  1. No,

What I am saying is they can be oriented few degrees up/down and left/right but even that is not enough to really send the cold air away from the steering wheel or my legs.

What I would have like is the ability to close them 100% like the one on each side of the dash by the door.

These have the open/close slider at the bottm.

Vents on both sides of the center stack on the 2008 do not have a closer at the bottom. They cannot be completely closed. Only the side vents can be closed.

  2. So finally I've gotten around to taking a few pictures.

Just hit the gallery button at the top of the page to view my pictures

Even though I've tried, the pictures don't do the vehicle justice. So a few more observations:

    1) A HOOT to drive. Plenty of power; very zippy.

    2) Brakes work just fine.

    3) No problems with door seams.

    4) Dash lights just right at night. (I've posted a picture)

    5) No problems with filling it up.

    6) No problems with right-hand drift.

    7) Once you get the hang of it, Sync works great. Just a note - only phones that have in-band ringing will actually play the assigned ring tones through the system. My doesn't but the default ring is just fine.

    8) How did we ever survive without satellite radio?

    9) X-plan works great.

    More will follow, as necessary.

  3. Correct, the entire dash is black. The doors are edged in black if I remember correctly and so are the door pillars. My dealer has the 2008 brochures which shows the dash.

Attached is a page out of the 2008 brochure that shows the dash with the camel interior. One interesting note is there was a black limited on the dealer lot with the medium stone interior and the dash was not near as dark as the one with camel.

    post-1027-1193006279_thumb.jpg

  4. That is very interesting, I had decided to go dark interior for the same reasons, concern about the glare. If even the light ones now have dark dashes that opens up the color possibilites. Can't wait to see some pictures of this.

Why such a long wait for it to be prepped? You would think they could prep it in a day, unless the prep guys don't work weekends?

I would love to just see the 08 brochure. My local Austin dealers are totally downplaying the 08's. "There's really no difference", "May not have them for months", "We have great deals on the 07's", etc. Except the two big items I want, 20" wheels and SYNC are only available on the 08. I guess they really want to clear out the 07's. Does the 08 brochure mention the "sport suspension" at all? Any chance I can pay you to mail me a brochure?

The major delay is the guy I'm selling my 03 Expedition to is doing a courtesy trade and Monday is the earliest he can do it. I've waited since July so another day or two won't kill me.

Don't believe the dealer. They are wanting to sell the '07s. Once the '08 hits the lot they will have to take an even bigger hit to move the '07s.

The brochure doesn't go into much detail about anything, pretty much just a glossy over view. I'll see what I can do to get a scanned copy.

Oh, and by the way, the 20's look GREAT!

  5. Hi there. So am I reading the first thing correctly?

The camel interior has a black dash? Like the entire dash is black, therefore the glare is fixed?????

if I am reading this correctly then I will be able to get the color interior that I want! I was going to go with the dark interior just because of the glare, but I really wanted camel....

Correct, the entire dash is black. The doors are edged in black if I remember correctly and so are the door pillars. My dealer has the 2008 brochures which shows the dash.

  6. So my dealer called and told me that my Edge was in the garage beginning dealer prep and wanted me to come take a look. It is even better than I thought it would be. Just in the short time I was able to look it over I made some observations.

    1) The glare problem has been fixed. Even the White with Camel interior has a black dash and trim. Dark dash - no glare.

    2) Sync is going to be very cool. I plugged in a flash drive and within seconds I was giving voice commands and rocking! I think the audiophile system will be more than adequate.

    3) The automatic hatch worked great. Easy open and easy close.

    4) The White Sand is awesome looking. Even with travel dust is was very sharp looking.

    5) BAMR is pretty cool, too.

I have to wait until Monday to pick it up. Makes for a very long weekend.

    More to come.

  7. My dealer just called and told me my '08 AWD White Sand Limited was delivered to the dealership this morning! So with a little luck I might have it tomorrow. :hyper:

    I will definitely post pictures.

    :happy feet:

    Can you tell I'm excited?

  8. :banghead: Does anyone know if the driver can listen to the factory radio/CD player on the front speakers and the rear seat passengers listen to the DVD player on the rear speakers?

    Thank you,

    Paul

If it works like my '03 Expedition it's all or none meaning either all listen to the DVD or the CD/Radio. The only way for the driver to listen to the CD/Radio and the rear seat passengers to listen to the DVD is to put it in Dual Control mode and use the headphones. The CD/Radio will still play in all speakers. The DVD sound will only play on the headphones.

  9. Ahh that is so exciting. Cant wait to see pics of yours. What color interior did you get?

I got the camel interior, loaded with everything but nav.

The 22 mpg is because they have readjusted the EPA methods of estimating mileage. It's the same as the 24 for the '07. I think they've lowered the estimates by 12%.

  10. Mine was ordered on 7/24. It has a segment date of 8/20. I'm not real sure what this means; however, below are the particulars on mine:

    White AWD Limited

    Camel Interior

    20" Chrome Clad Wheels

    All Season mats

    Cargo Management System

    Trailer Towing Package

    Sync (of course)

    BAMR

    Power liftgate

    Sirius

This is worse than Christmas. At least at Christmas you know when you will open your presents. I hate waiting!

  11. hi im 22 and i cant wait to get my edge!!im getting it in a week or 2. ill be honest though im buying a car for my dog...maggie, shes a yellow lab...cute as heck. i do have a question...does anyone have a dog that and how does the edge work with him/her? since the dealer wont let me bring her and test it out, i actually folded down the second row and climbed in...acted as though i was a dog (and let me tell you the salesman thought i was crazy!!). soo to save me the embarrasment...again...advice would be awesome!! thanks so much.

I've got two very large black labs and I think the Edge will be just fine with the seats down. I'm planning on taking my dogs for may rides once my 2008 arrives. I'm probably going to get the Weathertech rear cargo liner and will look at some kind of protection for the back of the rear seats. The only negative I have with my 2003 Expedition is the dog hair that gets trapped in the cloth and carpet in the rear, so I'm going to try and minimize that in the Edge. Hope this helps.

  12. Thanks, but unfortunately I need a complete price list.

This is the price list on my '08 Limited AWD

    Edge AWD-LMTD - $32,070

    White Sand $ 495

    Trailer Tow PKG $ 395

    All Weather Mats $ 55

    BAMR $ 1,395

    Power Liftgate $ 490

    Cargo Mgt. System $ 65

    20" Chrome Wheels $ 895

    Sirius Radio $ 195

    Hope this helps.

  13. I finally received my Bug Deflector that was ordered with my Edge.

It has these little rubber bumpers that appear to attach to the hood to keep the deflector from hitting it. This is the first one I've seen for a vehicle that has these. These will be a bugger to wax around and I doubt they will stay stuck on.

Has anyone else added one and what did you do with these bumpers?

I was thinking of omitting them or looking for another brand of deflector. I'm not keen on these cheesy stick on things.

The little bumpers actually attach to the back of the bug deflector itself, not on the hood.

  14. You can store up to 8 gb with a USB memory stick.

With the ability to attach an iPod or other types of mp3 players you will have up to 60 gb of music storage. One thing I'm going to try when I finally get mine is to see if a laptop hard drive will be recognized by the Sync system. If it does then you could have more storage that most people will ever need.
