  1. We just bought a AWD SEL Plus tonight and it is a very nice vehicle. The only option we wanted that was not installed was the OE roof rack. I inquired about adding it on and the accessories person was not very knowledgeable. Surprisingly, none of their customers have asked about this before so they had no idea how much or what it takes. Has anyone added this or know much about adding a rack? Thanks.

Since the standard car does not come with roof rails I have to believe that these can be installed by the dealer in pre-drilled holes under the plastic moulding of the car. I am a cylist too but made sure to order the car with the rails. I bet that Yakima and Thule will have a kit that screws into the factory holes soon. I'd check with them too since this may allow the trays to be installed closer to the roof.

  2. Was wondering with all this talk of the weight of the Edge, is the AWD and BAMR an addition to the weight of the car or is the published weight of around 4300 lbs without these acessories. I heard from reading a post that the vista roof adds a bit of weight to the car. So what is the true weight without these add on's? Thanks

  3. Saw a beautiful MKX in what they call a carbon color. I am hoping that is the same Grey Metallic with the Edge. I can't belive that during the paint portion of these cars assemby that the paint guns would have two differing Grey colors. They may call them different names but the same colors. Anyway that MKX is really nice and the sticker price reflects that too!

  4. I opted out of the BAMR due its limitations on adding a roof rack. I am a cyclist and did not want to limit carrying bikes on the roof rack. Additionally I have a moon roof on my current Maxima which I could care less to use so I figured that the insulating properties of a solid roof were better then a Vista roof but Ford made this an OPTION for me which I chose to ignore, different stokes. If I did live in a HOT climate which I think Washington DC qualifies as such I would pass on the BAMR option.

  5. HI I was told last week that they had shut down the 2007 edge line, and that I would have to wait til the 08 's start up mybe in sept. Are you for sure going to get an 07? Thx Gordon

YES ! I called my dealer and the order was pulled this past week. I was told it was more then likely the last order of 07 the dealer could get. Best of luck to you.

  6. Hello,

I finally found some time to introduce myself-

We love our Edge it replaces a 1999 Expedition we traded in.

Expedition was super for hauling our kids stuff back and forth the college. Only have 1 in college now, he has a house, so keeps his stuff at the house no need for a big hauler, but we still like the Independence of having an "SUV" should the need arise to bring something home.

I'm using Jill Wagner for my Avatar. She's part of the Ford family, albeit the LM side.

My Name: Drdisk. No I'm not a Chiropractor.

I'm a computer disk (storage) sales executive for a large computer company.

Why the Dr. ? My last name is the same as the first medical college in the USA.

    That's my introduction

    enjoy -

I have ordered my Edge with the same outside color but the darker color inside, can you post a photo of the inside and outside of your new car , Congrats Smiley

  7. Well I think I spent a ton of time driving but most importantly sitting in cars and SUV's to see which vehicle feels the best in the saddle. Ford Edge beats them all hands down. I drive for a living as a travelling salesman. Its important that the arm rests work for me, and the seats and car ergonomics work just right. The 2007 Edge SEL with FRONT wheel drive did the number for me. This is our 4 th Ford product. A 1990 Taurus with 140K, A 1995 Windstar with 175K and my wifes 2001 Escape with 36K. The first two cars are long gone. I am really looking forward to getting this Edge, due to the specialties I wanted I had to order it and my dealer tells me that this order maybe their last on 2007 model year. No biggie for me since I knew what is in store for 2008 and since I am not a electronics gadge freak I could do without the Microsoft options.

Got to say having an AWD Escape, I can look forward to a FWD better mileage Edge (25/18). I drove as everybody here and elsewhere noted the Nissan Maurano and got to say the DEAD spot in rear side vision was way too much for me to handle and I couldn't do without that safety issue, bear in mind my current car is a 2002 Nissan Maxima with 125K on it and it has to be the BEST 6 cylinder engine on the market ( turning radius sucks though). Anyway I am back with Ford again (not that I ever left). Thanks everybody for all your reviews and inputs, it helped me alot.
