  1. XL Series 'Hidden' Brackets
The visible portion of the brackets, the "front arms," can be easily removed when not towing -- remove two hitch pins to convert from towed car to road car in seconds!
They're virtually invisible -- improved aesthetics
Computer-cut, all-steel components for exceptional strength
Easy to install -- ROADMASTER brackets use existing attachment points on the vehicle's undercarriage -- no welding!
Most install through the grille -- no scraping brackets in dips or against curbs.

The bracket will fit 2007 - 2015 Ford Edge without Adaptive Cruise Control

It was installed for 2 years and is in very good condition. All installation hardware included.

Grill piece for 2011- 2014 Edge with correct cut-outs also included.

What year is your Edge? With the advanced electronic modules being used to control various systems and functions in cars, it could be one of those modules. In Ford, I don't know if that would be the equivalent of a BCM (Body Control Module as found on GM cars) or something similar. I have heard the term Smart Junction Box associated with Fords, perhaps that is one component to look at?

A quick look at my 2013 service manual shows this regarding the autolamps staying on. It shows it could be the sensor itself as pointed out by an earlier post, or the BCM, or the headlamp switch (also pointed out by the same earlier post) which is integrated into the FLM. I don't know if the switch is replaceable as a separate unit or if it is actually a part of the FLM.

    • The autolamps are on continuously
    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • Light sensor
    • Headlamp switch (integrated into the Front Lighting Control Module (FLM))
    • BCM

The key is "after ignition off". Once the engine is off, I don't see how the light sensor input would be considered. Headlamp switch maybe. Turning the switch to off will kill the lights and will remain off even after turning back to auto (keeping ignition off). I don't know if the lights ever did not turn off due to ambien light increase (since there is no indication of headlight status in the IP).

  4.

Definitely throttle body. Tell them you heard about a throttle body problem with the same exact symptoms and see what they say.

Sorry, don't agree at all. Sounds more like an issue with the AWD putting the vehicle in a "limp-home" mode to avoid damage. The AWD is not designed to be engaged continually and can overheat if driven in this mode (i.e. up a snow covered hill for a few miles). The AWD might not be actually overheating, but the temp sensors or some other component might be failing or something in the traction/stability control might be commanding the AWD to be engaged for extended periods of time when it should not be. It would be interesting to know what the conditionas are when this happens. You could monitor the left screen that shows the AWD function. 90% of the time you should only see the front wheels getting power.

Find yourself a dealer that takes you seriously and is willing to keep the car for a while.

  5. I got my 2011 Limited AWD in October of 2010. To date I have almost 50K miles on it. I average around 20MPG (mixed City/Highway) which I find comparable to all other similarly sized crossovers with a V6.

Overall I am not happy with this vehicle. Too many problems (many intermittent).

    Problems:

1.- MFT- latest release is better but still quite a few bugs.

2.- Mic for Blue tooth phone - Audio quality on receiving end is terrible. So bad, it can't be used to talk to someone that is on hands-free on the other end.

3.- HVAC calibration - see my other post.

4.- Idler pulley stuck on day 4

5.- Trans oil leak within 1st month

6.- Rattle in rear of vehicle (intermittent). Took 1 year and many dealer visits for a subwoofer replacement that fixed the issue.

7.- Suspension squeak in rear of vehicle (intermittent). Still not found after many dealer visits

8.- Memory seat module failure. Seat would move to my wife's seat position when she got in the car on the passenger side while the car was running and I was in the driver seat. She is 1ft+ shorter than me.

9.- Battery was dead within 1 year.

10.- Strange wind noise on passenger side. Dealer says its normal.

11.- No indication of headlight on/off status. I find "Auto" turning the lights on later than I would like.

12 - Road and wind noise seem loud compared to other similar vehicles

13.- Rain sensing wipers come on without rain (every now and then)

    Likes:

    1.- Engine performance and driveability

    2.- Seats are comfortable

3.- Keyless entry and start system works well

4.- Overall size of vehicle fits my needs

5.- If it had no bugs, then MFT would be a positive.

    6.- BAMR

7.- Tires still have plenty of tread and worke well in all types of conditions

8.- Resolution and color of 8" screen is very good

9.- Dash with large center speedo and programmable screens.

Overall, I would not buy this vehicle again. Probably doesn't help that my previous vehicle went 90K miles without any issues (not even any squeaks or rattles). The local Ford dealer is also incapable of understanding that an intermittent issue might need a bit more investigation before calling it "no trouble found".

  6. I have no issues streaming from Pandora or Tuned-in through the USB cable (stock apple cable). I can't get BT audio to work since the last update. Also, when connecting the iPhone through the USB, 50% of the time I will hear no sound even though the screen shows the song and the time counting up. Unplug and re-plug and then it works fine every time. Go figure...

  7. i20sailor...I would take it in and have them check it. I double checked mine today and ours definitely is using full fan speed with recirc in auto. I started the car and it was in auto and fans were kicking hard, then hit max AC and no difference other than changing temp to Lo, switching back to auto the fans stayed the same but as mentioned by cv27 the temp stayed at Lo which is kind of dumb.

What was your outside temp? Does our recirc light turn on when in Auto Mode (I don't think mine has ever done that). I've already complained about this to my dealer various times. They agreed that it was strange, but could find nothing wrong. Story of my life with this car.

  8. Situation:

Outside temp: <80F, car has been sitting in the sun, so inside temp 90F+, Climate set to 68F on Auto.

HVAC blower will not go over 50%. Car takes for ever to cool off. Need to use "Max Air" to cool off car, but when I revert back Auto, temp setting stays at "LO" so I need to go the Climate Screen to set temp back to desired 68F.

If outside temp is >80F, then blower will go over 50% on Auto.

What on earth are the Ford engineers thinking?? What does the outside temp have to do with getting the inside of the car to the set point as quickly as possible? Every other car I own would go to full fan speed and recirc regardless of outside temp.

My GM cars also reduce fan speed when a call comes in. Really nice feature.

  9. Hey guys, went to my Ford dealer yesterday to get an oil change. The main service head told me that the new update is slick and light years faster than the current system. They had a 2013 SHO and they were test driving it. The system responded quicker, recognized your voice better, and the system overall was way smoother. I asked him when I shouls except to see the new Nav SD Card and the USB for the update. He told me that Ford told him in 2-3 weeks, which means by the end of March. I have to see it to believe it, but let's hope it is true, both the rumor date and the better MyTouch.

I have also hear the 2-3 week timing from a source inside Ford that is close to the project.

  10. You can see a comparison of different model trim levels at the following link:

    http://www.ford.com/...rs/edge/models/

I'll add too that all the "issues" with MFT should be taken with a grain of salt in that it's human nature that you'll hear a lot more from people with problems, than from people without. Not to diminish in any way the issues that some do indeed have, but just keep in the back of your mind that on web forums like this it's only natural that people will vent more than praise. Personally I picked up our new Limited back in October and I can honestly say I've had zero problems with MFT, including Nav, although that does see limited usage. It boots up quickly, doesn't lock up, loads songs from my Ipod as it should, and my Samsung phone works great. I've learned (yes there is a bit of a learning curve) to use the voice control extensively as once you get used to all that hands free control, you wonder what buttons were ever invented for anyway LOL. Good luck with whatever you decide!

P.S. unfortunately MFT doesn't help my online typing/spelling ability LOL

I would wait until the new software release is out and see if it works or avoid MFT all together. I have had nothing but problems with the current system and would have returned the car multiple times over if this had been possible. Vehicles with issues are the norm, not the exception (this is based on discussions with various Ford service departments). Other than MFT, the Edge is a nice vehicle but there are many other nice vehicles out there that don't have MFT issues.

  11. In the settings at the bottom of the left hand menu you can set it to enhanced. The will give you more data on the trip computer. I didn't know what was enhanced untill I played with it.

There is also a setting in there (somewhere else) for memory on. With that you get back to the same screens when you got up and down.

I have the enhanced mode active. On my car Average Speed is not displayed. The 4 lines are:

    1.- Trip Time

    2.- Trip Miles driven

    3.- Average MPG

    4.- Fuel used (gallons)

Do others have Average Speed in this display? If so, what else is displayed?
