  1. Moved her from the Welcome forum.

If you have the Nav system you don't get sync turn by turn directions - it's one or the other. Always use Nav - that's why you bought it and you get the map, etc. I don't think Sirius gives you turn by turn directions.

You actually get both. Sync's turn by turn directions are downloaded to your car via your cellphone and can then be added to your nav's screen. I've done this on occasion while driving and the nav database didn't recognize the spoken address.

  2. I'm not having any issues. The system restarted once, but that's it. Also, I don't use bluetooth streaming. I have my iPhone connected for calls and an iPod nano connected via USB for music. The touch screen isn't as responsive as it could be, but hopefully that'll be fixed in an update. Overall, I absolutely love the system and my Edge Sport. It's a fine ride!

Other than two simple reboots and slow screen response no complaints here. Can even stream Bluetooth audio with iphone4 (ver. 4.1) however I prefer the USB connection so I can control and see track info via touchscreen. Have had my Ltd. since the end of September and look forward to driving it everyday.

  3. Actually, the Poorboys Trim Restorer I mentioned previously will bring back your trim, even with the dried wax on it.

I decided to try PB Trim Restorer and while it looks great when applied I am sorry to say that after a rainfall the rear bumper looks weathered. You can see streak marks where where the water ran down. So far I have to apply the Trim Restorer a minimum of once a week to keep the black looking uniform.

  4. I have taken possession of my 2011 Limited for two months now and no major issues... I love it. But just recently, my sunroof has started making some squeaking noise when closed... I have tried opening and closing it back and most of the time, it has made the squeaking noise go away. We have now hit colder weather, around freezing temperatures, where there is condensation overnight and some freezing in the mornings. The squeaking is now more persistent. Has any of you had similar issues with the sunroof?

    Yes.

My '07 Edge (off lease) had that same issue every year when the weather turned cold. It was mostly in the cold frosty overnight/mornings and dissipated as the temperature rose in daytime. Hasn't been cold enough here yet to notice it in the '11. When/if it does, the Sony will take care of it :-).

  5. I think if this was an isolated incident and they weren't already swamped with problems then they would probably be more attentive. I work in IT also and I know if I had a bug list of 1500 things to work on including severity 1 problems and I had customers reporting similar problems I would probably ignore them also in an attempt to get as many of the know problems fixed as soon as possible.

I think it's also very likely that your problem is already known and is just waiting for a fix. You also have to understand that Ford isn't a software company so all this is probably new for them. They're not used to having serious software problems like this.

And even though you did pay $40K, the rest of the vehicle works so it's really just a $1500 part that's not working right, not the whole thing. If it wasn't driveable then the $40K analogy would be more appropriate.

I'm not trying to tell you that you shouldn't be frustrated or that you shouldn't blame Ford - this is obviously a major screwup on their part. Just trying to keep it all in perspective.

  6. Finally got my Edge!! It's the Sport model in White Platinum Metallic paint, FWD loaded with everything except the DVD entertainment system. Ordered on 9/20 and received on 11/13.

I absolutely love it! It looks stunning, rides like a dream, is powerful, quiet, comfortable, and roomy. Love all the features (intelligent access, vista roof, BLIS, etc.). Upgraded from a 10 year old honda so it's quite the upgrade!

Only problem I have is I can't get sync to recognize my voice commands for dialing contact names. All other voice commands and everything else in MyFord Touch works perfectly. I love it!

    Here are some pics. :shades:

Try deleting the phonebook and then re-download it.

  7. I'm probably the weird one, but I don't understand the love of the carousel display. I hate it on my iPhone and wish I could turn it off. One of the first things I did was make sure Gracenote was turned off so it would use the album art attached to my music files.

    So...basically, no I haven't tried it. :)

  8. So, last night I jumped in the Sport, start it up, and the 8" screen was blacked out. Sat there for a minute....nothing. Turned the motor off and started it back up.....NOTHING. No response to touch. I'm thinking WTF now! Radio was off and would not turn on. Tried the 5 way controler...nothing again.

Now I.m sitting there for about 3 minutes and then I see a little backlight. Then 20sec later the screen fires up black with white text reading

    SYNC

    powered by Microsoft

    Performing scheduled system maintenance

    ----------Progress Bar here--------------------

3 to 4 mins later it finished and all was good. everything works fine like before.

So what is this Scheduled Maintenance? The dealer has no idea. Anyone see this on their MyTouch?

Yes...twice last week. I had seen a couple of posts about this so wasn't too surprised. Ok after I restarted engine.

  9. I just looked at the Ford website. It's not on the either of the choices (Limited or the Sport) when you look at the 360° view. It's not in any of the Gallery shots that I could see.

Correct. But it appears it may be on the SEL models only. I think it's much ado about nothing.

  10. I have the Weathertech DigitalFit in my Taurus and they fit great but scratch easy (women heels, not good). In my 11 Sport I have the OEM rubber mats and the are a good fit, tough quality and look nice. The cargo liner ($80) for 2011 has a lip all around to keep in any liquid (2010 no lip) and easy roll up if needed. It has the EDGE logo that looks cool too. My old 07 Edge OEM mats were made of a heavy rubber. I like the new 2011 mats better then the olds ones and weathertech's. IMOP

Is the ($80) 2011 cargo liner you have an OEM?

  11. The picture that was attached is MY Edge Limited with NO air Dam. It was built on Sept 9th

The link to an AutoBlog pic shows the air dam on their test vehicle.

I wonder what is going on?? Will I get better gas mileage if I have the reverse mud flap installed???

I won't have it installed but it's weird that some have it and some don't.

What else am I missing out on?

    wacko.gif

I'm not so sure you are missing anything. That might be a protective flap put on by Ford when manufactured. I haven't noticed it on any other Edges. If anything it could hurt gas mileage being that it appears to be square and could create drag.

  12. Mine has an obvious 4" dam in front of the front tires, cant miss it. Its an SEL though.

They all have the lower air dam that runs across the front of the tires below the spoiler. I think the OP is referring to the pic from the autoblog review. If you look at that picture there is a small dam like piece in front of the tire that looks like it measures maybe 4 inches in length. Sort of like a reverse mudflap. His attached thumbnail is actually a picture of his Edge not the one in the review. My apologies if I'm wrong.

  13. Personally, and this is just my opinion so fire away, but I prefer the location of the '07 hatch release. I don't like the 'corrected' version of the '08 to present. Maybe it's because I'm 6'4" but I've had no issues with opening the rear hatch. Even if it was a little difficult, I'd still rather have that version than the current 'hole' in the gate.

    Me too!

I had an '07 and always thought the hidden tailgate release was actually a step up in design from the current "hole". I never had any problems with it.

  14. My two nickels.... a car is a big deal and a big expense. If you aren't going to paint it some exotic color, wait. If they know you are so anxious to buy it that you won't wait, but would rather put white paint over red, you'll a whole lot more than even renting some nice car for 2 months!

  15. We just took delivery of our 2011 Ford Edge and picked up a set of stock Ford all weather floor mats for the vehicle. When we installed the driver's side floor mats, we noticed that there are two pegs sticking up out of the foor board for the regular foor mats, which has corresponding two holes to accomodate the pegs; however the all weather floor mat for the driver's side only has ONE hole. The floor mat lays over the top of the right hand peg.

Has anyone else noticed this? The dealer double checked the part number for our mats and assures us that they are for a 2011 Ford Edge, but I think that either the local dealer parts guy is wrong, or that Ford goofed on the all weather mats for the 2011 Ford Edge Limited.

Does anyone have access to the parts manual for the 2011 Ford Edge Limited?

I just went through the same scenario.

Dealer gave me a set that had only one hole and that hole was for a hook not a button (2) as in the 2011s.

I took them back to the dealer and he looked up and found the right ones. He had to order them direct from the vendor.

I still have the box and part number on it is BT4Z-7813300-AC.

  16. Hi,

Yes the protective film add a glossy finish but the film treatment (polarization??) offer a huge improvement in direct sun light, no more washed hard to see color, the glare is cut by 60-70%, contrast is increased too but you will still see some mirror effect.

The film is not available under the Edge category .. On the website, under order now by manufacturer, select Custom size product list (Green button), select Ford and Sync display 178 x108mm.

    Regards.

    FYI

When you click on Custom Size Product List (green button) and select manufacturer Ford, the very first model listed is EDGE 2011.

The size for the 2011 Ford Edge is listed as being 174 x 104mm.

Further down on that same list is the SYNC Display 178 x 108mm.

  17. Does anyone know where the key slot is located for the 2011 with remote start? The manual says center console, but I cannot find it?

There is a slot for the key fob inside the center console armrest. It is just below the 12v receptacle.
