  1. First, I am a retired Ford employee after 30 years. My wife and I decided to order a new Edge. Went to the Fairlane Ford Dealer here in Dearborn, Mi. She picked the color she wanted 'Creme Brulee, exterior and camel cloth interior. Well, the 2007 in stock was there, but not with the items we wanted. So, they brought us a 2008. Same requirements. NOT! For some reason the dashboard was BLACK? I asked the salesman and he said it's because of the glare off the dash complaints. Well, we didn't buy the Edge.

I would like to know why someone would throw in a BLACK dash with a camel interior? What is wrong with a dark tan or darker brown? It looks STUPID. It distracts from the style of this new vehicle.

Whoever made the decision to go black obviously doesn't have any taste in car color combinations.

I would not recommed a new Edge for anyone for this reason.

I will be ordering a new F-150 in a few weeks. I hope to God that isn't the same issue with the trucks. If so, then Ford will miss out on another sale.

?? First you wanted certain options, the '07 didn't have what you wanted, so because your mad, you will get a pick-up. Oh well, hope your holiday goes well for you.

  2. I have 2500+ miles on 2008 Limited and today the power lift gate won't close. Neither the interior buttons nor the key fob will make it stay down. It starts to close and then opens again. I'm afraid to manually force it. Any ideas?

Not enought info.. You writing this from home or work? Is the rear door sticking up in your garage or outside?

You just clicked the fob or interior buttons and it jerked a few times and didn't move or?

Frozen , warm? You need to manually force it if you plan on trying to take it in to get fixed. Probably all it needs to get sync'ed back into normal operation.

  3. Where are they making the Edge in the USA ? (if at all). It looks like the Oakville plant is doing a 3 week turn around on orders so 8-10 weeks seems a little long if its sourced in the Eastern USA.

There Not, Canada is the only place. But you have to also say exactly what options you got. How many were ordered? Everyone exactly alike? Same color? 100 vehicles? Was this order a cyclic one? IE - each year the company places a 100 car order for the same SE red model's etc.? Since you are 10 miles from the plant does make a difference.

Almost every other N. American manufacturer averages about 6 weeks from the time a person walks in the door, to when a car shows on the lot. That's not all that long. But also consider that train shipments have to be scheduled and that does add to delivery time to each coast and points in between. Not every vehicle leaves the plant on a car carrier to each dealership.

  4. We just went to the dealer 400 miles on the car, bad power steering belt, it was sqeaking bad. Got it back seems fine . By the way it is red with 6/07 biuld date !!!

I thought their was only one belt on this engine, a serpentine belt. Was that all that was replaced? Or a P.S. Pump.

  5. I'm gonna add something here..

I posted a reply once on carspace dot whatever; Man asked if the hand hole in the door pull of an Edge was right where his elbow would be. He said he just looked in it and wondered...

I replied.. you just looked in it huh? hummmmmmmm . That was it...no more.. no less. Guess I embarased him for asking A STUPID QUESTION, WITHOUT TELLING HIM HE DID.

You know what... that post was deleted... why? because he replied back something, and they deleted his post, and it made mine an orphan...

Moral: CENSORSHIP.. plain and simple.. know what else? Not many people write there. and if they do .. it's so dry and stale like some posts here, it's not worth stopping by to even browse.

  6. YOU GUYS MAKE IT EASY TO ABANDED THIS WEB SITE. I don't put up with this bull on our sits.

whatever YOUR sits is , isn't where I want to bee's.

    Buh bi

But first what are you trying to say?

Did you happen to look where you were before you posted? I doubt it.

    but once again, Buh bi

  7. Yes, I have seen that picture on Ford's site. They appear to be 18" wheels, but I could be wrong. I would like to see other pics of that combo if possible.

    Thanks

IF you hadn't of posted the question in 2 different threads, you wouldn't have to bounce around looking for the answer.

It was answered in your other thread.

  8. Does anyone else find this question useful?

The reason I am asking is because I plan on writing a review of the MKX soon and I had written a review of the Edge back in July. I'm just trying to determine if comparing the two cars is valuable to other readers.

For those of you who are interested, read the review by clicking on the link below

    Derek

I just saw your "Review". Pathetic and NO excuse.

Look at the date you write this question, then the date you do your review. In that time, you've had enough time to at least look over the vehicle, BUT you get a 2 month out of production '07 and talk about that after the '08's are out. You also can't seem to get some facts correct. Basically what you've done and it was so evident, you just read some other articles and went with their info. Glad I saw this, now I can see your bias. THAT was no independent review sir. Your like a lot of journalist's, you have so many words of copy to submit each week/month to justify getting paid. Stick to your imports.. Guess you can't recognize the fact that this model is one hot seller, and it's keeping a plant in full production, just trying to make enough.

  9. Are you actually trying to be different or just stupid?

WHERE do you come off in the video calling this thru out it a MARK 10? AFTER it's been on the market for 11 months.

Then you change calling it to a MKX.

Nov. 29 and it's an 07 model. The '08's have been out for (2) TWO months.

    Dome lights are NOT LED's.

you bounce back and forth between calling it a Mark 10 and MKX then Aviator.

Your so far out of touch it's ridiculous. You say the Edge doesn't have a rear lift gate.. Say that to a few people on this site and see what they tell you.

MAN Dump this video and start over.

  11. The MKS will be a sedan, and if you can wait even longer past the release date, they will have the new Ford Twin Turbo engine in that sucker, but they aren't really the same, maybe the MKX redesign will copy some of the interior trim ques.

LIMA ENGINE READIES FOR MKS ENGINE PRODUCTION

LIMA, OHIO, Dec. 6, 2007 – The Lima Engine Plant is preparing for the production this spring of the new 3.7-liter V-6 engine that will power the all-new Lincoln MKS sedan.

To ensure top quality and assembly readiness, the plant – in conjunction with the University of Northwestern Ohio – is training employees in a unique two-day hands-on engine build class.

The current class, taught by Mike White, technology instructor at the University of Northwestern Ohio, gives employees – hourly and salaried – an opportunity to learn about the engine piece-by-piece before assembling it on the line.

Plant Manager Adrian Price said the end result will be realized in the engine's high quality.

"If people understand what they are putting together, they can do a better job. As a result, the quality of the engine build is improved," explained Price. "They also understand how their actions during machining and assembly affect the customer and their satisfaction of the powertrain."

The new 3.7-liter engine is exclusive to Lincoln and is derived from the 3.5-liter V-6, which is also produced at Lima Engine. The 3.5-liter engine was voted one of Ward's 10-Best Engines for 2007 and shares the majority of its parts with its larger cousin.

Both engines use the same strong, die-cast aluminum block and lightweight, four-valve heads for smooth operation at high RPMs. Larger cylinders help the 3.7-liter V-6 produce 270 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque.

Following the classroom session, the media toured the plant, stopping in the crankshaft machining and piston-stuffing areas.

Lima, which employs 734 employees, recently became one of the few major U.S. powertrain facilities to test at low enough noise levels to allow employees to forego hearing protection.

The plant also uses spring water on its property to cool the facility and some of its equipment. The innovative geothermal system saves the plant hundreds of thousands of dollars annually and drastically reduces water and energy usage.

  12. Your so right Grey, I'd love to block your post's, but since you know this software from other sites, you know it doesn't have it.

You'll just have to manually add people thru your My controls like was previously stated.

I mean, why after all would I want to constantly see your dry and stale answers that only deal with an X-plan pin code or a lease payment?

  13. My wife chose to buy a red Edge. When searching this forum I happened on the thread about more problems with the red color than other colors. Doesn't seem sensible there would be more mechanical problems but I could certainly understand if they meant paint or finish problems. In reading the thread some folks tried to post legitimate responses, helpful information and tried to do what I thought the forum was for - sharing information. Others mucked up the thread with their trivial, immature comments. I thought that was what the Lounge section was for? I'm not agains a bit of levity and humor but some folks don't know when to stop (and just aren't funny to boot).

Your research turned up all the problems on the RED Edges and yet you still bought one, no wonder you came in here pissed then. Well it's called "Let the buyer beware!" NO sympathy from me then.

  14. The above poster is absolutely correct.

Now I'd like to add a little heat. If your interested in purely technical terms then I suggest you visit google.com for your answers. Or you can visit a number of other web sites that have forums dealing with this model line. However you will not find a more comprehensive site to answer your questions. Actually why do you need to be here anyway? Your owners manual has just about any answer you may need and if that's not sufficient, then your dealers service department will be able to answer the rest of them.

Now to also help you, in your My Controls section is an item called an ignore list. You can populate that very quickly to weed out those people you deem to be totally irresponsible with their replies.

Matter of fact I hope to top your list.

BUT you know what? Your post means nothing to anyone here but you, and I could care less. So I will just carry on.........

One last thing, have a good day.

  15. Do you have any ideal how to turn off? Do I need go back dealer to do that?

    Thanks!

While surfing the inter-web, I came across this, This is for others not necessarily you Fly.

Ford's offical responce to HID's in Canada:

In Canada, the Bullitt Mustang can't be ordered with HID lights as Canada requires daytime running lamps and the HID's can't be adjusted to do this unfortunately.
