  1. Hi, I need help.... I received recall/update letter 10B20. This was a request by Ford to bring your Edge back in for a Sync/MyFordTouch update-upgrade. I took mine into the dealer this past Friday. When I picked it up, I found that the MFT screen had changed. It still sort of looks the same. But I do not have any options anymore that came with my particular model. I purchased the Edge Limited AWD. The options I found missing are: Navigation section is completely gone. Reverse Backup Parking assist camera is dead. Climate section has things missing like the heated seats etc. Sirius radio is gone and little things like the ambient lighting screen is totally missing. This was the screen with the colored balls and you could pick out a color. The only color I have is the purple. These are the things that I have found. There may be more in the back ground. I had to re-pair my bluetooth phone myself over the weekend and it seems to be working. I no longer have the 911 assist though. Does anyone know if Ford decided to eliminate some options with the upgrade? I don't think this is fair. Some of these like the Navigation were very expensive when I purchased the car. If this upgrade is not right... has anyone else experienced this and what was done to fix it? Maybe I can relay it back to the dealer. Thanx Amy.
  2. Sorry my first try at attaching didn't work. I think they uploaded this time. Amy Ford 10B20.pdf Ford 10S14.pdf
  3. Tony, Attached are the letters I received. 10B20 is for the Software Upgrade. The other is the Defective Module Recall letter. I just received mine this past Friday Jan. 21, 2011. So it is possible you have not received one yet. Hope the letters upload & attach. Never did it before. Amy I
  4. Hi Tony, I live in the U.S., It is a Limited Edition AWD. My Edge was delivered Nov. 12, 2010. I do not have the letters with me as I write this. I'll get the details and let you know. I can't go to my Dealer until later this week to talk to them in person. They asked me to bring the letters in so they could read them. Sort of thought they may have received a bulletin or something about this, but not sure how a recall is handled. I'll find out in a couple of days when I show them the letters they requested. I've read else where here at this Forum site, that most software updates must be done by the Dealer. I believe if you have MyTouch with navigation, that the navigation part can be updated when necessary by replacing the memory card with an updated version. But that's mainly for maps, P.O.I.'s etc. not the actual operating system. I'll scan the letters and try to attach them here so you can read them. Amy.
  5. Sigh, Just received the letter telling me my car may catch fire. The letter says it should take 1/2 day to fix. But later in the letter, if you read between the lines, Ford says they can't really say how long the fix will take. Plus a second letter saying some software needs changed and requires me to schedule a second appointment at the dealer too. Owned four Nissans with zero recalls in the last 30 years. Finally went back to an American car company and now 2 recalls in the first month??!! Not an optimistic relationship, Amy
  6. Thanx rw, Yes trips that require a lot of turning or for longer trips, the breadcrumbs are nice if you can save the trip as a favorite, or use it to navigate backwards with audio guidance. I agree with you. I've experimented with every angle, and studied the breadcrumbs in the navigation system. It can really only be used as live markers and not be saved. Also if you backtrack with the breadcrumbs, it's all manual. You have to watch the screen, to retrace your steps. So as you say, a bit useless. I hope the developers reevaluate this little feature which can be very powerful if used right. Even the cheapest portable GPS's have usable breadcrumbs and is a key feature of the unit. Amy
  7. Hi, 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD. For Navigation. If you press Menu / Settings / Navigation - then go to the Breadcrumbs option. It gives you the option to turn Breadcrumbs on or off. Does anyone use this option and could help me out? I tried turning the Breadcrumbs to on and then went on a short trip to experiment. After driving around a little, I can't figure out how to bring the Breadcrumbs memory up to view where I traveled. My old dashboard / handheld GPS gave options to save breadcrumbs and then run the trip in reverse etc. Maybe I'm misunderstanding Ford's definition of Breadcrumbs. I studied both manuals for this and found only one page that mentions breadcrumbs. It really only tells you how to turn it on, but not how to access or use it after it's on. If someone can set me on the right path, it would be appreciated. I used breadcrumbs a lot on my old GPS portable navigator. This is the first Nav I've used that is built right into the car. So maybe it means something completely different in the Ford. Thanks in advance for any help, Amy
