  1. Well my streak of never being able to drive more than an hour without a "sensor blocked" warning and having to pull over and restart to re-enable collision warning and adaptive cruise remains intact - twice more yesterday. I get the impression my dealer doesn't really care all that much and isn't exactly pressuring Ford about it either. Plugged my (Android) phone into the 2nd USB port today (first is occupied by an Ipod Nano) in order to charge it. First time I've tried that and it resulted in an immediate shutdown of the touchscreen. Had to stop/restart and Sync came up with its "scheduled maintenance" startup. After which it displayed "The USB device is not supported. Please remove it." Now I need to remove my phone when all I'm trying to do is charge it? I left it in and it very slowly charged - shame the vehicle screen battery indicator doesn't show the phone charging. Kudos to the GPS clock regulated time. Driving back and forth between a DST time zone and a more intelligent jurisdiction that doesn't believe in the "daylight savings" time farce, the clock correctly set itself within a few kilometers of the border. Well I guess it's better to have all these neat features that work most of the time than to not have them at all...
  2. No problem with your eyes - this is a documented feature of the vehicle.
  3. Not directly related to your poll but I can relay some observations regarding varying compatibility with 2 different smartphones. I recently got an Android 2.2 phone (HTC Desire Z) to replace a BlackBerry 9700 Bold. The BB supported Phonebook photos and addresses from it could sort of be seen in Navigation (though Navigation refused to see them as valid addresses). The Android doesn't do this. I've had a number of disconnects/reconnects with the Android whereas the BB would connect once and stay connected. Also the BB was the only one which could be configured to work with (some of) the vehicle's Internet settings. BTW, does anyone have a phone that supports text messaging?
  4. I could swear that if I don't have a tachometer already displayed then I don't receive any gear indication in Manual mode. Can someone confirm the display is supposed to switch to a tachometer display?
  5. Agreed, I'd love to have modestly tinted front windows. However tinted front windows are illegal in Alberta even though I can see many vehicles here every day with front tints. As this law seems like it isn't being enforced, I may go ahead and get 35% tints on my MKX. I'm assuming they can be removed without too much trouble?
  6. There's no doubt the Touch system was rushed to market. The several issues I've encountered are pretty minor but they show the system was poorly tested or perhaps Ford is using their customers for that purpose. But I'm particularly disappointed that Ford hasn't provided any communciations as to when or if many reported issues will be fixed. And I'm not pleased that certain features seem tied to previous generation cell phones. Why have heavily advertised features like phonebook photos and text messaging work only with a handful of older cell phones? If they are based on obscure bluetooth protocols as I suspect, then Ford should be working with the cell phones OS developers to support these protocols.
  7. I wouldn't be concerned about someone siphoning gas. It would pretty easy however to place damaging substances into the gas tank - something some kids did to a new vehicle lot here a couple of years ago. The capless idea is a good one but it would have been better if Ford had combined with a interior fuel door release. That would also have allowed them to remove the fuel door lip and provide a smooth appearance like most modern vehicles. You can however buy a locking "insert" from Ford accessories.
  8. I've had this error and adaptive cruise and blind spot sensor blocked errors repeatedly. On a clean car and on dry roads. Have to pull over and restart the vehicle to clear the warnings and enable cruise control or blindspot functionality. The dealer doesn't know what to do about it and is hoping Ford provides them with some info.
  9. ;-) you're probably right about that. Though the first time I ever saw my factory ordered MKX, it was being scrubbed down rather thoroughly by the kid in the wash bay...
  10. Hey, you just provided a list of most everything that's happened to my MKX! (except I've had no problem with seat positioning)
  11. This isn't something that's all that easy to test, so I set up a test with me backing up from my driveway with 2 vehicles parked parellel on either side and my wife driving her car on the street from one side. The audible warning only went off when she was nearly upon me (she did have strict instructions not to hit me....) So, yeah, it's seems like it's not something you ever want to rely upon.
  12. That functionality is supposed to be part of the system but it doesn't work. Ford is "aware of the problem". Seems the beta testing left a little to be desired.
  13. Donated my MKX to the local dealer for the day. It accomplished nothing more than a phone call could have. At least they could have washed the vehicle... Regarding the multiple "sensor blocked" warning messages I've received resulting in loss of blindspot/crusie control functionality, they have no clue and are waiting for Ford to get back to them on it. Regarding the touch screen button presses activating a main screen instead of the associated function and the failure of any phonebook addresses to be useable in navigation; these are known issues and Ford is looking into them. Sure not like the old days when you could have a reasonable expectation that if your new vehicles had problems, the dealer could actually fix them. Theses are probably all software issues that may take many months to remedy.
  14. Had a virtually identical problem. Pull fuse #29! Bottom of the second row of the interior fuse box.
  15. I'd like to be able to try out some other My_Touch screens cause mine requires some very firm touching indeed. Not everywhere nor every time perhaps but it's not a very touch friendly screen and I've used quite a few of them. I've got a service appointment coming up next week and I've asked them if there's any screen calibration possible. I'll report back what they say. So no one else is experiencing touches that cause one of the main screens to appear instead of the intended function? That is starting to annoy me more than the variable pressure issue.
  16. Thanks, I'll have to play around with that. Need rain though... Been meaning to re-read the owners manual but am waiting for a 2nd edition for the MKX which hasn't happened for some reason.
  17. Another weekend of highway driving and more "Sensor Blocked" warnings on my MKX. Note that these are happening with the vehicle clean and driving on dry pavement. They can always be cleared by stopping and restarting the engine. First I received a "collision warning not available, sensor blocked" and "adaptive cruise not available, sensor blocked" warnings. A hour later it was "blindspot not available, sensor blocked" (with both blindspot indicators on constantly). A half hour later, it was the collision warning and adaptive cruise warnings that reappeared. I haven't yet talked to the dealer about that but it's getting real annoying havin to pull off the highway to restart so I can use the cruise control and not be annoyed by constant bright yellow lights in my mirrors. Also the rain sensing wipers didn't activate when it was lightly raining but raining hard enough to obscure the entire windshield. I checked that they were enabled in the control panel, deactivated and reenabled them, but still nothing. The next day they activated on a very light rain, single swipe of the wipers. So maybe they fixed themselves. Yeah, right.
  18. My screen requires variable pressure in order for the touches to register. In some cases I have to press very hard and it is not a case of insufficient waiting. I thought at first the harder to press times were a result of function but they may be related to screen location. I have also experienced a great many presses whereby the pressed button doesn't activate the associated function but instead returns to one of the main screens, usually Climate. Those are not the result of pressing on the corners.
  19. A friend of mine was riding his motorcycle alongside a pickup truck on a divided highway last year. He tells me that if he hadn't been able to see the turn signal on the truck's mirror, he probably wouldn't be here today. It's really common sense. When you are virtually alongside another vehicle and they don't see you in their blind spot, at least you've got a fighting chance if you see their intention to change lanes. Now if you live in an area where most people don't bother to signal at all, then good luck to you.
  20. Yes I have seen track information with Bluetooth audio. I have a Blackberry 9700. However most of the time I actually DO NOT see track information when using the Bluetooth connection. I do not know why it works sometimes and not other times. I'm just adding it to the impressive list of wierdnesses.
  21. Has anyone been able to get the navigation destination function to successfully read an address for a phonebook entry? Maybe its a problem with not liking my particular phone (BB 9700) but I've tried to use several correct addresses from my phonebook and the navigation always reports something to the effect that I need to check my phonebook entry. I've checked to see that the navigation system can find that exact address when it is entered manually and it is spelled exactly the same as it is on my phone.
  22. Agree with you with regards to the lack of side mirror turn signal indicators. Along with the improvement to safety, it would have helped the relatively bland side profile - as would have a vertical keypad integrated into the B pillar. Ford has done to this a number of other vehicles so leaving it off the MKX is particularly disappointing. The auto headlamp indicator seems like common sense except no vehicle I've ever been in had one either. I'm just relieved there's an auto setting.
  23. Groan. Sounds like a complete replay of Ford's "support" for the previous versions of Sync. Spend a few hours reading the reported problems on the Owner-to-owner forums and you have no choice but to come to the conclusion that Ford is incapable of fixing most of their problems or they simply choose not to. I had hopes that the new MyFord/Lincoln Touch systems would usher in a new level of timely software updates. At the very least the support people you talked to are not well versed with the new system. I would have thought it was common knowledge by now that the Master Reset accomplishes nothing useful for the majority of issues we have encountered. Thanks for the report.
  24. There's a lot of differences, some of them pretty subtle like thicker glass, (significantly) higher quality leather, genuine wood/aluminum accents, thicker carpeting, special air filtering, longer warranty, no-charge maintenance. Overall it a major difference but you would need to drive both to appreciate a lot of it. You can get the whole package of features that aren't available on any one Edge trim level if they are available at all. Some of those are adaptive headlights (HID), cooled and heated seats (rear outboard are also heated), THXII 600 something watt 14 speaker sound system, 3.7 l engine, halogen interior lighting, power tilt / telescope, passenger 10 way power seats, LED tail lamps, independent adjustable arm rests, collision alert, power folding seats.
  25. Now that it's doing it all the time, I realized it must be intentional. Wierd thing was I had the delay set to on initially and it was only after I changed it to off and then on again, that it started doing this. I actually thought that the delay feature was to prevent the rear view camera from coming on momentarily while you're shifting from park to drive. Anyway I got to do some significant highway driving for the first time today. Some interesting happenings; After a vehicle passed me, both blind spot indicators stayed on along with an error message saying the radar sensors were blocked (they weren't). A second warning message appeared just before I stopped and restarted the engine but I didn't see the details on that one. Stopping/starting did fix the blind spot problem though. 4 or 5 times, screen presses on the main navigation screen and navigation option screens "clicked through" to whatever the previous main screen was (climate, entertainment, phone). Got to experience the collision alert alarm even though there were no vehicles in front of me. Turned out the radar picked up a slow moving train rounding a curve parallel to the highway. Not a problem with the system, just a bit of confused excitment on my part. Anyway really enjoyed the 5 hour trip with lots of things to play with. For engine break-in purposes, I used the manual shift mode to maintain vehicle speed while varying engine speed. Found the radio reception (AM/FM) the best I've ever experienced and all the little extras like radio station information very nice. Discovered that, for some reason, the navigaion mapping display is way better (more detailed and colourful) while in a slightly larger city than while in my home city. Can't figure out how the Infortainment display is supposed to work at times - for example some times I can pick an AM or FM station from about 8 choices in the display but once I click OK on a particular station, I can't go back and pick any other station - only the station that I orginally picked shows up on the display.
