  1. Just took delivery of a 2011 LTD w/Navi on 3/14. The map data base is way out of date. Though it show the street that I live on as a road it has no idea what the name of the steet is and therefore can't find the address. The subdivision is over 4 years old and the street was dedicated by the county at that time . The map update that I got for a Garmin in 2009 knew trhe address and so does my 2010 Honda Crosstour.

In addition, my daughter's house is about 5 years old and new Edge doesn't know where she lives either, Again, both the Honda and the Garmin have her street / subdivision in thier data base.

I know that this is the first release of the SD card based system and I certainly hope there will be an update forth coming. My question is, are the previous generation Navi systems as out of date and how often do they update the data base??

    TIA

Don't feel bad, I have noticed streets more than 8 years old not included and the detail on the maps is very poor. I'm sticking with my Garmin as well. But you'll probably love your ride.

  2. Very good and lengthy discussion about screen protectors here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/5669-myford-touch-protective-film/page__hl__%2Bscreen+%2Bprotector

Here is the web site of the product http://www.nushield.com/

I ordered one and I am well please with it. There cleaner is also very good. I find the film to be more resistant to finger prints then the original screen and can't really tell the difference in response with or without the protector.

That's the one I use as well, with success.

  3. My calendar shows a date of November 4, 2030 and as far as I can tell there is no way to set the date. And as a result of the date being off my clock is now an hour off unless I set it manually. At one time the calendar was correct, I don't know when it got off but when I first noticed anything wrong was when the time suddenly was off by an hour and I traced it to the calendar.

Yes, it's actually weird. I was actually driving when mine went haywire. The funny thing is the date is now correct but the time, as mentioned, is 2 1/2 hour fast, so I to have have to de-select the gps button and manually set the clock. As soon as the gps button is selected again the clock jumps ahead the 2.5 hours. Not a big deal but I will get it fixed when they notify me that a fix is available.

  4. I hope they fix some of the huge problems too, not only a clock calendar thing...call it 2.7 just for that? What about the constant indexing of devices? the constant problems to connect phones? Or the voice recognition not recognizing anything? Or the album arts not showing correctly. The general slowness of the whole thing...

I am sure it will...or screw up other things...The only reason the clock was mentioned regarding 2.7 was because that was the problem I had (actually the only one right now) and when I called the Sync guys on the phone I was told they were working on a fix and expected in the next update which happened to be 2.7. There has also been a mention somewhere on the forum about a TSB 11-3-15. I love to know what is in this TSB.

  5. Can I ask what the "clock/calendar" problem is? The reason I ask is my wife was playing around with the calendar the last time we were in the car but could not get it to work correctly. And now (possibly related?) this morning I noticed that nothing within the "Sirius Travellink" screen is working at all. In fact, there aren't even any menu button when I go there, it's just all blank. I plan on stopping off at the dealer on the way home to show them, but I'm just wondering if playing around with the calendar screen could have been the root cause of my other woes.

Quite a few 2011 Edge owners have clocks that won't keep time when trying to sync with the gps. Some are showing the calendar year out by 20 years or more. My clock is always 2.5 to 3.5 hours fast. Actually for the first couple weeks I had the car it was perfect and then one day while driving on the highway the clock jumped ahead 5.5 hours and the calendar date was incorrect. Two days later the clock was 3.5 hours fast and after DST it was 2.5 hours but now the calendar is correct. If you go into 'Menu' 'Clock' you will see the setting regarding GPS, date, time.

  6. Has anyone heard any details about the next update for my ford touch? I've read around on other forums that MFT gen 2 v2.7 will be available in March but have not been able to find anything on what the update will fix or include.

I have been wondering the same. I did have a conversation with a tech at syncmyride and he said one of the things they hoped to fix was the clock/calendar problem. Not sure what else.

  7. I have a new problem, or at least have not seen it on the forum. Traveling on the highway with a Nav Destination turned on, Sirius radio on. Came to a turn-off on the highway, the radio volume went down, was waiting for the turn info to be announced...nothing. The radio volume was still barely audible and was unable to turn the volume up using the steering wheel controls. Stopped the car and re-started and radio volume was back and steering wheel control worked...Same thing happened at every turn off along the route. Anyone else had this problem?

  8. I thought of that also, but the date is correct.

The date on mine is correct. The clock switched automatically to DST. However the clock still won't sync with gps. However, instead of 3.5 hours fast it is now 2.5 hours fast. Waiting for the 2.7 update to get the clock corrected.

  9. I'm starting to wonder the same thing. I have never been called by the dealer or Ford about any recall etc.. My Sync is version 1.8 installed from the factory back in Oct 2010, and according to the www.syncmyride.com web site there aren't any upgrades available. I also have the "nightlight" issue however most of the time my system works ok, pulled the fuse once, since the car was built, and had two automatic reboots. I'm also in Canada.. Maybe only U.S. Cars are getting updates?

Are there any Canadians out there with a newer than 1.8 Sync System?

    M.

    Yes. My version is 2.4

  10. I need this fix, my calendar thinks it is October 2030!!!

My calendar is correct now but the clock won't sync with the gps, it's 3.5 hours fast. Don't know why the calendar corrected itself and not the clock. Dealership here doesn't have the 2.7 update yet.

  11. 2.7 revision is interesting in that is 4 to 5 revisions higher than what most of us have even with a recent dealer installed update. Apparently it is only available to a select few, likely because it doesn't actually fix anything.

I was told it dealt mainly with the clock/calendar issues.

  12. This is one of the very few tech features on the Edge that works very well. The BIS indicator is unobtusive but it has become habit to check for the light in my side mirrors before changing lanes. It does give some false positives when there is a median or barrier on t he shoulder, but it has worked perfectly for detecting cars in blind spots.

Likewise, the cross traffic alert works vey well. I've found it very useful for backing out of parking spaces

Actually I have had intermittent trouble with my Cross Traffic/Blind Spot. I have had two occasions where I have been driving on the highway, the light will come on and stay on for several days and error message on the left screen. It corrected itself for about a week and two days ago the same thing happened and today it again corrected itself. The alert works on the passenger side but not the drivers side. Ford is now thinking it may be a sensor problem because there is a left and right sensor. I was advised today that within the next few days (MFT quote) there will be an update, mainly to correct the clock issues so may wait for that update before dealing with the Bliss problem.

  13. I've used several Garmins throughout the years and really like them. But, so far, I like the nav on my new Edge better. I took one of my Garmins on our first long trip in the Edge just in case I had problems. Never needed it or even thought about it.

That's good news. I love my Garmin and have been using them for years, I found the Edge Nav. maps are years out of date. I think they are probably more up to date for the larger centers. I have decided, after using the ford nav, that I will be ordering the new Garmin (23-24 series) in the near future. I find the Edge Nav maps lack detail and I have an issue with the POI's. I guess everyone has different requirements and glad to hear that the Nav. on your Edge serves you well. I did a 30,000 Km road trip last spring and summer and it was so nice to be able to program routes in advance on the Garmin and loading up with POI's. I think you can program 100 routes into the new Garmin Nuvi.

  14. Dealer just called and said that the update was done but it didn't fix it. They contacted sync and they are aware of this issue and are working on update, the update will be released once they figure out how to resolve it.

Thanks for the report. I guess I will hold off then. Thanks for being the scape goat lol...keep us advised if anything new.

  15. Well GEE WHIZ k1200rsport, thank you very much. I didn't expect someone putting that much effort in solving my problem. I will return to dealer next week for my update. Thanks again and have a great weekend. I will let the forum know the results after update.

Looking forward to the results after your visit to the dealership.

  16. GRP2011, I contacted sync, and please see their reply below.

The Technical Service Bulletin 10-24-9 has been sent to the dealers for the My Touch System. Please contact them and schedule an appointment to bring in your vehicle for them to perform the update to your Ford My Touch system. Any dealer should be able to perform this update and the update is for the known issues that have been reported with the system. We apologize for any inconvenience. This is a well known issue with the My Ford/Lincoln Touch systems, and many vehicles were having problems with it. However, an update has been released that will resolve the issue that you are having.

    Hope this helps.

I was also speaking with sync on Thursday and was told the same regarding TSB 10-24-9. My only trouble is with the clock.

  17. ^ Yep, they sure have been Ed. Since the APIM replacement, all MFT/SYNC features are working fine. :)

    How is yours working?

First problems cropped up couple days ago while on the highway. But the Cross Traffic/Blind Spot alert corrected itself the following morning but the clock is all over the place...I think I have been in every time zone from Asia to NL with this clock. Jumped ahead 5 hours, then down to 3 and now about 2...should be in NST zone in couple more days..lol.

  18. I think the process of doing the status checker resulted in a reboot. This may be why stuff cleared up.

The one time I had the clock issue, It was when I was using the Nav system. Clock corrected when I went in and told it to use GPS time.

    Were you using Nav?

Thanks Wilson. I was using the Nav at the time. This morning I went into the clock menu to make sure it was using the GPS time and it was.

  19. I have had my Ford Edge Ltd for 3 weeks and yesterday the clock jumped ahead 4 hours. This morning it's 2 hours. All the settings are correct. Yesterday the Date/Year was incorrect, this morning the date is correct but the time is still out by 2 hours. Does anyone know if pulling the famous fuse 29 will correct the problem. Just got off the phone with Sync and they told me there is a TSB 10-24-9 that may correct the problem...I imagine it's just basically a Software Flash...but does it correct the clock issue. Just curious because to me the clock is not a major issue.
