  1. I had this happen when selecting to use GPS time. Daylight Savings time option will also affect it of course. Tonight I had the rear-view camera stay on while in Drive. Once I drove a hundred feet or so it went off. It's a bit disconcerting... I've found that using the steering wheel seek button while listening to Sirius causes the console Tune control to stop working for a short time.
  2. There's no gold trim in my MKX nor any other that I'm aware of. The dash/door panels are a weave aluminum in the base, real wood walnut or ash in the mid-level and a special aluminum in the Limited. Personally I find even real wood trim in a vehicle looks terribly dated and avoid it if at all possible. The plasti-wood on the Edge is a good implementation compared to plasti-wood trim in some other vehicles but that's the only good thing I can say about it.
  3. So you don't receive any Sirius broadcasts at any time of the day? I thought Sirius satellite orbits got pretty close to Alaska. XM satellite orbits mean you don't get that service much north of Edmonton.
  4. Being in Canada, I think I can safely add HD Radio to Sync Services and Sirius Travel Link as features I'll never get to experience. I believe there are exactly zero HD radio stations in the entire country and there are no plans to add any. But it sounds like a great idea...
  5. Before doing anything else I would recommend rebooting the Sync system by pulling fuse #29. Worked wonders for me, albeit with regards to bluetooth connectivity.
  6. I expect that if the current temperature is a long ways from the MyTemp setting, the fan speed will adjust accordingly. I know that fan speed is one of the variables controlled by the "Auto" setting.
  7. I definitely have to press real firm for most of the touchscreen functions. Much firmer than I think should be necessary but perhaps that problem is better than it being too light a touch. Wonder if there's any screen calibration things the dealer can do?
  8. I've found that if the wind is blowing from a particular direction it can be very difficult to close the door without leaning forward and putting a lot of effort into it. I do not understand in the least how such a fundamental design decision (to not place a hand hold in the armrest) could have been made. But in case you're wondering, I still love my MKX....
  9. Thanks Wilsons. I found that screen in another location (bluetooth settings) and you can configure DUN and PAN and a few other things. But the bottom line is they do nothing useful yet. Thank goodness for fuse #29! Because without pulling it, it seems impossible to fix the Sync not reconnecting with your phone. My BB 9700 worked perfectly fine for 2 days and then Sync decided it wasn't going to connect with it no matter what. Wasted way to much time with the Sync and phone options before doing the fuse thing which fixed it immediately upon reboot. Though now my phone, which used to pair with "Sync" now pairs with "BCM4325D1 26 MHz Class 1.5 for Apollo2 board". What's up with that? Just hope rebooting doesn't become a daily occurance...
  10. Anyone gone ahead and installed new tires/wheels without the TPMS sensor? I know there's no chime to annoy you all winter but would the "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault" system warning message block out the message center functionality or would that just be a temporary message?
  11. I've only had my MKX a couple of days and I've been hesitant to give my impressions of the navigation system as I haven't fully studied it yet ... but I can't say I am impressed with it. While it may have a really pretty 3D display of major American cities like the Ford commercials show, the map display in my part of Canada is pretty dreadful. It shows ONE highway outside of my city (the TransCanada) unless I zoom in all the way to 250m. It doesn't even show provincial boundaries! Worse still is that I can't scroll the display any real distance due to the heavy push required and the inconsistant responsiveness of the LCD screen. I haven't yet figured out how to simply find a city/town unless I know of a valid street address in that city. The turn list display is thumbnail only. At any zoom range, if you have POIs enabled then the rest of the display is pretty much obliterated due to their size. And the fact that it announces upcoming turns in miles while the system is set to metric tells me Ford probably didn't spend a lot of effort testing it in Canada. Navigation voice commands are extensive but I've had more problems with voice recognition on it than the rest of the MyLincoln Touch system. One nice feature is the good navigation functionality available from the infotainment controls on the steering wheel and smal LCD. I haven't yet looked at how up to date the maps are in new development areas but I can't say I'm optimistic. Now I'm actually really pleased with my MKX and the MyLincoln Touch overall but the usefulness of the navigation system is far less than my 3 year old Garmin or the Google maps on my tiny smartphone screen.
  12. Canadian MKX Ltd edition, all options except rear DVD: paid $48892, MSRP $58149 (including tax). Missed out on the $1000 Costco credit as the vehicle didn't arrive by the end of September as "promised". After being told there were only 2 dates that are important as far as incentives go - the order date and the received date - I discover that I could have gone in at any time during the 12 week wait and finalized the price/incentives. Which I would have done prior to the end of September as I knew employee pricing would end then and I could have used the Costco credit. And yes, my salesman was useless.
  13. Can someone tell me what they see under Menu/Settings/Wireless Internet/Bluetooth App/Internet Data Connection? The first time I went there there was a lot of information that briefly displayed on the screen but ever since then that screen has just been blank. Any idea what an Internet Data Connection is going to provide? BTW, this is on an MKX with a connected smartphone. I am very impressed with the MyLincoln Touch system so far. It's been far less flakey than I feared it might be. I do feel I have to press too hard on the screen and there has been times when the back arrow function while in Settings goes all the way back to the phone menu instead of the previous settings screen but nothing serious.
  14. The emergency flasher problem has been mentioned ever since the very first reviewers got their hands on the car. Because it is a touch sensitive switch located exactly where one is likely to rest your hand while using the touch screen, it really IS a design flaw. Anyone know if there's a dedicated fuse for it? Maybe some kind of cover for it could be designed.
  15. I guess that is an option though I don't know where exactly I would have them shipped to. I could have them shipped to a recommended installer in probably Great Falls MT, but then I don't need the installer to actually install anything - I would have Tire Rack put the tires on the rim and balance them and I would put the winters on myself when needed. So my question is what's in it for the installer? But it is a good excuse for a road trip! Thanks.
  16. My MKX arrived yesterday after 12 weeks of waiting. Unfortunately I'll be away from home until Saturday so I have to remain patient. I'll be interested in seeing what the "Earth Metallic" colour actually looks like (not to mention what the rest of the vehicle looks like since I never had the opportunity to actually be inside one...). My wife got a look at the car though - she was pretty impressed with what little of the technology the salesman showed her. Not so impressed with the colour I'm afraid. But Limited models only have a choice of 4 colours (white, black, silver and brown). I refuse to add to world's overpopulation of silver vehicles and white is not for me. Black is nice but I'm not the type to clean it everyday. So that leaves the brown. Wish it had been available in Kona blue though. BTW, why does the US Lincoln site call that colour "Earth Pearl"? Isn't there a fundamental difference between metallic and pearl?
  17. Seems to me that the tires are the easy choice but finding rims that fit and are more appealing than plain steel but still reasonable cost is the hard part. Has anyone has bought Edge or other make 18" rims at a Ford dealer to use for dedicated winter tires? Unfortunately Tirerack shipping charges for me are prohibitive.
  18. Since we don't get Sync Traffic, Directions and Information, we won't be getting Google maps. Besides 911, are there any Sync services that work for Canadians?
  19. ?? You can be next door to the factory but you will still pay the exact same shipping cost as everyone else in Canada - which is about 50% more than what Americans pay...
  20. It's possible to place a certain amount of increased "safety" with AWD based on the principle of not getting stuck (while remembering the old adage of getting stuck farther and deeper than you would have otherwise). I know that without it I'd often be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a long walk in front of me. It appears that Ford's AWD system is not going to provide much of a benefit to handling/performance. But to say categorically it never helps would be wrong - it most definitely helps in more sophisticated designs found in Accura and all the German manufacturers.
  21. No doubt there's a large number of people who have AWD but don't need it. But it could simply be a case of better to have it and not need than to need it and not have it. As for myself, I have no choice. Without AWD I would often be unable to reach my farm over the last mile of dirt (i.e. Mud) road. But even if it wasn't for that, I think I'd still opt for AWD simply because I have a low tolerance for torque steer. That and the fact that I've had AWD/4WD vehicles for the last 15 years and I've gotten used to the ability to go where I want to without worrying too much about getting stuck. Oh and the fact that in Canada, every MKX is AWD. What I'd really like is to find is a more technical reference to Ford's current AWD system. I know it's more than a simple reactive transfer of power to the rear wheels but I don't know if it's on the level of, say, Acura's system where the outside wheel can turn at a different speed than the inside wheel on the same axle. That system is a great aid to dry pavement handling.
  22. Perhaps it's different in the States but every factory order I've been involved with or read about provides the customer with the better of the incentives/rebates available at time of order or at time of delivery. It the only fair way to do it.
  23. You can post in this thread with your VIN if you have at least 10 posts on the blue oval forums: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/forum/80-vehicle-locator-by-ford-employees
  24. These "extras" are called Additional Dealer Profit. Quite simply , virtually every one are either something you don't want, don't need, or can be found for far less elsewhere.
