Thanks Kitulu for the response. I guess I should drive it more often and I wouldn't find any surprises. There is nowhere where this information is shown, on the state of the instrument lights daytime vs nighttime. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the reply Paul. It was so long ago since I'd driven this car. Drove thru a short tunnel on the way to the airport here in Phoenix and all was dark until I almost exited the tunnel when the Auto Headlights kicked on. Thought for sure the Dash lights used to be ON during the day. You confirmed it and I don't think that changed in '08. Thanks

Are the instrument cluster backlights supposed to be ON during the daytime? or Only at night? Thank you to whomever takes the time to respond.

Yes, Thanks for the reply But the brightest setting is still very dim. Brightness can only be adjusted when any lamps are ON , parking, headlights, fog lights.

Are the backlights for the Tach & Speedometer supposed to be ON diring the day?. Mine are NOT. At night they appear from very dim to half brightness, before switching ON the interior lights, which is normal. No blown Fuses, checked connectors then the wiring diagram shows a "Smart Junction Box". There it has the wording "Micro", Backlighting LED(FET? Electronic switch?), White LED(FET?). All appears to work except no dashboard lights during the day with lights OFF. Any suggestions??

Hi everyone, New to posting questions! I recently had the passenger side mirror on my 2008 Edge SEL destroyed by a pitchfork on the freeway. Yes, a landscaper's pitchfork on the 101 freeway in Phoenix. Trying to replace it and I keep getting the same question "smooth or textured?". From what I am told the smooth has to be painted to match body color! What I have on my vehicle appears textured except for the dome that covers the mirror. So do I order "Textured?" and if so what color is the cap and does it need painting? The vehicle is Black ! Thank you
