  1. It works automatically - you don't do anything. It just cuts fuel to the engine when possible and starts it again when you press the gas pedal again. Since the engine is still turning over and the alternator is still turning all of the accessories continue working as normal.

This is very interesting. Where did you get this from? I havent noticed the engine ever turning off. Is there a source to research this further? Is it in the manual anywhere?

    thanks

  2. I don't remember where I saw it either but it is just the front door glass that is different for the sport and limited.

You may be right on that. I didnt check the rear doors manually. Also didn't check the parts site for rear window. I got my windows tinted earlier today, so I wont be able to roll them down for 3 days in order to check. Sorry about the assumption.

  3. I was under the impression that the SEL also had the special windshield glass for noise suppression. Do you have a sourse i could go to to verify SEL do NOT have this glass?

Web site notes no differentiation for glass between all models.

    Thanks!

I havent checked the windshield, because I think they are the same across all models. I was taking about the door windows. My method of verification was checking the fordparts website. I checked because I remembered reading it somewhere but couldnt find it again. So I parted out the car from the website and the SE and SEL use one type and the Limited and Sport use a different part number.

If you ever have the opportunity to see several models at a dealer, roll the window down half way and the look at the glass from the top. Run your finger over the top edge. You will see right away and feel immediately.

  4. Hello everyone. can you give a desription on the rear view camera picture. is it clear or fuzzy?

The picture is AWESOME. Even at night. I do not know how they did it, but in complete darkness, the rear view backup lights must be SOOO bright that it almost looks like daytime in the camera view. It is in FULL color even at night. They also have a ZOOM option on the screen (cool).

My old ride, BMW X5 backup camera, SUCKED dirt at night. You couldn't see anything if there was no light around. They may have improved it by now, I had a 2007, but I really dont care to find out now.

Rear View Camera = Awesome. Great job Ford.

It is a MUST and should be standard in my opinion. A great safety tool, one I used ALL the time for parking.

  5. Really nice pictures! I think i'm about to pull the trigger on a white Sport AWD. I like how you captured available light with the headlights and DRLs.

Question for you: I'm a little sad that the Sport can't get HID headlights, and i've had Xenons in various cars for years. I understand these are a fairly new bulb application for the projector halogens.

What's your impression of the headlight coverage and color, and how would you say it compares to HID (if you've ever had in the past)?

    thanks!

I had HIDs on the BMW X5. These are fine. You wont miss the HIDs. I was upset too that I couldn't get it but now I am adequately satisfied.

  6. GatorCat,

I picked up my tux black sport yesterday late afternoon. I have test driven the 2011 limited about 5 days ago. I would say the Sport has a much sportier steering feel, probably because of the fat tires. You really dont notice the 22's unless you look at them. You do not get a HARD and BUMPY ride, like you would think. The suspension is tighter than the limited but VERY smooth. I tested it on road construction going on around me here and it is smoother than my old ride, BMW X5 Sport 4.8. They did a good job on that. The brakes are good but the discs look small when viewing the HUGE wheels, but they do the job. we have highway exit ramps here that you can take at full highway speeds (or higher, very nice exits). I took the ramp at 80 and never drifted, felt like my old ride. Railroad tracks feel the same too, if not then smother than old ride. The seat base is a little soft and not bucketed enough to qualify as a "sport" seat. The back upright is bucketed more and would qualify as a "sport" style seat. The eninge sounds nice for a 6cyl. The sound inside vehicle of outside noise and engine noise is great. Only the limited and sport versions have the special window glass (in the doors) that has the 2 glass layers and plastic middle, for sound suppression. You can really feel the difference when you run your finger across the top edge of the window. My old ride didnt have that glass, thickness similar to this layered glass. Sony is good, layout is very minimalistic and is great looking. ( No overload of buttons, gadgets, etc.)

IMO, sport is more fun than limited. It is not a shelby cobra, it is a crossover; a very well designed crossover. The sport makes it more fun, if you like ripping around corners and shifting and stuff.

Make sure you get the Drivers Entry Package, Vision Package (works good) at minimum. Nav Package and the Vista roof are also GREAT.

CARGO Package SUCKS - Do not get. If you want the liner and bumper sticker, get it for less individually.

  7. Took delivery of my Black Sport this Friday afternoon. Everything was perfect with the vehicle.

For those that might care about shipping. The ETA was for next week, the 23rd., so eta was off by nearly 1 week.

Delivery location is South Florida. It took the train all the way and then trucked last few miles.

The vehicle was built on Aug 30,31. Then got moved to a finisher building (its a sport and has extras needing install off the assembly line). It started its travels somewhere between 9/2 or 9/3 from Canada. So about 2.5 weeks from Canada to South Florida.

    Will post picks soon.

    Initial observations

Positive - really rides great on 22s, shifting is good and very smooth, Sony radio is nice, screen changes are somewhat slow (but better than I thought it would be), braking doesn't seem to be an issue, suspension is GREAT (surprising with the 22s),

    Initial Negatives

CARGO package is a JOKE - dont buy it. get a cargo liner from internet or just order the bed liner. The cover is the worst thing ever!!! I might mail it back to the design team with a note asking "are you kidding me?" Seriously - bed liner is ok, bumper protection strip is ok, cover is JOKE

That is it for negatives - everything else is great.

Ford - really? - I am surprised at the changes they have made. I came from a BMW X5. It is a good design, excellent layout inside, decent price. Very good bang for buck.

  8. I havent tried again yet on the vin site, since I saw your locked and other threads, but it would be a shame for cyberdman to be possibly be punished for the good deeds that he has done. I do think that people may have started flooding it recently. Most people found the site their own way. Once people starting posting links and instructions everywhere else, it seems to have really Popped over there. That attracks bad stuff from management usually, since it is an employee visited site and probably watched by somebody that said something. Cant blame them either.

On the other hand, When I placed my order, I was told 6 to 8 weeks. Yesterday the 14th was officially 4 (yes FOUR) months in waiting (like MANY of us). I think there is something to be said about us few that have waited this LONG and held off just getting something more convenient. Many of us had to wait for ordering to open, just to place the order. It has been long, we have been very patient, they have built a strong product (from reports and current owners that are lucky enough to have their new 2011s already).

I vote YEAH to cyberdman. He is keeping our faith alive and is a Positive representative for FORD. If he gets in trouble, then BOO to Ford caring about customers, especially those patient and dedicated ones.

I am sure that this view is seconded by many.

  9. Congrats Trisha,

looks like a postcard. Very nice. I also am awaiting my sport in black. I am in south florida. It is very warm (hot) and usually sunny, with scattered showers 2 or 3 times a day for the whole summer/fall. They only last a few minutes usually so it can get VERY frustrating on when to go clean the car. Because by the time you are done and go inside and take a shower, it might be ready to rain again.

    Enjoy

  10. Hi everyone.....

Here's some pic's....freshly washed....This is by far one of the best car I ever got.....some small issue with the Sync but for the rest Awsome job people from Oakville...

    Congrats Controleur2001, Beautiful.

If you get a chance can you take a picture from the drivers seat towards the back lift gate. I would really like to see a picture of the rear speakers. It is never really shown in any demo or pics that I have seen. It looks like something in on the outrights.

Also the black looks like a flake paint, not just a solid black. At least it looks like that in the light on the pics. Very nice.

About the sync. go to syncmyride.com and check out what version number they show for sync for you currently. then check for updates. you can field install the 10.3 AE update yourself with a thumb flash drive. It may resolve your issues. They dont detail what the modifications are on that flash upgrade, but my vehicle was built on 8/30 and there is already one upgrade available (AE).

    Good luck.

  11. I am still waiting for my new sporty and edgie toy..... So here is what I am borrowing from my friend until my new ride comes in, since I dont have my BMW anymore.

    post-10023-005237600 1284151709_thumb.jpg

What a punch in the pants. Shelby Cobra GT500 is more impressive a ride than I imagined. Cant wait until the rain clouds go away...

I got a call from my saleguy for the FIRST TIME, without a prompt from me calling several times first. He said I should have delivery on 9/23. I will have to drive in the right lane when I give this gem back to my friend.

  12. Well my Edge is "In production" and "released to plant" It has a scheduled production date of today. It also says that it is scheduled to a ramp for 9/13/10. What does it mean when it is scheduled to a ramp? Does it usually sit there for a while before it ships? Also it is being shipped by Convoy so my hope is that it will ship from the plant faster since it will only have to wait for 1 truck load rather than 1 train load to be finished and loaded. Does anyone happen to know how everything works when it is at this point?

My sticker said Convoy too, but it is currently on a train somewhere. Just an FYI.

  13. So, has anybody taken delivery or test driven a Sport model?

How is the braking, shifting, paddle shifting, bumpiness of the 22" tires, noise level, acceleration, etc?

Have you driven other models new or old to make a comparison to.

For this question, I am more concerned with the drive than the looks. We all know it looks great.

    Thanks everyone.

  14. Hey Livio,

any update on your vehicle? I thought that since you are so close to the factory that you may get your vehicle soon. You had mentioned that it was built and soon to be delivered. Since our configs are so similar, color and options, I was wondering how much you love the car.

Wishing the best for your delivery..

  15. More news... dealer just called me to say they need to keep my vehicle another day to fix the rattles.

But hear this, they told me they will not fix my pry bar that snapped off because it's not covered under warrenty. Can you beleive this... thing snaps 3 days after I get the car... almost kills me... and I apparently have to pay for them to fix this? UNREAL!!!

This is the first Ford product I've ever owned... and so far... NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!! :banghead:

Give them a good "SHREDDING". Glad most issues are addressed. I cant believe the pry bar comment, but glad you didnt get hurt. I have NEVER heard anything like that, everything is covered. Take it up the food chain if you must. That is a HUGE QC concern for Ford. The liability of hurting someone or worse is something they need to know about, not just the fact that it is BS that they said it is not covered on day 3.

    Best of luck with all.

  16. I wonder if there's anything that I can do with a VIN for my Canadian order of a MKX? My dealer has been essentially useless in regards to keeping me posted as to build date, etc (and has even lied to me in terms of telling me my order would receive highest priority and would be placed as part of their first dealer allotment - meanwhile, there's a new MKX sitting on their lot waiting for another customer to pickup. No big deal as I'm not in a huge hurry but I hate being taken for a sucker.)

My saleman did tell me I had a build date of 08/26 and gave me a copy of the DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement). Two dates on that are the order receipt date (07/27 - 10 days after the dealer told me they placed the order) and the DORA processed date of 08/26. No mention of a build date and I am certain the saleman mistook the DORA date for a build date (only been selling Fords for 20+ years but anyways...). But I do have the VIN - but it still shows up on the http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin= site as not found in their system. Should that website (if it works for Canadian orders) tell me the build date?

BTW, does the VIN display "Ohs" or zeros as the 13th character? I've tried both...

    Thanks.

Since you have the VIN, call Ford and ask nicely, they will give you the current status as they can see it.

    1800-392-3673 then options 1,5,3,2

    Good luck.

  17. I was just looking at a local dealer online inventory. They have posted an "estimated arrival date" of the following for each vehicle link below. Their arrival dates have been changing quite a bit, but thought you guys might want to see them.

    9/9/2010

  18. Never said he wasn't correct. Nor did I say that date was a ship date. Where'd you get that?

The date is, in fact, the date it was submitted and accepted by the plant, just like you said.

The reason I posted the pic was wilsons said "My window sticker still doesn't have a date."

I just showed in my diagram'd pic where my sticker has a date.

sorry, i wasnt trying to say anything, just my thoughts to support or help define. I am not a Ford employee, so my guess is as good as anyones. Just adding my 2cents.

EDIT: you are correct, wilsons said "build" not "ship" date. Sorry my mind is on SHIPPING, dont know why.... I am just eager to hear a ship date maybe..

    thanks

  19. I've been using this URL to see my window sticker.

    http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=

The saw the date mentioned elsewhere and actually clicked a link of a window sticker that had the date. I also clicked links that didn't have dates.

I read that the date gets assigned when the factory pulls your order to build

    Hey guys,

I think Wilson is correct. The date you show in the image is not a ship date. I think it is the date it was submitted and accepted by the plant. Not even a build date. Mine say 08 16 10 there and I that is the date that the VIN was assigned. I have been told my build is 8 30 10. And they do not show a ship eta yet on mine (as of friday). That leads me to believe that it is only the acceptance to plant date and VIN assignment.

Furthermore, If you look at the check boxes on the center top of sticker, you will notice that your either has X's in the boxes or not. I think these are inspection, shipping ramp assignments and final inspection checks. Look at any in stock vehicle sticker from any dealer and you will see these are checked. If yours isnt (like mine) then it isnt build or passed or shipped yet. (that is my thoughts only, nothing confirmed)

  20. Hello,

For those of you who have already received your 2011 Edge or got a built date, when did you guys order it?

I live in south Florida and I ordered mine one June 18th and every time I call the dealer they say that they haven't gotten any info yet and that I may not get it till October.

They told me my order number was 4802, not sure where this puts me...

If anyone has any info please share. Thank you

    Hello b2dac,

I am also in south florida. I ordered June 14th. I have my vin # and a build date of 8/30. No eta on shipping yet. What dealership did you place your order with. Do you have a copy of your order (paper copy of the config)? There should be a dealer number on that. You can call the CRC and give them the order number and dealer number and then they will see if you have a vin yet. They can also give you the status of the order, build date if there is one. If you dont have your papers, then call the dealership and ask them what their dealer number is. If it is Maroone or a large dealership with many stores then they might order all cars out of one centralized dealership. For example, my dealer is in Delray Beach (Maroone) but the order went out of Miami and will be directly delivered to Delray. So you should ask for the order dealership number too. If it is Maroone, then I can give you the number for Miami, just ask for it (i dont have it handy right now).

Once you have the Vin, you can pull the sticker up online. On the bottom of the page 1 of the sticker you will see a date at the bottom middle just under the bar code in the box to the right of the assembly plant Oakville (not the date all the way on the bottom of page 1 which is always todays date). I think that date is the day that the order was actually accepted by Ford and is officially in the "system". It can take some time from the order date to entry date to acceptance date.

I am not surprised they have no information for you. I get the same and now bypass them because waiting for answers just frustrates me, especially when they give the same information every time, namely "ummm".

    CRC - 1-800-392-3673 then options 1,5,3,2

Maroone Miami Dealer number - F24002

    hope this helps

  21. mleber, why do you think that I am 6397?

How are you able to access information about other Ford Edge's?

I do know what my VIN is and I only know it because my Ford dealer gave it to me so I could download the window sticker.

    Livio

I saw a vin come up a while ago somewhere on the site and the configuration was identical to mine. I dont see too many people with black all option sports talking on the site, so I thought it was yours with what you had mentioned. I saw the sticker for that car and just ASSumed.... I dont have have access to anything other than what we all have. Sorry for the confusion, but I am still excited for you and now another that have very similar sport models.

From all the pics, I saw only 2 sports. Both were black.
