  1. Close to 12,000 miles on my FWD 2007 Edge and just did a trip from Laurel MD to Chesapeke Va , Drove 346 miles and required 15.45 gallons to top/spill out of tank just as Ihad filled it up. The Speed when rolling down 95 S at 75 mph and I had the A/C on. It was windy going down and I stopped in Williamsburg and drove around to find a place to eat for the night. OK my trip computer said 23.4 mpg and if you figure it out exactly its 22.4 mpg which is what I normally discount by 1-2 mpg from what the computer reads out. I have stoped babying this car around as I have owned her since Sept 2007 and I drive for a living. These are good gas figures as this car loves the hwy and on my way back I had her in cruise control most of the way till I hit heavy traffic getting back into DC, ran about 23.5-24 mpg till I hit stop and go stuff around DC. Best of luck to you all.
  2. I did not know that BUT I am sure they were off when I was in my driveway trying to input an address. Thanks I'll re-check
  3. The dealer has ordered my a new unit which is in now but I won't bother getting into the shop till 10,000 miles which is my next oil change due date. Funny this problem appears and dissapears so my dealer just trusts me and ordered a new unit. Anybody else have this problem where boxes that you should be able to touch are not on screen like for example the address box to key in a new address? Thanks
  4. Since I started this thread, I now have over 7500 miles on my Edge which was delivered around Sept 10 th and I average around 19-22 mpg combined and I am driving the car like I don't care about the mpg and ITS GREAT. If I work on keeping my foot off the acellarator I am sure I can do better but now I know that this car does what they say it will do the rest is on me. Most of my work mates always comment on how comfortable this car is and thats really why I bought the Edge in the first place. BTW the comment about my bikes, these were road bikes with two BIG fellow riders that weekend in Jersey horse country where we were riding with friends. Enjoy your Edges and give them time to break in.
  5. 375 miles driven , 17.77 gallons filled to top off. Average speed via the computer was 66 mph driven on the Jersey turnpike. Three adults , three bikes on a rear hitch rack and plenty of cycling gear. Computer said I averaged 22.3 mpg ACTUAL MPG is 21.1 doing no less the 80 mph on the turnpike with no A/C running . Edge has just under 4800 miles now, Oh its a front wheel drive car too.

    20's

I have the 17 inch wheels on my car and I think in hindsight I should have ordered the 18 inch wheels since the 17's are really way too comfy but plenty good for my driving style. The 18's would harden up the ride a tad, the 20's maybe over kill. Additioanlly I would also consider how many miles a year you drive since I do about + 25 k as a travelling salesman and the cost of replacement anything over 17's will be more then I want to pay. Best of luck.
  7. On my 1995 windstar I had the same kind of rails on the van's top and I used clip on type Yakima bars for carrying windsurfers and my gear as well my 4 bikes. I ordered my Edge with these same rails since it's easier to add bars to them latter for a potential kayak and bikes.
  8. About 2450 miles on FWD Edge SEL. Last fill up at 20.2 gallons ( yes you read that right ), 429.5 miles travelled for an average of 21.26 with a computer reading of 21.7 mpg, 80 % hwy with A/C on. The computer also said 13 miles to empty and I topped off like I normally do. A believer now for sure.
  9. Better then 2200 miles on a month old 2007 Edge FWD, got over 400 miles down on this tank and the computer is telling me I need to think of filling up. This same computer is telling me I am 40 miles left to empty. Guess what I am pulling a Seinfeld and going the distance cause right now the computer is saying I am averaging 21.8 mpg and I think my gas tank with filler extension is better then 19 gallons cause everytime I fill her up I can add approx 2 more gallons of fuel from first cut out almost to spill out. Wish me luck cause I am riding or going to ride on fumes !!!! I got to find out what my tank capacity is and what my mpg on this fill up is. BTW about 80% hwy at 60-70 mph with A/C on and soft on the acelerations. The key is no jack rabbiting. Mileage is constantly improving and I love this car.
  10. 4 th tank of gas 371 miles and I used 15.1 gallons of fuel. Amazing as I again topped off till I could hear the gas in the filler pipe. This was 90 % hwy. odometer now reads about 1250 miles.
  11. I am having difficulty re-seting the trip info by pressing my re-set button on every field like the mpg or distance travellled. It just does not clear the data easily on a light/hard touch of the button, Anybody else have this same problem? Thanks
  12. I have + 800 miles on a 10 day old Edge FWD. My question is when the pump clicks off the first time, I can manually top off and add at least 1.5 - 2 more gallons of fuel in the tank. My last fill up was 302 miles driven and 16.67 gallons of fuel taken. Problem is I did top it off before this fill up and topped it off again today. The on board computer said 19.5 mpg and the calculated to TOP OFF is 18.11 mpg. Now this was about 80-85 % hwy with A/C and driving about 65-70 mph. I have to say the first three fill ups my gas mileage is going up with Time on the engine. My driving habits are no different. Love the car and NO DOUBT if I did average 55-60 mph Hwy I could get + 25 mpg. So how do we figure the top off, is it part of the 20 or 19 gallon volume ?
  13. Picked up an 07 car this past week and got a $ 1500 rebate from Ford which made it worthwhile getting an 07 and like u I did not want to deal with Sync and debugging it. Good luck
  14. I'd like to add that I did order this car from a dealer that I bought 3 other Fords from and when it arrived I asked politely if the newly issued rebates would apply to this ordered car and they gave me the $ 1500 rebate off my 2007 Edge which is ICING on the cake and made it worth it not waiting for a 2008 model.
  15. OK, Many here are spot on with your Edge observations so let me add my own although only 24 hours old and + 215 miles older I will throw my 2 cents in. Dash Board Glare: I drive as a salesman for a living and today was HOT sunny and humid. I deliberately did not order a BAMR cause I can't stand the sun from a sun roof beaming into my vision. I find that I can drive more comfortably and longer with good polarized R/X glasses and my Edge has a convienant place to store my sun glasses. The glare is there for sure if you concentrate and look for it. My question is "What were those engineers thinking by placing any shiny chrome within the dashboard and windshield sight lines". It's really no bother to me but I can see it bugging others here. All in all not a deal breaker for me on this new Sand Stone dash and interior. Gas Mileage: I decided to fill up after doing my daily sales calls today alone, 209 miles and my dealer filled it up and delivered it to me yesterday supposedly full. So about 25 % city dirving and 75 % hwy with full A/C and doing about 65-70 mph on the hwy. Trip computer said I got 18.5 mpg but topping the tank off at the gas station I filled up to 11.7 gallons and 209 miles for a average of 17.86 mpg and I suspect and figure that the dealer did not top off to FULL like I did. Not bad since the car is not even broke in yet. Oh yeah FWD BTW. Ergonamics and comfort: 6 ft tall and 180 lbs and I just could have fallen asleep in the seats. My only gripe is no foot rest for the Left idle foot. I would have dosed off it that could be addressed. Really a comfortable car like all have said so before me. Radio : Five stars and better then I thought it would be. Anybody know where I can get my jack for my I-Pod to the plug in the the arm rest box?? Performance: The engine did not dissapoint one bit given that I was moving 4200 lbs around. I had test driven a CX-7 and a Saab 9.3 Combi both Turbo charged engines and found the whiney sound and the turbo kick to be annoying and a sign that the gas was being sucked out of the tank. I liked the slow rev's of the Duratec engine and love the transmission finding the optimum RPM's. Anyway so far so good and BTW the NAV system is the BOMB and no more telling my clients that I got lost getting there:) Really thanks to all that post since with all your inputs I was able to focus on what you all have said. No car I test drove was perfect at leat not in my price range and budget and with all the driving I do I really wanted a SAFE and comfortable road car that can haul my toys around on the weekends.
  16. FWD with roof rails and trailer hitch and NAV along with premium sound. Just got it from the dealer as it arrived today almost 6 weeks from when I ordered it. I LOVE the Charcoal metalic with the Sand interior leather ofcourse. Sound system is as good if not better then my Nissan Maxima stereo and that's saying something. Look forward to many joyful miles. Thanks all for your input and feedback.
  17. I would say the back up alarm would be a must option for me.
  18. Just tell me what you bought and maybe why if you chose to do so. Thanks
  19. Just curious how many of you opted for AWD and how many for FWD. I chose FWD since my wife has an AWD Escape at home. Never really got stuck in 6 years with a FWD Nissan Maxima in Washington DC area weather either.
  20. Rockfish, I hear what your saying and I have followed all the good and the bad about the Edge too especially with braking concerns. I would tend to trust Motorweek and have seen the review on video via Cars.com site and indeed its 146 ft. I plan on up-grading brake pads and tires once they wear out to something better. But with almost 90,000 combined cars sold trough July 2007 I would wager to say that somebody has had a panic stop by now. Anyway brakes can be improved upon but and I always find that TIRES and the rubber adheasion to the road is my best improvement as I tend to buy tires with softer durometers for best wet traction and sacrifice for better wear. YMMV and best of luck in your choices.
  21. You seem to be in the know on all things Brakes. Can I after my brakes wear out have my dealer up-grade the rotors and calipers to a size larger, like the AWD ones if its true that these are larger then for the FWD version. Any advise thanks.
  22. I doubt that a Reese after market hitch would not be shaped to get around these objects. I ordered mine from the factory for the transmission cooler and the heavier battery. Check the Reese hitch website.
  23. I think you may have a gasket thats leaking around where the cooling fluid circulates. I am sure it will be warranty
  24. FWD SEL with Carbon Metallic and Stone interior. They being the dealer says it will be arriving to them on Sept. 3. My Maxima is already spoken for so I switch cars the same day. Can't wait !!!
