Greetings, So I ordered a 2011 Ford Edge SEL from the factory. It should get here in about 2 months, and after a short break-in period I'd like to put in HIDs. I have some questions, some of which I do not find answers to in other threads so I figure I'd just re-ask everything here. 1 - Lenses A friend said that I would probably want a lense for it (I "imagine" the clear plastic housing). He said it scattered the light less. Where can I find them? Or do I need to go to a jumkyard and try to salvage a "Limited" version that had it installed from the factory. If I don't get one, how bad is the scatter? I ask because my last car had them as a factory option and they looked nice and crisp. 2 - Which kits? I go to HIDGEEKS but their guide on sylvania doesn't have the 2011 Ford Edge (only 2010). I know a bunch of stuff got changed around with the 11's so I don't want to trust the 2010 info. Which parts do I need? I'm hearing 9006 and 9012 being thrown around on the threads, which one do I need. Preferably, the one that "fits in the best" as I'd rather not have to cut/trim plastic. 3 - Slim Ballast? I don't mind the extra $20. Do I get anything useful out of it (like easier install)? Or will the fact that it's slim mean it will "rattle around" inside the casings. One site I read mentioned that they have lower failure rates, but I don't know if that's just bunk. Again, I don't care about the $20. 4 - Best place to order them? I see hidgeeks.com mentioned a bunch. I also see retrosolutions.com mentioned, but it seems like retro is no more (just a portal linking to other sites, and it's for sale). I want quality, so I don't mind spending a little extra. Any other info would be appreciated.

WIth my last car, and some of my friends, a PDF copy of the owner's manual is posted on the car's fan sites. Is there a PDF version of the PDF for the 2011 Ford Edge SEL posted somewhere? I ordered one from the factory and I should be getting it in about 2 months. However I'd like to familiarize myself with some stuff before I get it. I thought I found one, but it was just a 5-page intro. I'm looking for the long owner's manual describing the buttons, use, oil-change-instructions, etc. On my last car, said manual was a few hundred pages long.

Most of the posts I see about this are older. Likewise some of the sites I find say they're only compatible until 2009 Edge. I ordered my Edge today from the Factory. With the holiday coming up it's probably 8-10 weeks away. Anyway, I love the look of the Edge but I'm not a fan of the antenna. Are there any good stubby replacements for the 2011 Edge? Is the loss of signal noticeable? Thanks

Silly question. 2011 Ford Edge 202a Leather comfort package other options... A friend was saying only the front seats are leather. Is this true? I thought both rows were leather with the learther package.

Weren't you the one that posted in this thread that you were having it updated recently, like Wednesday or today (Thursday)? So, other than the color selection is it working good? Also, did they charge you for the update? I'm holding off on ordering an Edge until the majority of the software issues are resolved. So I'm eagerly awaiting some people reporting their software update statuses.

There are obviously issues with the MyFordTouch.... But not every phone works well with advanced BlueTooth systems. Heck, some even have trouble with simple BlueTooth headsets, let alone advanced syncing. Which is why some of the more advanced smart phones update their firmware every now and then. I'm not saying your problem is the phone, but it's a chance. Can ask a friend or co-worker with a different model phone (with BlueTooth) to give it a shot?

I'm over 5'11" but I sit taller. Put me next to someone just over 6' and my head is as high as his (if not higher). Headroom is always a major problem with me. I test drove an Edge SEL last week and the big thing was the sunroof/moonroof. It's like that for me on a lot of cars. With the sunroof/moonroof on cars, I tend to only have 1 inch of clearance (if that). You lose a little head-room due to the circuitry and such they have to put up there. Which is why when I order my Edge in a couple of months I'm making sure it does NOT have a sunroof/moonroof.

I really don't see the point of browsing websites, updating FaceBook, etc. GPS, stereo, and maybe the occasional hands-free phonecall is all I would care about. As for phone calls, I even tend to avoid the hands free call. Most of the time the call can wait until I get to my destination, though I'll answer and immediately ask if it's urgent. The extend of my phone calls: - I'm going to be late to X - I'm going to Y, text me a shopping list - etc If the person tries to strike up a conversation, I tell them I have to go.

How is my post a troll? I posted in 2 categories since I didn't know which one would have users that KNOW the answer (2011 model / AWD powertrain) It's a serious question, and scanning through the multi-page threads in other categories on this page, I can't find an answer. From what I can tell the 2010 still had the issue. From what I can also tell, they made *some* changes to the 2011 model. But I don't know if the PTU is one of them. I seriously want the car, but I also don't want to "roll the dice" on the issue since I lack a sense of smell.

I'm seriously considering the Edge. However, I have cruddy luck when it comes to hardware. If there's a piece of equipment or hardware with a semi-common occurence of a poor issue, I'll usually be one of the unlucky buyers that experiences it. As such, when it comes to cars I've decided to avoid the the vehicle if it's anything major (like this). Plus, from what I hear one of the early indicators is a burning scent, but I lack the ability to smell so I'm afraid I won't notice until it's too late. So, is the issue resolved with the 2011's? Anyway, what I'm considering: 2011 Ford Edge SEL AWD Bordeaux Red Spec 202A Navigation stereo upgrade NO sunroof/moonroof
