  1. For some reason out 2011 Ford Edge Limited came with the electrical engine heater option. I did not know or notice until recently when I noticed a cable dangling to the ground from within the engine compartment. It appears that the cable was attached with electrical tape to some clips. All but one clips are gone. Needless to say that the electrical tape came off. Does anyone know how that heater cable is supposed to be mounted/stored in the engine compartment? P.S. When looking into the engine bay you can see that Ford is using electrical tape liberally for mounting purposes. I have noticed other tape gone or about to be gone....
  2. I want to replace the light bulb. I believe it is a HIR2 - 9012-HIR. Can anyone recommend a replacement brand?
  3. I noticed after the summer that the headlights on our 2011 Ford Edge are dim. I have never experienced something like this on another car. Granted, at some point the bulb will go out, but not dim. Has anyone else experienced something like this? When I look into the lens it almost seems that there is a film of dirt inside (behind the round bubble) - not water condensation.
  4. So, I called Napleton Ford In Libertyville since Arlington Heights Ford did not call me back with a quote (although being a customer there...). Strange experience, called the service deck, they gave me the labor estimate and transferred me to the parts deck to get a price for the window. Not exactly, how I envision customer service! In any case the price: - labor $210 - window: $396 Amazing, that Ford wants to make profit on known TSB issues! I would expect that Ford would provide parts at cost if there is a known TSB.
  5. acwatts, Do you know what brand glass Safelite used? I was not happy on a windshield that they used for a GM car. I wonder if they use the true OEM glass manufacture for this... P.S. My ford dealer chooses not even to call me back with a quote...
  6. Ours is a limited. Not sure what the difference in glass is. Either way, should not happen.
  7. I just encountered the same situation. So, it looks like I am out of luck, as the basic warranty expired? Even tough it is a know construction flaw? I am hoping that a Ford CS is listening. I just have to shell out for this kind of repair that are design flaws. I was in the process of buying a second Ford. However, this kind of defects make me reconsider. I just had the Door Ajar issue fixed.
  8. It is a bit pricey. I believe the long-range plug&play part is CL3Z-19G364-B. Online about $300 with shipping, + the hood sensor ($25). Assuming about $100 for activation at the dealership if I did it myself. I figured, I wouldn't save that much. The dealer I use for service doesn't even want to sell this one. He has some after market model. Does anyone know if the bidirectional has the same range (1000 ft)just with feedback?
  9. Thanks. Is the bi-directional like a long range, just with confirmation? And does not need the VSS? BTW. I got some quotes for the long range installed in the $485 range.
  10. Candurin, Do you know if the long range remote start is a rear driver panel installation only as well? CL3Z-19G364-A? Are there different variants? I figured if going already for an RF start, why not long range, as long as it is plug&play. However, looking at some of the pictures on ebay it seems to have harnesses beyond rear panel?
  11. Thank you. I found it. Interesting to watch. I was hoping for a bit more rear-wheel support in snow. Too bad it can't be manually influenced...
  12. This might be the best solution for me as well. The SmartPhone just seems to be too much $ and effort. What is the realistic reach for the 100 series start?
  13. Is there any kind of visual indicator on how much power is sent to the real-wheels and how the AWD is doing in general? Ford Edge 2011.
  14. Just to confirm. If I get DL3Z-19G364-A (like the one in the ebay link above)for smartphone remote access, I still need the VSS (security) module if I don't have any previous remote start or perimeter security. Correct?
  15. Is there an advanced menu to get into? I would like to read things like battery voltage or charge.
  16. I did not use the 2011 Edge for a couple for two days. Stayed in garage. It had the door adjar problem for a while. Today the battery was drained...
  17. Looks like I don't have it. I would like to find out where this module would be installed. Also in the cargo area?
  18. It appears so. There are some threads that indicate that some Edge's have it installed while not having a remote option. I couldn't figure out if my Edge has the Vehicle Security Kit: DT4Z-19A361-A. If anyone knows how to test or to verify, please let me know
  19. If anybody is in the same situation. I believe this is the parts list for a Ford 2011 Edge (thanks to one of the forum sponsors) Vehicle Security Kit: DT4Z-19A361-A Remote Start: DL3Z-19A390-B Hood Switch: BT4Z-19G366-A
  20. I am still trying to figure out what parts are needed for a 2011 Ford Edge to install a SmartPhone style remote start. The Ford accessories website offers it, but is rather unclear what additional parts are needed. Ford dealer parts departments have a hard time figuring it out as well. I could not find any Ford customer service that would not redirect to a Ford dealer. Frankly, why wouldn't Ford to make this easier to get subscription revenue from customers? Here is what I know so far: Remote Access Part No: DL3Z-19A390-B (replaces part DL3Z-19G364-A) http://accessories.f...-asy-10667.html Will require a $60 annual subscription I will also need the hood switch. So far so good. Questions: - Does this require in addition the Vehicle Security Kit 19A361 for a Ford 2011 Edge? - Based on the installation instructions I also need an antenna. I don't think this is included in any of above parts. What part is this? Any help is welcome.
  21. Still trying to figure out the parts list as well. Even Ford dealers' parts departments appear to have a hard time with this. The parts departments are trying to avoid this and gave me phone numbers to call.... Are there any Ford employees on this Forum who could help?
  22. I thought based on Fords' accessories web site that DL3Z-19A390-B replaces part DL3Z-19G364-A.
  23. Thanks. This helps. Updated post #9. Need to find the part number for the antenna for kit DL3Z-19A390-B. Is it DA8Z-15603-A?
  24. TRMN8TR Do you recall what part numbers you purchased? DL3Z-19A390-B and the Vehicle Security Kit 19A361? Also, was there an antenna involved in the cargo area?
  25. So, let me see if I understand my options for a 2011 Ford Edge: Option #1: Ford "regular" RF Remote Start System - 100 Series Plug-N-Play Part No: BC3Z-19G364-A http://accessories.ford.com/remote-start-system-rpo-plug-in-play-kit.html The start button is integrated in the key. Questions: - Do I need to have the new key cut to match my current one? - I am assuming I need to go to a Ford dealer to program the key? and the remote start? Or can I do this myself over phone or so? Option #2: Ford "long range" RF Remote Start System - Long Range Plug-N-PlayPart No: CL3Z-19G364-A http://accessories.ford.com/kit-remote-starter.html Option #3: Ford "smartphone start" cellular Remote Access Part No: DL3Z-19A390-B (replaces part DL3Z-19G364-A) http://accessories.ford.com/aerial-asy-10667.html Will require a $60 annual subscription Questions: - Does this require in addition the Vehicle Security Kit 19A361 for a Ford 2011 Edge? Instructions: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/ford_content/catalog/accessory_files/2011-2013%20Remote%20Access_Truck3-15-2013.pdf Option 4: Viper Not sure what part number. Several options Maybe not-plug&play Note: All options require the hood switch as well (BT4Z-19G366-A) General question for all options: - Can all the options installed DIY? Is there an activation procedure that requires a dealer? - Which install is the easiest? o Option 1: do I need to open the middle console only? o Option 2: does this require to install an antenna in the cargo area?
