  1. I picked up my 2011 Ford Edge Limited this evening. Talking about sensory overload!!! But I like it! Didnt spend much time with it this evening but I am sure over the next few days I will start learning the controls and everything else.
  2. It seems all salesmen are different. Mine I have called every 5 to 6 days to check. I have even stopped in at the dealership and he brings the shipment up on the computer and shows me the dates.
  3. Dumpy, that was the hard part we were not sure what the Earth color would actually end up like. It was #2 on our list for that reason. Good choice of color though! With the snow in Edmonton and Calgary the AWD is definately a must for the winter. I have a 4WD Escape right now and it is doing its job well.
  4. not sure what the price difference is between US and CAN but I got my limited for $35k + 5% tax. This was on a Limited AWD with an MSRP of $43k. There were promotions on in December when I ordered it. The invoice on this one was $40k.
  5. I placed my order on December 1 and it is on route to Alberta. Checked with the dealer and on Sunday it was in Wisconsin due to arrive Feb 4. Limited, AWD, Black with standard 18" rims.
  6. Is the $38,289 from the Ford.ca or the ford.com site? the MSRP on the Ford.ca site for the AWD limited plus the touring package is $43,050 ($41,650 + $1,400). Your $38,290 seems to be a deal. The Invoice on this would be around $41,500 (includes the freight fee) for the dealership prior to their bonuses from Ford.
  7. Greener, congrats on you new purchase. I am still waiting for mine. Still 6 to 8 weeks away though:-(
  8. it sounds like they are fixing the problem. I am honestly not concerned about this. I joined this forum before I decided to make my purchase and this did not change my mind.
  9. i hope so. it was the one thing I wasnt sure if we would get value from. Now I can see for myself!!!:-)
  10. mushroom88 .....yes I am in Edmonton. The wait a few payments is also what I was told. Thank you
  11. hancop, I am fine with you stating this. However, i did get the $4000 off my negotiated price. I just talked to my dealer again this morning to confirm this. They have done many of these allowances and they have done them the way I explained. Maybe the Toronto dealerships do it differently. Not sure. I have had two dealers in Edmonton tell me they take the $4000 off after we agree to a negotiated price and that the Dealer gets the allowance since it is a Factory to Dealership allowance not a Factory to Bank allowance.
  12. Okay, so I just talked to my dealership and it is the Dealership who gets the $4000. My dealership taked the $4000 off the negotiated price prior to applying tax. They have done many of these and there has never been an issue. Not sure how the dealerships are applying the credit in Toronto but I would ask them more questions. I would hope that your dealers are not just pocketing the $4000. He said this is a Factory to DEALERSHIP allowance. My dealer is taking the negotiated price less COSTCO less the FINACE ALLOWANCE then applies fees and tax. This is the $ that I am financing.
  13. Mushroom88 - I went with the $4000 extended term financing on my 2011 Edge Limited. But others on the forum are saying that the $4000 goes to the bank and not to the customer. Do you know how your dealer is applying the credit? The way I understood it was that the bank would get the $4000 after the second loan payment and that $4000 would be applied to the principal balance of the loan. I also plan to pay out the loan with another one at a rate that is a lot less than the dealership negotiated one.
  14. i will call my dealer tomorrow. As I mentioned, my cash price has the $35k which is reduced by $4k already. The way I understood it was that once you make the required 2 payments on the loan Ford gived the bank the $4k but it is applied to your principal on the loan.

  15. Hancop - I will talk to my dealer again tomorrow. I was dealing with three different dealers and the way Greener had it in his post is how it was explained to my. How the dealer buys down the rate is up to them. My dealer has two banks they use for this TD and Scotiabank. It is possible that the dealers negotiate with the bank how this works. For example, the bank may agree to send the $4000 back to the dealership for them sending the customer to the bank. The dealer then reduces the cash price for the customer to send it back to the customer. My cash price already has the $4000 credit taken off prior to tax being calculated. This the same as the costco rebate. Factger - I am through Scotiabank. The 1.75% below prime is based on us turning that portion of the line of credit into a mortgage at a variable rate. Also, all my credits and rebates were applied before tax.
  16. greener, I am in Edmonton. So we dont have the same taxes as other provinces, just GST. The 2.25% is based on my secure line of credit. I get prime less 1.75% as a variable rate but chances of this getting up to 5.99% is 5 years is fairly low based on market information currently available. The cost of carrying the loan is always where I get antsy so I always try to minimize where I can. The $4000 credit is really eating up most of the carrying cost anyways. Hope I helped.
  17. Greener, no problem. I ran all the numbers based on 84 months (w/$4000 credit) @ 5.99%, 72 months (no credit) @ 3.99%, 60 months @ 1.99% and even 60 months at 0% eventhough that wasnt available. At the end of the day the 60 months at 0% was the cheapest and the 84 months with the credit was the second cheapest for all in cash cost. If I was you I would consider the finance credit of $4000. If you are able to get a lower rate from your home branch bank you can arrange to pay the 84 month loan out after you apply the $4000. I honestly blew it off at first until I decided to run the numbers as well as made sure I could get a lower rate somewhere else. The way it worked was this: Option 1: Go 84 months @ 5.99% then pull the balance after two payments (i can get 2.25%) Option 2: Go 84 months @ 5.99 % and leave it in Option 3: Go 60 months @ 1.99% Option 4: Go 60 months @ 0% (not currently available but still looked at this for comparison) Results were in order of cheapest all in-cost: Option 1 - Base = $40,000 Option 4 - Base + $1,380 Option 2 - Base + $2,540 Option 3 - Base + $3,259 Hope that makes sense.
  18. Just ordered mine a few nights ago. My salesman said once the get allocation they will then get the VIN. He expected it would take two weeks to get the VIN and delivery would be 6 to 8 weeks from my order date on my sales agreement.
  19. Greener, I was able to negotiate the actual price for the vehicle to $40,469 + tax (this is $1000 below dealer invoice). Then Ford has a financing credit if you finance the vehicle through a bank (not Ford Credit). This credit is $4000. The rate on this would be 5.99%. It is an open loan so it can be paid out without penalties. To get the credit you must show you made two payments on the loan. Our plan is to move the loan into another loan at our home branch @ 2.25% and a shorter term. So with the $4000 credit it brings the price down to $36,500. Then there is the Coscto credit for $1,000 that started on Dec 1. That brings the price down to $35,500. Then add GST. So to summarize: Purchase Price: $40,469 LESS Finance Credit ($4,000) LESS Costco: ($1000) Total Cash Price before GST: $35,500 With GST: $37,275 I am an accountant so I ran about 8 different options and even though we need to sign the 84 month term at 5.99% it is actually the cheapest wat to go due to the $4000 credit which pretty much pays for any interest that would be incurred. There is a bit of a difference compared to my last post but I rounded a few figures in this one. Good luck!!!
  20. Trisha, it sure was the easiest part of the price negotiation:-) The dealer expects it will take 6 weeks so that puts delivery around Jan 15!!!
  21. Here is an update since I ordered my 2011 last night. I ordered the Limited AWD w/Drivers Entry Package, Canadian Touring Package and block heater. My total price for the purchase after rebates and credits was $37,485. Purcashe in Edmonton, Alberta. It was my luck that starting December 1st Ford and Costco re-introduced the $1,000 costco member rebate!!!!!
  22. thank you for all your comments. I just got back from the dealership at ordered the Limited AWD with the Driver's package, Canadian Touring package and a block heater!!!!! Now I wait:-(
  23. I am going tonight to make my purchase here in Edmonton, Alberta. Most likely will be going with the following: 2011 SEL AWD -Driver's package -Canadian Comfort Package -SYNC -NAV -Block Heater - Price is $38,699 + GST (invoice is $39,393) - there is also a Financing credit given by Ford if you finance the vehicle over 84 months. This is a $4000 credit after you make your second payment. Other option is i could go with the 2011 Limited AWD - Driver's package - Canadian comfort package - NAV - Block heater - Price $40,399 + GST (invoice is $41,170). Same $4000 would apply.
  24. the stereo comment was something I wasnt sure of. We are getting the NAV package on the SEL and that comes with the Sony stereo but it doesnt say if you get the extra speakers when you go with the Sony stereo. If anyone has the SEL with the NAV/Sony system can you tell me if you get the extra speakers?
  25. Thanks for the quick response. We would be getting the Driver's package if we go with the SEL as well. The driver's package does not come with the memory seats. The memory seats are not available on the SEL in any package. I thought the up and down would be worth it but if it slides back I will not be bumping my knee on the steering column. I am getting $1000 below invoice price on the SEL AWD due to a dealer mistake but they are honouring the mistake and they would honour the difference for the Limited if we go that way as well.
