  1. I did an AWD conversion once on a customers Eagle Talon.....never again will I convert another vehicle to AWD. it is too much of a hassle. You are really better off buying the drivetrain you want as opposed to converting it. The other stuff can be done although you may run into harness issues. It would also be helpful if you had access to an IDS for reconfiguring modules. I know money is tight but you would have been much better off waiting and saving for the vehicle that you want. When all is said and done you will end up paying more for the options that you want having installed them yourself as opposed to buying the vehicle with them already installed

  2. Good luck looking for someone to post a follow up reply to their initial concern. Seems as most people come here looking for answers, post, don't find the answer they are loking for an leave after their car is repaired at the dealer without posting a follow up. This has to be the most disfunctional forum that I have ever seen.

  3. Hi,

I'm trying to monitor the cam position sensors on a 2007 Edge on an oscilloscope, and I'm trying to figure out what sort of signal I'm looking for. Does anyone know if these sensors are inductive or if they are Hall Effect sensors?

    Thanks,

    Sam

What settings do you have your o-scope set up at.

  4. It's funny that the main reason Ford recommends 5w20 oil isn't listed here at all. It's called VCT or Variable Cam Timing. I won't go into the whole concept of VCT but basically the cam timing is controlled by 2 solenoids that control the flow of oil to the VCT assembly. Due to the nature of this system and it's ability to react very fast oil control has to be within a very tight specification and using the wrong weight of oil can and will cause the system to not function properly. I just had a customer in the shop the other day that had just gotten his oil changed and now the vehicle ran rough and the check engine light was on. Sure enough it was a VCT problem. Not only was the wrong weight of oil in the engine but the oil filter wasn't a Motorcraft filter...yes it can make a difference. Changed the oil,put on the correct filter and problem solved.

The mfg recommends things for a reason and it would be in everyones best interest to follow those recomendations......especially if they are concerned about longevity and proper operation of their vehicle.

  5. They have been making the filters smaller for about a year now. They say it is for easier installation and removal but also did it so they could save on shipping, the smaller filter size will result in the pallet quantity being increased by one layer or 120 pieces. There are no changes to the performance attributes of the oil filter.

Motorcraft added one more fold to the media to increase the filtering media surface over the old design. That means more filtration for the same filter.

I would love to know where you get your information from

  6. The wife and I drove a 2010 Venza over the weekend after driving an Edge. The Toyota, although rated very close hp and tq wise with the v6, was ALOT more responsive than the Edge is. IMO the Venza offered alot more cargo room than the Edge does. The Venza did ride firmer and I attribute that to the 20" wheels that it has. The interior in the Venza we thought was of a better quality than the Edge also....so why did I buy the Edge? I think overall quality with Ford is right on par with the top competitors, I got a smoking deal on our Edge, I didn't want 20" wheels, The exterior of the Edge looks alot nicer and the seats are definetely more comfortable and I own Ford stock so I thought I may as well pay myself to buy a new vehicle.
