  1. Well, that is very interesting.

Could you provide details on when your Edge was built (more specifically, I'm looking for when your SYNC was originally flashed/installed)? That might give us a comparison (if it happens to anyone else) or timeline for when it might happen. While I'm currently having phone connection issues that a SYNC master reset did not correct, this intrigues me. I have an inquiring mind. :P

    Thanks for any info.

All I know is that the Edge was delivered to the dealer on Sept. 20th. Dont know how to get the other info you asked for.

Did you get an update from syncmyride for your phone issues?

  2. So, last night I jumped in the Sport, start it up, and the 8" screen was blacked out. Sat there for a minute....nothing. Turned the motor off and started it back up.....NOTHING. No response to touch. I'm thinking WTF now! Radio was off and would not turn on. Tried the 5 way controler...nothing again.

Now I.m sitting there for about 3 minutes and then I see a little backlight. Then 20sec later the screen fires up black with white text reading

    SYNC

    powered by Microsoft

    Performing scheduled system maintenance

    ----------Progress Bar here--------------------

3 to 4 mins later it finished and all was good. everything works fine like before.

So what is this Scheduled Maintenance? The dealer has no idea. Anyone see this on their MyTouch?

  3. I just talked to WeatherTech and they said that the mat for the 2011 Edge is different and would be available in 6-8 weeks.

Apparently there must be some difference between the 2010 and 2011 as both WeatherTech and Ford have different mats. But, from what I am reading here the difference must be small.

I would like to get a mat now but I am concerned about the quality of the Ford mat.

    You keep typing mat here.....

CARGO LINER not floor mat. I have read about the difference in the floor mats but this topic is Cargo Liner.

    .....so sorry

  4. I have the same problem with my 2011 Edge. Sync has some serious issues on the software front and Ford doens't know how to fix it yet

I do hope the fix comes soon

If your having SERIOUS issues and Ford DOENSN'T know how to fix it. Demand a new car or your money back.

Cant fix a problem after 3xs.....its lemon law time.

I wouldn't put up with that and no one should.

  5. Hi I lived in Canada, quebec, I ordered my limitid with the HID lamp, the saleswomen called me and the hid are backorder, i have to wait 4 months to have my new edge, nice beginning.... :(

Tough call there...........OR you could change your order and get a Sport then you wont have that problem.

2010 has a hook on the carpet that goes into a hole on the drivers mat.

2011 has 2 stems on the carpet that snap into the drivers mat.

I perfer the Edges OEM mats over weathertech. Now in my 2010 Taurus I perfer weathertech over OEM.

  7. Was about to order the WeatherTech for my new 2011 Edge, had the mat for the 2010 in my cart at Amazon and was about to order when I decided I had better do some research.

Right now WeatherTech does not show a mat for the 2011. I sent an e-mail to them asking when the mat will be available for the 2011. Ford also shows a different mat for 2011 so there must be something different.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 2010 and 2011 in regards to the cargo area?

I have not been able to compare the 2 mats but from what I can gather in my reading the WeatherTech has generally been regarded as superior to the Ford mat.

I have the Weathertech DigitalFit in my Taurus and they fit great but scratch easy (women heels, not good). In my 11 Sport I have the OEM rubber mats and the are a good fit, tough quality and look nice. The cargo liner ($80) for 2011 has a lip all around to keep in any liquid (2010 no lip) and easy roll up if needed. It has the EDGE logo that looks cool too. My old 07 Edge OEM mats were made of a heavy rubber. I like the new 2011 mats better then the olds ones and weathertech's. IMOP

  8. This has been a manufacture problem for the last 5 years. Before that I never have seen this. Even when Pontiac's were half plastic. It only has to do with the front and rear fascia's. If you notice every other part matches, door handles, rocker panels, hood scoops, etc.

I've kept a close on eye this cause it bugs the S**t out me. Now for 2011 Edge sport's all color matches are great except for the Platinum White, mild but still not perfect. Also, my 2010 Taurus SHO matches (sliver) and the other colors I looked at too. Ford is getting much better at this and GM is the wosrt that I have seen.

One color that always matches is Black.

  9. After almost a week with my Silver Sport, I can say that I am disappointed in the Halogen lights. They pale in comparison to all HID lights I have had in my past cars. I guess the price of the Sport would have jumped by at least $1000 if they offered them in the Sport. I would like to convert to HIDs but that will depend how much I drive at night. I see there are plenty of options out there (Retro etc...) as well as the factory option (preferred but $$$$$$$). Anyone want to try a group buy with Ford? Do you know if the housing and the projector (bulb housing) is the same for HID and non HID? Is it as simple as switching the bulb, adding ballast, possible relay and that is it?

Other than that, Car is great. Few gremlins with the Sync but overall very happy with the car.

If Ford would have made this an option it would be $495 just like on the Limited. Thats why I dont understand why Ford didn't add them. Its a SPORT model.

If it bothers you that much, then I would add a Kit. Good kits I've been told to go with are Slim Kits & Xtec. If you bought your Sport and plan on keeping it for a long time then you can go OEM.

Me...still happy with my, but would have liked HIDs on $43K car.

  10. With many cars after drying you always have water dripping from molding, doors mirrors, jams, etc. I been wanting to order a Metro Vac & blower to dry off my Sport. Costco has the Metro 4.0 for $159 shipped.

    Heres a product details:

This twin fan 4 peak horsepower vacuum is the most powerful car vacuum ever tested. It has an amazing 95" of water lift (the standard measure for a vacuum’s efficiency). Compact, powerful, portable, it’s heavy-duty lightweight all-steel body is only 17" long and 7" in diameter which makes it easy to handle. Use it off road, too, as a vacuum for cleaning around the house or yard, or as a blower to inflate rafts, air mattresses or blow away leaves. On road or off, Vac ‘N Blo® offers the versatility you need. It comes fully equipped with a wide range of attachments, so whether the job calls for power or precision, you'll have the right tool at hand. A 6’ flexible hose plus two 20" extensions reach even the furthest corners.

Does anyone own one or used one before? Maybe one of pro detailers have.

  11. I'm looking at the the Edge Sport and this is one feature that I was bummed to see wasn't included. Do you know if you can add the ones from the Limited if purchased?

Before I got my Sport I asked the how much to get the limited headlamps installed. They said all of $2000. I was like OK i'll pass. But once I drove it at night I was surprised to see they were not bad. My last car had HID too.

Still this was a dumb thing Ford did by not having HID standard on the Sport.

Speaking of the bigger engine, how does it feel in day to day driving? I've read the AWD Sport is actually a half second slower to 60 than a FWD Limited and about the same FWD vs FWD due to weight increases and getting those 22s rolling. I'm hoping it shines when you're already moving and need to make some power from the 40-60mph range.

I have AWD and it has good power for passing. Even on the Hyw 65 to 80 is just fine. This is coming from a guy that has always had fast cars.

I got AWD cause when I drove the FWD the front tires would always break loose (on dry pavement and worse on wet).

  12. [bLivio

PS - I bought myself a set of brand new OE 20" wheels with TPS and tires out of Florida for my 11 Sport. [/b]

Did you buy the 2011 20"? I found a set on ebay with tires for $2K shipped. If you dont mind me asking how much where the 20's?

I really would like to see how those wheels look on the sport. Got any pics? Did you notice any ride differance?

  13. I ordered the splash guards my 11 sport from my Ford dealer (Ford made part). I made sure that I didnt need to drill hole. The dealer confrimed that yes holes are predrilled and you use the existing screws to mount the splash guard. Ford doesnt want anyone drilling holes in their vehicle either.

Once they come in I'll see if I can make them work for the rears.

  14. I did. My salesguy gave me his price for the 3 grille insert pieces (purchased as one item) - around $100. The dealer had 'em painted body color prior to BluEdge's delivery. Painting and installing was another $100. Check my sig for pic.

You're ordering black. If you want a matte finish grille, you may be able to swap for a Sport grille. That would mean a Sport would be left without one - or get your chrome. That would be up to you and the dealer.

FYI- The Sport grille is not matte finish, Its tuxedo black. BTW it would look nice on the Limited and $200 is a good price for paint and install.

  15. Yep, Poorboys S&W makes a great lubricant when claying both your paint and windshield. If you are clay barring glass, I would stick with a fine grade clay bar, like the one I mentioned earlier from Clay Magic. An aggressive clay bar can and will cause marring. Using an aggressive clay bar on your paint (if it's warranted) is not a big deal since you typically follow up clay barring with a single or multi step polishing........but glass is different. Check your Meguiars clay bar kit and see how aggressive it us before using it on your glass.

Spoke to a Meguiar's rep today and the clay bar is non-abrasive or very fine. The smooth surface kit that I used 3 days ago came with the quick detail for a lubricant. They said that yes the clay & lub can be used on glass as well. I was thinking "ok why not put that on the box then?". Any ways gonna try it out.

  16. I dont see any clay bar for glass on detailimage. Do they carry it? I dont care for the glass srub. Griots does.

Canuck want to do you think about Griot's garage products? I havent use them or any of the others. its alway been Meguiar's. But Im going to get some PB wheel sealant and would like to get a clay bar for glass or something has good. Any ideas?

  17. That's a shame that you have some fine scratches on your brand new wheels!! If you feel that they were incurred by the dealership, I would certainly be asking for 4 brand new wheels. If that avenune proves to be unsuccessful and you have to do it yourself, I would start by using P21S Finish Restorer to remove the scratches. I would then follow it up with either Wheel Wax or Poorboys Wheel Sealant.

I'll see what the dealer can do. What about the Meguiars NXT all medal polish or Eagle 1 never dull, would that be ok for now?
