  1. Oh Joy. My brand new 2011 Edge got broken into, I have barely had it a month. There was nothing valuable inside, in fact, the most valuable thing inside was a small stuffed monkey toy. Nothing was visible. Trunk empty. I mean we were keeping car completely spotless and spartan, so not sure why it was targetted other than it was new, but there are several new cars on our block. They tried to break the driver window several times with no dice before busting in the rear window, so now we have to replace both of them. It's too dark to really tell the extent of any other damage but the plastic window trim is definitely damaged and there were a few scratches on the door panel inside... I don't even know if it's worth fixing for any reason other than my pride over having a brand new car that I was babying get damaged so early. I'm so angry right now, I really wish I could have caught them in the act. Either way, I think it's time to move. Our previous car got broken into several times, but one we had left the GPS in and the second time my wife had left the GPS mount in the car even though we took to taking the actual unit out. I don't even know what to do, trying to get a police report and it's been an hour and a half and they still haven't showed up, which is making this night even better. The worst part is that I came home at 7 and moved it to the other side of the street due to alternate parking rules. My wife walked by it around 7:30 and it was fine. We go out at 8:45pm to go somewhere and the car is trashed. It's not even like they waited till the dead of night. Just venting at this point, my deductible for comprehensive is 500 bucks so I'll pretty much be paying for it all out of pocket. I just reduced it to $50, the difference is so minuscule I wonder why I left it at $500 to begin with. Stupid me. That certainly didn't make me feel any better. I'd post pictures of the damage but it's too dark to see anything anyway, maybe tomorrow.
  2. Okay so I went in, and the manager was there but not the finance guy that helped us with that stuff. The manager basically tried to talk us into keeping the warranty because she said A) they sell it at cost (which is BS) and It's better than the Ford ESP (Which I'm sure Ford would be happy to hear their dealer telling a customer). I'm doing the research though on which may be better, and right now still leaning towards the Ford ESP. It's cheaper, for a longer period and frankly I don't know how much I trust a dealership that slipped some of those other things into the paper work to raise their profits. I'm definitely canceling the Safe Key stuff, do you guys think the Ford Tire & Wheel is worth it? I'm sure they marked it up, maybe there's an aftermarket option? They basically said we have to have everything in writing, that we are canceling, so gonna type that up.
  3. Guess we'll find out. I know for sure the Safe Key is refundable, I think I'll keep the tire and wheel even though I'm sure they charged me an inflated price. The one that worries me is the Warranty Solutions, since nothing is said about canceling it on the paper work but I think in NY you always have the right to cancel a purchased warranty for a pro-rated refund at the very least. I'll update with what I find out at the dealership today, what pisses me off is they never even asked me about the safe key or the ford tire and wheel. They did ask me about the warranty, but I was led to believe it was an actual Ford warranty and not some third party nonsense. You're certainly right I should have read it more closely though.
  4. So I've had my Edge for almost a month, and for some reason only today decided to take a closer look at my "reciept". Well there are a few issues I have with it. First of all the warranty they sold us doesn't seem to be an authentic Ford Warranty. It's from "Warranty Solutions", and I'm worried because the contract seems to talk a whole lot about "mechanical failure" and while that's great, I'm as worried about the technological failures that might occur with a car this high tech. Am I better off canceling this (I paid $1,995) and going for a real Ford Extended Warranty? I would think so. Second. There is something on the bill called Safe Key (Costs $595). I didn't request this, and the salesman made it sound almost free when he gave me the little tags for it. Said that if I ever got locked out of my car, they'd be able to get me in. At the time I assumed this was part of Sync, kind of like Chevy's OnStar where you can call OnStar and they can remotely open your doors. Well I'm not so sure that's the case, and I'm wondering if Sync does indeed offer a service similar to OnStar's which would make Safe Key redundant. Lastly, they have something called Ford Tire & Wheel, which apparently covers my wheels and tires for 5 years. But all it really seems to do is cover flats or say if I hit a pot hole and damaged my tire and wheel. This cost $695 and covers the car for 5 years. Of the three things, I'm inclined to keep this one, does anyone have any experience with whether it's worth it? I believe part of the confusion for this is that there were so many of us there, and the salesman talked with several people, including my parents who finished up the deal (I was preparing for my wedding the next day and my head was in a million place), until I showed up to sign the papers and then I rushed out of there again. Any help is greatly appreciated, I just called and they said they'd call me back. I think I'm just going to go in tomorrow and talk to them in person, but would be nice to have some ammo. Thanks!
  5. Congratz. I wanted a white but they only had the blue Limited AWD in stock. I wasn't too happy at the time but the color has really grown on me.
  6. Well that explains that. Thank you for the help, I must have missed the part about hitting lock first.
  7. Yeah, I can't get mine to autostart either. I read that it was the circle with the x2 inside, correct? Maybe I missed something, I tried pushing it twice as I saw and that didn't do a thing.
  8. Strange, mine pairs just fine and has been rock solid in that respect, just couldn't figure out the music issue but now that I hear all you can really do is go back and forth anyway, I'm a bit discouraged.
  9. I'll try when I get home but would this mean I'd have to switch it back and forth everytime, cause that sounds very inconvenient.
  10. Does anyone actually their their travel link stuff working correctly or is this universal? I was trying to find out how to get weather and stuff, and it looks like I shouldn't even bother wasting my time at this point.
  11. I'm trying to get MyTouch to play (and list) music off my iPhone over bluetooth and not having much luck. Actually, I'm having no luck. Phone works great with making calls and all that, just can't seem to get the audio to work. Would be nice to not NEED to use the USB cable.
  12. The original post is from 2007. Obviously this day it'd be rare to find a bluetooth system that wouldn't work with the iPhone, or bluetooth cell phones in general.
  13. I haven't noticed this on my Edge.
