  1. You can also navigate using Points of Interest (POIs) which a state park would be one. In addition to the street address and POIs, you can also navigate to city centers and intersections.
  2. Yes it is via Sirius however Ford Sync also has traffic information. Sync services are free for 3 years (I believe). The later however does not overlay on the navigation map and basically amounts to a customized radio traffic report for your trip. You access the sync services (one of which is traffic) via a linked cellphone in your car. You can then ask for a traffic report once the computerized operator answers. You will be given traffic information in your local area or along your route.
  3. Hi Tom, The 2011 Edge comes with 6 months of Sirius Satellite radio in addition to Sirius Travel Link. Sirius Travel Link will display near real time traffic/construction/accident alerts on your navigation map. Sirius Travel Link also includes weather information, fuel prices, etc. From my experience in the last month, the traffic information has been fairly accurate. The dealership activated all of these services before I arrived. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope that helps.
  4. I don't believe you can do it from either the iPhone or Android Google Maps App....yet. However, you can send a destination from an Android phone running Froyo (Android 2.2) since it supports flash in the internet browser. It isn't the best solution, but it works. On another Navigation note, does anyone know what the on screen orange dotted lines represent in the map? They appear pretty random at times and their location doesn't match a road, path, etc. I've learned that the black/white dashed lines are railroad tracks.
  5. I know you can rotate the 3D map by moving your finger around the on screen circle that appears. Can you adjust the angle at which you view the 3D map as well? If so, how?
  6. I would imagine then that the 6 is totaled by the 2 front speakers and the 2 rear coax speakers. I wouldn't mind an Amp but I don't know how/if it would affect the SYNC system.
  7. Thanks akirby. Do you know any information about the stock "head unit" power rating? I just want to make sure there is enough power to drive upgraded speakers. Also, do you happen to know where the 5th and 6th speakers are since there is one in each of the four doors? I can't seem to find them and don't see any small tweeters that might be them either.
  8. Thanks for the advice. It looks like the 2011 Edge is still too new for Crutchfield.com. They don't have any speaker information yet. Just a matter of time I suppose.
  9. I recently purchased a 2011 Edge SEL. Although the stock 6 speaker system is decent in my opinion, I am looking to replace the speakers with higher quality ones. The standard speakers are plenty loud enough and I do not plan on blasting music. For anyone that has performed speaker upgrades before, would I really notice much of a difference by replacing the stock speakers? I do not plan to buy an amplifier if I can get by without one. Would new speakers even be worth it without an amp? Anyone know how much wattage is put out by the stock system? I did not plan on purchasing a sub-woofer either since it would take up space and nice speakers probably have decent enough base response. Any thoughts or information about the stock system would be appreciated.
