  1. Hey Wizard.... i think you missed an important fact.

     

    I was in the dealership on the 1st of September, when the new Costco deal was in effect as well as all the other Ford discounts given. THEY had the paperwork made out for the 31st of August and even when I asked why the date on the contract was the 31st, they replied, oh it doesn't matter, it's better for you. MY BAD, should have insisted on them changing it.

     

    THEY KNEW the Costco deal was in but did not inform me and after a few days when I found out, they said the contract was done on the 31st even though I was not even in town on the 31st.

     

    I took delivery on the 1st of September, and like you said, the contract is complete upon deivery. If not fraud, certainly bad business and I another poster just posted, they have proven to me that they are not honest and can't be trusted. I recommend that they try several other dealers in the area.

     

    I do agree that the service department is quite good.

  2. I wanted to post my issue I had when I purchased my 2013 Ford Edge on September 1st, 2012. I have copied my complaint to the local BBB as I have gotten nowhere with Ridgehill Ford in Cambridge or Ford of Canada.

     

    Needless to say I cannot offer a recommendation to this dealership.

     

    I purchased a 2013 Ford Edge from Ridgehill Ford. The negotiations were completed on the 28th of August 2012 and I was told at that time they would have to "find" that vehicle and would deliver on the 1st of September 2012. Subsequent emails confirmed delivery on the 1st of September and it was in fact delivered at 3pm on September 1st 2012.

     

    A few days later I discovered via advertising that there was a COSTCO discount of $1000 for Ford vehicles which was effective from the 1st of September 2012 until 31st of October 2012. I am an eligible COSTCO member. The legal notice below the offer online and emails indicate that the eligibility is that the "DELIVERY" date be between those dates.

     

    I returned to Ridgehill Ford and notified them that I would like the missed $1000 offer and was told that I was not eligible as the "paper work" was done on the 31st August 2012. I attempted to contact Ford of Canada and their response was that it was a "dealer issue."

     

    I am very disappointed with this company's handling of this request and my research has shown that the "paper work" was most probably done on the 31st of August 2012 for their own gain due to end month bonuses etc.

     

    From the 'fine print."

     

    ** Offer only valid from September 1, 2012 to October 31, 2012 (the "Offer Period") to resident Canadians with a Costco membership on or before August 31, 2012. Use this $1,000CDN Costco member offer towards the purchase or lease of a new 2012/2013 Ford/Lincoln vehicle (excluding Fiesta, Focus, Raptor, GT500, Mustang Boss 302, Transit Connect EV & Medium Truck) (each an "Eligible Vehicle"). The Eligible Vehicle must be delivered and/or factory-ordered from your participating Ford/Lincoln dealer within the Offer Period.

  3. UPDATE!

     

    I just went onto the Sync my Ride site and it indicated I had a update available. There was yes and no questions which ended up with this If you have NAV, If you do not have NAV, you can download it to your own memory stick and do it yourself.

     

    Unfortunately I have NAV and will have to wait.

  4. I'm in Kitchener and just chatted with Wielland Ford Service department and she just read the memo about the upgrade and it indicates that the customers will be notified by end March.

     

    The interesting comment from her whether true or not, is that it is DEALER INSTALLED!!! Also, the memo states that it will take 1.5 hours to 2.0 hours.

     

    Is there more in our upgrade?

  5. Ford dealer updated my 2011 Edge MFT today to BT4T-14D544-BJ Gen v2.8. Install took a couple of hours. Successful result and confirmed install is now showing on Syncmyride website.

     

    The reason that I took it in was to fix a problem with Apple iPhone/iPods locking up the system when my Blackberry 9700 was also paired. Fortunately, since January update(v2.4), I have only pulled fuse 29 a couple of times. However, I have hit the Master Reset a few times to restart the Bluetooth device pairing process. Otherwise, all MFT functions have been working perfectly since January on the 2.4 release.

     

    Fortunately, after running through all functions tonight, not only is everything working fine but there are a few improvements. I am a fairly technical user and have tested every function including Navigation, Climate, Audio(with exception of video) and Phone.

     

    Here are the improvements noted thus far:

     

    - Bluetooth pairing of Blackberry and Apple devices in tandem works with no system locking(so far at least).

    - screen response time is quicker.

    - maybe it's all in my head but I think the screen fonts are clearer as well.

    - boot up time is faster when vehicle is started.

    - jumpy screen for back up camera is fixed.

     

    Functions still missing:

     

    - no ability to identify a specific Bluetooth device as either a phone or a media player or both. The feature would greatly help the current situation where a new phone pairing replaces the current phone when not desired. Also, if new phone has media player that only is needed and not the phone.

    - no ability to select between multiple, active paired Bluetooth devices for the same function(e.g. media player, phone, etc.)

    - I am in Canada. So, TDI still missing.

     

    I realize the first two missing items are very complex to develop but let's hope they are in the works. Anyone have information on future releases?

     

    Anyone else have results or improvements to report?

     

    When was your Edge built/delivered? I still have 2.3 and "AG" and the dealer does not even show any update for mine. I'm starting to believe that my VIN has fallen through the cracks.

    I have a 2011 Edge Ltd built mid November 2010. I have not received any letter and the dealer shows no update available.

  7. I took my 3 month old 2011 Edge in today. I've been putting up with rear camera, sync performing maintenance, Nav block outs and main screen blackout issues.

     

    I said I would leave it for the day and by the time I got home, there was a message saying the car is ready, we drove it around the lot and couldn't duplicate anything, so it's fixed. They said TSB 10-24-9 was not for my vehicle even though there were many similar problems. I left it with them as they said they would not do anything if it is not broken when brought in and only the service manager would talk with me tomorrow. They also say that they have had no problems with the my touch!!!!

     

    ARRRRGGGHHHHH! I have version 2.3 and they say(and my sync site) that there is no update.

     

    What number can I call to get these dorks straightened out?

  8. ive opened my tailgate twice, panic button three times, never started the car yet though.

     

     

    I was getting all sorts of bings and dings! I used to keep my keys in my right coat pocket and while driving, they would get pressed against the seat belt latch and caused the dings etc.

     

    I've since switched to my left pocket and nothing since!

     

    And even better, with the keys in my coat pocket while shoveling the driveway, I set off the panic alarm, locked the doors and opened the hatch!!! Looked like a damn transformer in the garage!

    I had no problems installing it in my vehicle. However, the instructions say the unit will reboot and not to touch it until it does. Miine did not and the "OK" also did not disappear. I touched the OK after about 2 minutes, check the sub menu and the install was a success. I took the flash drive back to my computer and uploaded the confirmation and it now shows all good.

  10. Hello, all.

     

    This is terrible but I haven't driven it since I got it home. We have till Friday left on a Jeep Liberty lease so I have been driving that in this crappy weather here in Ontario. I have been sitting in the Edge in the garage for HOURS playing with the magic and other than slightly slow response on the 8" screen and frustration at the sometimes finicky voice recognition, it has worked flawlessly . It's worked out well this way as I haven't been swerving all over the road playing with this stuff! Don't need and HTA issues, eh Richy?

     

    The software version is still the same as was installed on the 24th of Nov when built and it does not show any update required. I did notice is is slightly different version when compared with someone who just got that new update from the dealers.

     

    I have finally explored the rest of the vehicle and I think the interior is very nicely done for a North American car. The console size is great, and the mood lighting is more pleasing than I thought it would be too.

     

    If I had one gripe, it is because of the weight of the door, the inner handle is way too far forward, especially for my wife's vertically challenged stature.

     

    It's her vehicle and I'll have to give her a day of training before she steals it away from me!

  11. Anyone know of any other way to get the Sync Checker app than via the website? I've tried both their Java and AcriveX route and neither is working (on multiple machines with different OS and browser configs, and I'm an IT Engineer by trade). Chatting on the site was also not a help (I was told I don't need it and I shouldn't know about TSBs... sigh) Any help is appreciated.

     

    Just to make things more confusing, I just successfully installed the Sync update checker and I use Firefox.

    Not to worry! Mine had the same words until the day before I picked up the vehicle, then it just...poof, went away.

     

    Day 2 for me with no problems. I spent 2 hours half way out of the garage reading the manual and setting everything up (and starting it periodically so I wouldn't freeze!)

     

    I realized after all that time, I still hadn't even looked at the rest of the car! Very cool, especially the keyless entry and starting.

  13. I was going to pick it up Monday in London, ON. If you have been watching the weather for that part of the world, it has been pretty nasty!!! So I canceled yesterday for today and voila... more snow! I'm not timid in weather but I think trying to pick up a new vehicle in a blizzard is not ideal.

     

    I can't pick it up tomorrow so it will be Thursday. Talk about suspense and torture!

     

    I'm also debating if I should call the dealer to have them install the new software before I get there or just hope it's not required on mine...
