  1. Hi xtreme,

Where did you mount that amplifier? is that the floor underneath the backseat?

I had my stock speakers replaced with Kicker KS680's and now I'm looking for an amp that will fit under the rear seats without being crushed whenever they are in a flattened position. The installer looked under the seats when they were in this position, and noticed how the seat bottoms shift downward almost flush to the floor. He was afraid to put anything under there. He suggested I look for the smallest amp I could find (memphis, pioneer).

the one you saw in the picture is my first try to install that 4 channel amp. i just drilled that amp in the back of the seat =]

i drilled the mono amp in the back of my subwoofer box and the 4 channel amp in the spare tire compartment =]

    ps

if u wanna put the 4 channel amp in the spare tire compartment...you will need to buy 4 radio shack ball bearing cooling fans for good air ciculation

[fan[fan|amp|fan]fan]air goes this way ====>..i already tried it at 98F at 12:00 noon in a open parking lot and i never found any overheating issues. subwoofer is kinda critical in this temperature range so dont go over 55 db rms. subwoofer is very sensitive to heat =[

  2. heck no.. all he needs to do now is hook up a few iSight cameras, one facing rear and one facing front, and viola... drive by computer ;)

all jokes aside.. you could actually hook up a camera now that I think about it as I see he has 1 FW port open.. that has interesting potential actually

actually im trying to do a new concept about hooking up a integrated mini webcam custom fit on the rear view mirror

    benefits:

you can be able to chat webcam to webcam conversation=]

  3. okay.. I am a huge Mac fan, been using for +20 years.. so I am interested in exactly what you can do with that Mini hooked up? please expand on that mod a bit more would ya.

  5. Just a quick update. I had to put this mod on hold. My 16yr old daugher is driving my 95 Ford Ranger and it needed new tires. Couldn't let her run on bald tires. The Ranger tends to be a little skiddish because it is so light weight, so it needs all of the good tire rubber it can get. My plan is to still do this later this year (if I can afford the gas to drive it). I am wanting to put a K&N cold air intake on the Edge when I do the exhaust, but you all know that does not exist yet. Funny thing is that K&N offers a cold air intake on my wife's 2007 2.4L Toyota Camry. Go Figure!!! Doesn't anyone on this forum know someone that knows someone that works for K&N so that we can twist their arm!!!!!

i just got mines installed today from 40 delta sries delta flow to flow master super 40....ummmm it doesnt sound like honda now =]

  6. hey.. good details

but sorry, a little confused.... you loaded up and tested 92, 91 and 87 (as you mention all 3)?

In the end, and for testing numbers provided here, you opted to leave in the 91 as your new setting of choice?

On your "minor mods" (pretty important here - I really wish you would have done NO mods so we could better compare a straight stock versus stock + a tune) - but can you give more detail about your mods as it is pretty vague.. that is, you changed your exhaust system?, what did you do to your headers?, what did you do to the air intake? wires and spark plugs are obvious...

how did you come to conclude 10-25 hp range (big range mind you) over a stock system, not having a stock system due to your mods? just guessing?

i did compare running an 87 for 3 days and i did the same having a 92 octane on my edge and my friend initiate the dyno test

This is what i mean by using this programmer

"Standard pre-programmed tuning files are designed for vehicles with minor performance

modifications such as; cold air kits, high-flow exhaust systems, and other basic modifications.

Vehicles that have aftermarket superchargers or turbochargers will require custom tuning,

which can be purchased only through authorized SCT Custom Tuning Dealers. To locate a

dealer near you, Call SCT at (407) 774-2447 or use the dealer locator on the SCT website

    at www.sctflash.com. "

  7. I just got mines installed today!!!

    settings : 91 octane setup

MY EDGE TOTAL HP WAS : 310 HP with 92 octane fuel rating..290 HP on 87 Fuel Rating

    Observations:

    Throttle accuracy is 95% guaranteed

Faster Acceleration by 75% above stock

Dyno Ratings : 35 HP Increase..includes minor mods : exhaust, headers, air intake, High Performance SP Wires ,

and bosch platinum IV spark plugs,...you dont get 35 hp increase without minor modding...average of 10-25 hp increase to those stock edge

    Cooler Engine Bay by 35%

Transmission shift in every 3000 - 3300rpm..but rpm goes up faster this time..rpm limiter set to 5500 rpm

0-60 MPH was hitting 4.84 seconds with power lift running 3000 rpm; 5.69 second with normal heavy stump..no rpm pressure

MPG has an increase of 3.50%..this is base on my edge with some minor modding...i dont have stock info

    good thing about this product

    1. driving experience was very satisfying..feels like it was super charge except wheres the supercharger whine "just imagine"

    2. You can Feel the pull of your edge on the acceleration

    3. You can burn out your front tires more frequent now on acceleration and while turning after the STOP SIGN! screeeettttch effect haha!

    4. You gonna get more speeding ticket " just kidding =] "

ummmm lemme guys know if u guys have any concern regarding my info...

  8. CHECK IT OUT!.....ON ACCELERATION I MUST ADMIT IT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD DEFINITLY DOES NOT SOUND LIEK A FACTORY EDGE GET ONE!! IT WAS REAL EASY TO INSTALL AND IT COMES WITH A SPECIAL RAM AIR ATTACHMENT THAT YOU CAN STRETCH OUT TO ANY OPEN SPACE OF THE FRONT END SO FOR THOSE OF YOU LOOKING FOR A COLD AIR SETUP IT WILL WORK THAT WAY ALSO...HAVE FUN!!

    post-1295-1189030202_thumb.jpg

ill be getting one of these.. but ill pick the new k&n cold air intake soon..and yea u need to install the heat isolation at the back of that filter

  9. As far as smog in CA goes, you can't remove or modify ANY emissions device. Basically no touching the Cats. You also can't change where the exhaust exits the vehicle. I got a smack on the hand for having turndowns with dual exhaust on my Chevy truck because they can't put the "sniffer" up under there and it could interfere with the chasis dyno at the smog shop. Noise would be the only other issue, but a REALLY loud V-6 sounds horrible.

P.S. I love the new Cube!! Do you work with him?

r u talking about the new nissan cube?..its only available in japan

scion xb is alot faster than nissan cube

the cube 0-60 is like 18.3 seconds..with 75 hp engine

  10. One thing I don't quite get is that how did it lower the engine temp? U didn't change the thermostat did you? 5 mpg better? We have the Gibson kit and haven't really noticed much of an increase at all. Do you have the programmer installed yet?

im still on the process of earning money to buy a programmer lol

i would like to order one of the super chip cortex programer soon =]

....im not too sure about the temperature because i just recently noticed that my temperature was lowered compared what i have seen before....flowmaster stated that their exhaust system could reduce a lot of heat under the hood in which it could extend the life span of rubber materials on the engine...the true flow of their technology reduced the build up heat inside the engine.

  11. well done! thanks, that really helps. comes through loud and clear.

my initial impression is that I love the concept, but my gut reaction tells me that for my personal taste/ear, the sound is a bit higher pitched (??) than I might like and and more like a compact tricked out honda then a subtle lower pitch, deeper throaty rumble (??). The rumbling vibrato is there that I really like, it just might be too high pitched for me and to obvious. hard to explain it exactly. maybe more like a deeper V8 sound I seek?

YEA THE HIGH PITCH KILLS THE SOUND...IDLE SOUND IS OK SO FAR..

I MIGHT CHECK GOING TO SUPER 44, OR THE CHERRY BOMB VORTEX...SOON..JUST LET ME WASTE THIS MUFFLER FOR A TIME =]

i tought that our local laws states thats we cannot go over 120 db...my car goes like 85-90 dbi

  12. so.. you like the sound? surprised by it? wishing it was more/less? is/ is not what you thought?

I look forward to hearing your audio.. can you make a simple mp3 and post it with startup of car, idle, and rev?

UPDATE ...UPDATE...THE MUFFLER AND PIPES WAS $350...PLUS THE STAINLESS TIPS WAS $70 EACH..PLUS THE LABOR WAS 150

HERES THE SOUND...I LOVE THE SOUND =]..I GOT MINES DONE AT BARRS MUFFLER WAIPIO

HERES THE OTHER ONE : PASSING BY SOUND

  13. It seems like it would be simple. There are actually 2 mufflers. 1 up front that is one pipe in and one pipe out. the second is at the rear and is one pipe in and splits to the tips. They did us up with the intercooler tips too.

I checked Gibsons website for anything they had and saw that if they didn't make it, you could sign up to get them to maybe us your vehicle. We are fairly close to Gibson and just had to rent a car for a few days. They installed it and welded it in. The kit will be bolt on.

the other muffler was the resonator at the front?

  14. very cool..

I would have assumed you would have just done like a 9424412 or something, but you changed it up totally. interesting. any reason why you just did not cut out what you had and put back right where you had it? did you learn/were told something about why doing it as you did it would be better than the rear muffler with dual exhaust out?

how about that sound? you made no mention of the actual sound difference you noticed? I am very curious about this: louder, perfect, obnoxious, no chnage

did it still just cost you $350 in the end?

FYI, cooler engine temps are not always ideal. For example, in a Chevy 350 I have in my truck, they are spec'd and are known to perform ideally when the temp is around 190-200, going below that hinders actual performance. The dyno results show some interesting numbers for you.

I wonder if the transmission has to adjust for this new reaching of RPMs faster than before in its shifting points?

my transmission shift alot faster compared to the stock muffler..."gaining speed alot faster"....rpm goes 1-3-5 that fast...

my car sounds like a 350z/half v8 sound on the idle but its twice louder...dont expect having a v8 sound on a v6 engine because it has a very small block.

  15. Sweet! thats what I am talking about. please do, it would help to have both. :hyper:

BTW, why did you pick that model versus some of their others?

    finally i got an update

BENEFITS "warning : all information is based on my car performance"

    my opinion and observation

heres the part number lex! 942444

i got my MPG improved by 1-5 MPG highway, 1-3 MPH city

i got my car tested on the dyno and i increased hp by 15-20 HP

engine temperature is lowered than the stock muffler......less than the halfway part

RPM goes up faster compared to stock muffler

it should increase all rubber life span parts in the engine because of its cooler temperature

ex. hoses, gaskets, wirings, and ECT

better engine combustion and could breath better as well

    some pictures

I TOOK OFF THE RESONATOR AND I REPLACED IT WITH THE 40 SERIES MUFFLER

    post-914-1208332475_thumb.jpg

I TOOK OFf THE 2 STOCK MUFLER AT THE REAR AND INSTEAD I REPLACED IT WITH CAT BACK PIPES

    STAINLESS STEEL CHROME TIPS

    DUAL EXHAUST

    post-914-1208332531_thumb.jpg

    VIDEO UPDATE SOON ....

  16. so what part #

when I said tips, my 2008 has nice tips - I know some years/models do not, so I assume if they put back the exhaust outlets, and they have tips on them, they put them back. Sounds like that is what they do and if you had tips, they put them back on as they just reuse your 2 exhaust out pipes.

report back about the sound. I would be very curious how you personally think it compares to the actual sound clip they reference?

ill go ahead and verify the part # and i will make a video as soon they will install it for me..

  17. what part # from that link did you get? I assume something from 3rd column, but which part #?

That is a lot less than the Gibson setup, so I assume it is muffler only - also looking at the link it shows only mufflers.

so, it is just the muffler, no tubing and they will cut out your muffler, weld to your existing in pipe, and weld back your 2 exhaust out pipes (with tips) back on to the new muffler?

it will be just the muffler with the two output...tips would be extra bucks

they will use my existing pipes and tubing..they said its compatible with this muffler

  18. i would get my exhaust system today at a muffler shop of course =]..i only paid $350 for the whole setup.

Ill post some pictures and videos after the installation =]

40 Series Delta Flow -Two Chamber Mufflers

This two chamber design incorporates Flowmasters patented "Delta Flow" technology. The "Delta" deflectors result in increased scavenging for better performance and reduced interior resonance over the standard 40 series with a nice growl outside the vehicle. Sounds great on late model performance cars with catalytic converters. Constructed of 16 gauge aluminized steel and fully mig-welded for maximum durability.

heres a sound clip from a website =]
