approval or notification? Seriously pissed off about that! Service closed till Monday of course.
  3. It's funny (not really) that you posted today. I just replaced the right rear light bulb this weekend and found it was in the exact same condition. Burnt and the plastic bubbling up near the edge of the glass. Frustrating isn't it. REALLY seems like a voltage problem but I can't get anyone at Ford to admit that. What they have admitted is that "this happens to all our cars." Well, that's nice. UGH!
  4. I just took the car back into ford last week because they special ordered the light sockets to replace. They put them on and they did not work. They then sent a guy to another dealership to get a set and then put those on with a new set of bulbs. Took 3 hours. I was sitting there waiting cause I thought it should take less than 30 mins. About an hour an a half into it I asked the service guy WTF was up and he found out what was going on. Peck, what brand of LED's did you put on? Link?
  5. I just got back from the dealer. I have the car till the tranny parts come in. BTW, they said the TSB was 07-21-11, which supersedes 07-3-11. I asked, how does a normal mechanic look at the tail lights and not think it is not a problem. Their response was "well, they all do that, but they think mine might be a little darker than normal". I am with you, at least it is on record for when you see me, tail lights melted and flames shooting out the back!!! Oh, and on another note. I unwittingly purchased a detail package when I purchased the car. So I decided to have them detail it today. When I got my car back, my Sirius antenna was no longer getting a signal. I had installed my plug and play myself and had the antenna on the corner of the drivers window. Looks like they took a buffer to it and it is dead. Just found a spare antenna and plugged it in and it works fine. Next on the list, I noticed that when I got on the freeway that it sounded like they put a cold air kit in it. When I got home I found the air cleaner lid was not attached. Nice. Also, my FM antenna is missing. What a great day to be me.
  6. Well, just got the call from the service dept. Seems my transmission problem was bigger than I thought. they said the input and output shafts both needed replacement. They said there was a TNB out there, but I forgot to get the number. I will get it. Of course, they have to order the parts and will be here next week. On my other concern, the tail lights, they said that they did not think it was too bad of a problem. They are going to compare the color of the lamps and sockets with a tech's edge that they have at home which matches the year and mileage of mine. I told them of my concern that the bulb is not only discolored, but somewhat melted. They gave me a story about how a lot of Fords are like that and how their car used to blow bulbs all the time. WTF!
  7. Nope, besides the hitch, I haven't touched a single thing on this car. I will be getting it to the dealer asap. I will post back with what they find. Thanks.
  8. Last week I installed a Hidden Hitch and T-One wiring harness on my 2007 SE. The job was pretty simple, just time consuming, as others have noted. It took a little longer for me though, since my hitch was bent from shipping and the horrible packaging it was sent in...but I digress. My concern came when I went to install the T-One harness. I removed the tail lights and found that the main light bulbs on both sides had gotten so hot that they were blackened and even a little melted. Has anyone seen anything like this? The only other problem that I have had is the transmission shifting hard at low speed, otherwise I have 16K on it and rolling!
