  1. If every 2011 Edge was having this problem, I could accept that answer. However, most are not.

Why do you need to create a software patch when you have systems out there that are working? Why won't they just reprogram my unit with a software version they know works?

I'm not convinced this is a software issue at all.

I hope someone at Ford is actually working this issue and it hasn't been pushed to a back burner because they see it as a low priority.

Did you ever hear anything on this? I'm taking Evelyn (my Edge) to the dealer on Friday for the Sync update and was wondering if this is something I should bring up? I don't want them messing with it if there is not a fix.

  2. Does anyone have address info saved with the contacts?

I have address info and email saved for some of my contacts. The phonebook displays all the information I have saved in my contacts on my phone. If you have address info you can touch the options button at the bottom of the phonebook contact screen to set the address as a destination point.

  3. How about this feature I came across tonight...My headlights would not come on until the MFT system finished a 30 second boot sequence.

NOT comforting to know that the headlights are controlled by My Fn Touch.

What happens if MFT decides to go brain dead while I'm driving down the highway at night? Will I have lights? Will I have Air Bags? Will I have brakes??

FORD, you've earned this red card!redcard.gif

My Edge was built 8/31. I had a MFT hiccup the first week I had the Edge while I was driving at night. I was using the voice command to input an address for navigation, I had my ipod connected and was talking on the phone. I think the MFT was temporarily overloaded and the system shut down and rebooted itself... screens were all dark for about 2 minutes... I was completely freaked out, naturally. However my speedometer and the headlights stayed on, the brakes and turn signals all worked fine.

Since that one hiccup it's been working fine.

I'm sure there is a safety mechanism built in.

  4. That's kinda good to hear. I need to take mine in to have them look at it. My seat doesn't know how to move itself forward.

I was able to fix it once by pulling fuse 7. The last I tried that, it was no help. Now I have the Easy Entry turned off.

Did they give you an idea of how long it will take to get the module?

    Wilson,

My seat stopped moving forward you may recall. It seems I messed around with the settings too much while the car was on and not in accessory mode. I guess it got confused.

So the dealer had me turn the accessory mode on, set all the desired settings, press 1, and then turn the accessory mode off and open the door. We then unlocked the door with the fob, turned only the accessories on and programmed the fob same way.

It's been working great since then. I think the main thing is you have to open the door. If you don't open the door the accessory mode stays on and it can't finish the programming.

Hope your seat starts working soon.

  6. Today I was on the phone with Sirius trying to get my travel link subscription enable... 1 hour on the phone... FAIL! :redcard:

Has anyone gotten this issue resolved? Sirius says to contact the dealer... the dealer says to contact Sirius. WTF

Anyway while I was sitting in my driveway playing with Sirius and messing around with the center touchscreen I came across a button that says calendar. So I clicked on it. It said today was June 11, 2030. Who knew my Edge was also a time machine and the fountain of youth since I still looked the same. :hysterical: I tried to update it... but according to the "manual" the date is set by GPS.

Has anyone else played with the calendar? Is the date correct?

Not that either of these things are going to prevent me from enjoying my car... just curious.

  7. It's posts like this and many others that have made me second guess my decision to buy this car.

    Tony

    Tony,

As others have said this forum lets us vent on those little things that bug us. You so won't regret this car!

Most of my frustrations have been due to the learning curve on my part.

My blackberry has worked flawlessly since it was first paired.

My ipod streams with no problems.

The system loads everytime you start the car... so just like your computer when you start it, it takes a few minutes to get everything loaded. Once it has it works great. If you pay attention to the touch screen and push where it's highlighted you don't have to push hard.

Yes the Nav is different than my Garmin but not bad, just different, so it took a while to get used to it.

You have to drive it yourself and then come to your own conclusion....

But I LOVE MY EDGE! :hyper:

I am so excited to drive it every time I get in! I have had nothing but compliments. :shift:

Try to take this forum at face value... tricks or quirks

  8. Yeah, learning how to properly detail your vehicle is addicting, rewarding, and very gratifying. I just love having customers pick up their vehicles from me simply amazed at how well their vehicles looks. Like I said, it's a very gratifying business.

As an example, here is a customer's Altima that I detailed. It looks like they washed their car with a brillo pad since day one. It was just in horrible shape. I include a CD with before and after pictures for each customer and they were astounded at the difference.

I've always taken really good care of my cars, not to the detailer level, but my cars always look good. Clean inside and out.

So I'm curious... what do you think caused all those swirls and scratches? A carwash? Dirty towels?

I've never had a car detailed... but I've also never had a car that cost over $40K. So how often should I take my car to be detailed? And what should I look for in a good detail shop?

  9. I've also ordered a Bordeaux Red with all black with NAV but I cannot figure out the acronym BAMR?

What size wheels did you go for? I went with the stock 18". Trailer Towing Package, Drivers Entry Package, Vista Roof.

BAMR - Big Ass Moon Roof. I had to google it when I kept seeing it on other forums. I think its appropriate... everytime someone new gets in my edge they say wow that a big moon roof! :yup:

I have the Limited and went with standard 18" wheels. Pretty much got all the options except DVD headrests, AWD and bigger wheels. Love the all the safety features, collision warning, Bliss, adaptive cruise control. The Edge feels so much bigger than my Focus so it helps to have some extra "help".

It's been 4 weeks tomorrow and I love it! already have more than 1000 miles on it. :shift: It's just so much fun to drive.

Good luck with yours! You'll love it!

  10. I took delivery of my car in a thunderstorm. I had to inspect it in the rain while the salesman sat inside. Needless to say, I didn't get a bow either!

I made sure to note that on my Ford Survey

    That's a big bummer.

Mine was in the showroom. It didn't have a bow on it but I was happy it was inside. We were able to go over all the features and look it over under the lights.

I felt like I was in Europe at the BWM dealer. I was lucky enough to be in Germany when my friend took delivery of her X3. I was very impressed with the BMW delivery process.

Having my Edge in the showroom made the process all the more special! I got to drive it out too! :shades:

  11. The LEDs are really cool.

I'm in KS and have been too lazy to jump out of the car while driving to see if they were lit. Can anyone confirm that they stay on? I think the amber lights may stay on also.

    Wilson

I don't think any of the lights stay on while your driving during the day. I pulled up to a storefront and could see the front of my Edge... no lights were on.

  12. I was shocked when I picked up my new Edge that the cargo cover was so poorly designed! The dealer even said I don't think you're going to like the cargo cover. I had them take it off right away.

Have you seen the cargo cover in the Escape? It's really nice and retracts. I don't know why they couldn't do something like that on the Edge.

  13. I had my Edge at the dealer today to "fix" the memory seat.

So here's what I found out...

1 - You have to program the seat with the power in accessory mode only.

If you try to program the seat while the car is running it will remember all the other features you've set, e.g. lumbar, tilt, mirror but it will not move the seat forward.

2 - Program the seat for memory button 1 or 2 then turn the power off.

3 - Then turn the power on (acc only) program the key fob then turn the power off.

According to the dealer the seat is supposed to move back almost all the way to allow for easy access. When you unlock the door the seat adjusts everthing except the forward position. Then when the start button is pushed or key turned the seat should move to the desired position.

Mine is working great now. I guess when I first set it up at the dealer we were in accessory mode. Then the next few times I adjusted it the car was on so it only saved the lumbar and mirror positions.

  14. I have the adaptive cruise control on my 2011 Edge Limited.

I find that the adaptive cruise control is very handy. Basically you set your speed and the gap. Both of these items show up on the left drivers screen. post-10534-048188300 1285961695_thumb.jpg

Once you've set your speed and the gap, the car brakes to maintain the gap. It does it so smoothly that unless you are paying really close attention to your speedometer you don't know you're slowing down. I don't think the system would stop the car totally if the car in front of you slammed on their brakes. However it will turn off the music, flash red lights in the windshield, beep and prime the brakes if it senses the car in front has stopped. It will even do all of the above when I'm driving and the car in front of me is turning and I get to close to them before they are fully turned. I'm not sure if all of that is part of the adaptive cruise control.

It takes some getting used to but I like all the additional safety features.
