  1. Well, it was time to replace my wife’s ’04 Expy. Tough vehicle to replace, since it was a fully loaded Eddie Bauer with 4x4, rear captain’s chairs, and 3rd row seat. She loved driving a “big” vehicle and did not want to give up the room, so I went looking at the ’07 EB Expys. Now I’m telling you, if price and gas mileage are no problem, then the ’07 Expy is the vehicle for you! It was head and shoulders above our ’04, but, the price and gas mileage just made me look closer at the Edge. Once I drove the Edge, I was sold, of course the price and gas mileage didn’t hurt either. Now it was time to sell the wife. She really did not want to give up the 3rd row seat and loved “riding high” but with the kids going off to college (1 next year and 1 the year after) she was willing to give the Edge a try. And boy, is she glad she did! She loves the ride and the comfort, roomy interior and reclining rear seats for the boys, but the only thing she misses is the cooled seats, especially here in DC with the charcoal interior (yes, I know the Lincoln has them, but the MKX is just a tad too expensive). With my ’06 Fusion and her ’07 Edge, Ford really has 2 quality vehicles! Oh yeah, we have had the Edge for 45 days and already have 3,000 miles on it including a trip to Myrtle Beach with 4 passengers and luggage. We averaged 23 MPG which included areas in North Carolina where you could set the cruise control at 79 MPH. :beerchug:
  2. What I can see of your dash in the pic, it looks a lot shinier than my charcoal dash. I have not had a problem with glare (knock on wood) and it’s been real sunny here in DC. I agree with the others, I don’t really like the look of the mat, but I understand if the glare bothers you.
  3. Since it is HER car, I would then become the 'significant-other-stand-behind.' She got used to the reverse sensing on her Expy and while I brought home the right color, I missed on one option that she now considers a must (she doesn't like going to car dealers). I'd really like a factory system, but it looks like I may have to go with one of these after market products if it contiues to be an issue.
  4. Dealer tells me he can not buy and install the factory Ford reverse sensing system and install it on a 2007 Edge that did not come from the factory with it already. I asked why, how would a body shop repair the unit if someone got hit in the rear end and had to replace the factory unit? He says there is a modual on the transmission that comes from the factory on factory installed systems that he can not get. Is this true? Can a Ford authorized dealer purchase and install the factory Ford reverse sensing system on an Edge that did not come this way? Can I buy the system and have a body shop install it? If so, where can I get it? I do not like the after market products that I have seen. Thanks in advance - love the vehicle (and my Fusion) - you guys (and gals) are doing a GREAT job!!! :beerchug:
  5. Looks good tinted! I'm taking my Edge tomorrow to the guy that did my Fusion. Fusion was $160 for all 4 plus rear. The 2 on the Edge will be about $60. They use SunTek window films with a lifetime warrenty. Does anybody know what the tint % is on the Edge rear windows?
