  1. I am coming up on Sheldon's 2nd birthday (2011 AWD) and I still love this car. I did finally upgrade to the v3.0.2 which has better maps, but I preferred the v1.8 I had been on previously. Yes, I was one of the few that this worked well for. My car has only been in for oil changes and the update, where they managed to break my driver side window, so I will be going to a different dealership next time. I have gone 30k miles with this car, so well driven. I would still recommend an Edge to anyone.

  2. Yes, mine had both before the update. Once I noticed they were one degree different, I'm guessing one of them had an update delay.

I noticed this difference every time the temp was below zero - It was almost like one had a negative zero. I was always glad to sit on the warmer side of the car. ;)

  3. Uconnect is a broad term. Chrysler has used it for several years now. It's very hard to distinguish what features you have when a person says "Uconnect"

Just like Ford may still use "My Ford Touch" in the future. A buyer will need to be well versed to know what they are getting.

I hope the buyer of my Edge is not well versed. I can see the Blue Book value dropping a butt load because I have the "first gen" MFT.

Wilson - I seem to remember you saying a long time ago that you don't keep cars long - might be time for you to give in and just sell - for whatever you can get. So that you can go back to being happy with a car.

  4. Dingo - have you noticed that with v3 now music doesn't just start playing from your USB device of choice? I have the auto play selected but even if I leave it on my ipod, it doesn't start playing on its own anymore. I have to actually go to the music quadrant and hit play. Blah! Other than that, the upgrade seems to work fine. No better than what I had, but no worse.

  5.

This specialist said the PIN that was replaced was a Module that is Hardware, not software and that this is part of the Sync/MFT system. She said the dealership has been finding more of these Modules that are intermittently failing. This is not exclusive with the Ford Edge, but with many of the Ford cars and trucks that are equipped with the MFT. She said they have seen handfuls of these modules failing, and since replacing them it has solved these customers issues. It sounds like these Modules are made by an outside vendor and Ford has not pinned down why some are having issues and other are not, it does not seem to be linked to a particular lot or date of manufacture.

It has only been 3 days since we have had all this fixed, but since then we have not had one single issue, the phone works 10X better then previously and the system seems much faster. So if you are still having the blue screen of death, or if you are having intermittent re-boots or having to turn the car off and restart to unlock the MFT you might want to go to your local dealer and ask if they know anything about this "PIN or PEN Module" and see if they can test or replace it for you.

They replaced you APIN - which is the hardware. There have been two issues - some software seems to bug out, but some hardware was also bad. Glad they got yours fixed up.

  6. So the Ford mailing didn't use the database that "syncmyride" accesses in order to check version numbers, they just went with the build dates? If you ask me, that wasn't very smart unless there is something we're not being told. It would have saved a lot of $$ if they ensured everyone with a high enough version received the mailing rather then going to the dealer..(No offense ;-).

I have one of the first 11' Sports, purchased Sept 10'. I guess this means my obsessive mailbox checking is likely in vain. GRRRRRR! I guess I'll get a call into Ford to see if I'm on the mailing list. I've been trying to help them out. In Canada, no mailings have hit yet, but most dealers seem to have the update. I wouldn't have been trying to be so patient.

    I wouldn't have thought k2kelly's 2012' would have been classified as 11A01.

I got a letter saying to bring mine in a couple of weeks ago - I got mine Sept 10 and never updated, so I knew I had to go in. Still waiting for a more conclusive verdict on quality. :)

  7. Grrrr. Well, that's disappointing. Again, I still don't know why it's so difficult to show the correct title and album cover for a song. The iPod has been around forever. iTunes never screws it up. My iPod never screws it up. Why does Ford screw it up? I guess I'll just look forward to when mine gets messed up again.

I think this actually happens when an indexing gets interrupted. I am usually able to reindex and get it back in sync.

  8. May I lighten the mood here by saying that FordGuru just cracked me up with this sentence. I was that teenage girl once lol. I was 17 and had my '79 TA. I pulled up somewhere that had windows and turned off the lights leaving on the parking lights (remember those days?) Forgot to turn the headlights back on and got pulled over. The cop was nice, let me off when he realized I felt really stupid, and batted my eyelashes at him. He should have tried that lol.

The best part of this - is my 60 year old dad just was pulled over a year or so ago, because he was driving someone else's car and the parking lights were on, and he ASSUMED that the headlights came on and that the fuse for the dash lights must have been blown.

The LADY cop got a good chuckle from the whole thing since he told her the whole story. Luckily, no one was hurt but we are all a little better about double checking our headlights.

  9. for those of you that care....

Dealer did some research for me: Older stock (for the edge) windshields sometimes do not say Soundscreen, newer ones do.

They ordered in two windshields to see what they would say. Both same part numbers, one said soundscreen the other one did not.

Ended up going back to safelite, as they had one come in stock that said soundscreen and was going to put it in under "warranty"

So they put it in, and it is MUCH quieter, but he is guessing it is from the leaks they found from the other install.

ALTHOUGH...this windshield they put in has a small flaw of a black piece of dirt in between the two panes of glass....right in my field of view.

They are putting in yet another one on monday...that says soundscreen at least and hopefully no flaw.

Glad to see this. I had mine replaced last summer and never thought anything of it, it has seemed louder this winter, but I think it is more the crappy plow job the city is doing with our snow. I have the same part number, but not the sound screen logo. I figure I probably end up with another new windshield in the next year so, not to concerned. We don't use a ton of salt on our roads, but they do sometimes lay a beach down instead.

  10. From FB...

    Rebecca At Ford Hi, Carrie!

Over the next few weeks, we'll be mailing the Performance Upgrade to our MyFord/Lincoln Touch customers. There's a small amount of customers that have software levels that will require additional tools that only your dealer can provide. Since you are one of those few, you'll receive a notification in the mail on what to do next.

Please schedule an appointment with your Service Department. If you have a navigation-equipped Edge, be sure to verify with your dealer that an SD card will be available for installation. Take a look at the above post. Here's the link in case you can't see it:
