  1. So when I was researching the Edge online I saw that there was a storage box to the left of the steering wheel. Now that I've got it home I see that they must have stopped including it in Canadian models for 2018. Looking on-line it looks like the part I need to order is FK7Z-5813546-AB that runs about $130.

My question is, will this part just drop into the hole where the filler panel is or do I need to order additional parts? Th only picture I've found online isn't very clear so I'm hoping that someone can take a few pictures and post them for me. Thanks in advance.

    Here's what I've got

and I found this one online but i can't see how its mounted

  2. I just went through this decision process and after driving the 2.0EB, the 3.5NA & the 2.7EB I went with the 3.5NA. Power was adequate with the 2.0EB & 3.5NA for my driving, the 2.7EB was peppier and more fun but I found the 2.0EB too buzzy and the the 2.7EB too growly. I wanted something that would work for both city and lots of long distance highway.

  3. After a few years of not looking after my chrome clad wheels they looked horrible. I tried different options to get the built up brake dust off but nothing worked. I came across a suggestion on line that I thought was worth sharing here, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It took about 30 minutes per wheel and I went through 5 erasers but the results were amazing. They were gentle on the wheels but took off the most stubborn build up.
The picture below shows the worst wheel before I finished cleaning it

  4. This happened to my bride earlier today. Car unlocked normally (key was in her purse as usual) but then told her there was no key present when she tried starting it. She fished the key out of her purse and tried again with no joy. As a last resort she hit the lock and unlock buttons on the fob and tried again at which point the car started normally.

Hope this procedure helps someone else out of a bind.

  5. This happened to me and the dealer replaced the multi switch at the base of the stalk. I found that if you hold the stalk in the opposite direction they cancel out so it stops. I tied my in place with some jute which allowed me to signal in the stuck direction by stressing against the jute but after releasing the jute would hold it back in the opposite direction. It looked pretty ghetto but worked until I could get it fixed. Driving on the highway with the turn indicator going continuously was really annoying and appeared to confuse some of the other drivers.

  6. How long ago was the install of 3.5.1? Was a master reset done before installing? Have you tried a master reset after the install?

It was done at the dealership and I can't remember if I did a master reset at the time so I've done another one today although I'm not convinced it worked as I only lost my phone pairing and none of the radio or Sirius presets.

  7. I'm also having turn signal issues. I put my left turn signal on at the mall and it won't go off and I can't signal a right turn either. The only way I can get it to stop is to hold the turn stalk to try indicate a right turn and then it stops flashing left and won't flash right.

I'm getting tired of this vehicle. After 22 months and coming up on 24,000 miles (40,000 kms) I've already had it back to the dealer for 4-ways that stuck on, MFT issues, lousy voice recognition, blind spot sensor errors & wipers that turn on when it's sunny and barely sweep in the rain. I've got the extended warranty but can't see hanging on to this vehicle for a day longer than the warranty.

  8. My guess would be different update rates for the two displays.

I was thinking it was likely that the cluster display rounds up or down while the centre display looks like it is truncating so that a temp of 33.6 displays as 34 in the cluster and as 33 on the touch screen.

Sorry but it's my inner geek leaking out.

  9. I guess I was so agitated when I posted that I didn't express myself clearly enough. I'm on 3.0.2 but my flasher problem got sorted out with the 2.11 update.

These ongoing MFT problems remain a disgrace. I don't even want to think about the hit we are all going take come trade-in time. If Ford doesn't cough up some sort of compensation then they deserve a major class action suit.

  10. I've had all of the common flasher issues but today's events pushed me over the edge (no pun intended)

Since day 1, I had issues accidentally triggering them. I tried to avoid the flasher button when using the touch screen and thought I was getting good at it until the day I tried to turn the flashers on and they wouldn't come on. Tried pulling fuse 29 and master reset with no success. I upgraded to 2.11 and they magically started working again albeit still very sensitive. The performance update seemed to improve things as it appeared to decrease the sensitivity, but the problems remain.

Today I pull up in a no parking zone to unload some boxes and I turn on the flashers. They didn't respond to the 1st couple of touches but on the 3rd attempt they came on.

I finished unloading the boxes and this is where the fun begins as the flashers won't turn off. I tried everything, short touches, long touches, master resets, pulling fuse 29, disconnecting the battery, all to no avail. Cycling through all of these for several hours the button finally responded after probably my thousandth touch.

I'm now at the point where we are afraid to drive the vehicle in case the flashers get stuck on or are not available if we need them. This is unacceptable for a new vehicle. We'll see what the dealer can do this week as we are heading off on vacation soon.

  11. Ok - you want a sandbox where you can bitch and gripe with each other? Do it here and I'll stay out of it.

I'll start another thread for the people who just want reliable information without having to listen to all of the crap.

    ...

But like I said above - feel free to vent, bitch, gripe, moan and groan about what Ford is or isn't doing and I'll stay out of it. Just keep it in this thread please.

    ...

So discuss, vent, gripe - whatever makes you feel better.

Keep venting if it makes you feel better.

You implied it. Now drop it. Further posts will be deleted. I'm tired of arguing with you.

  12. Hey guys, so finally I made the call to insurance. Unfortunately I don't quality for the "accident forgiveness" clause, but they did agree to cover everything including towing and car rental except the $1000 deductible. Car is towed away now, I'm finally relieved! They told me by going with their designated shop they will guarantee a fix and there will be less red tape in the process , hopefully I will get the Edge back soon!

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Just remember that it is your right to have it fixed where you (or the lessor) want it fixed and you don't need to let the insurance company bully you into their shop (which probably costs them less) if you are concerned about cheap parts. In the end, now that you have made the claim, it won't make any difference to your rates if it costs them $5k or $20k for the repairs.

Hope it all works out for you.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

  13. ouch, that really sucks! Yea this car is leased, I probably should let Campbell Ford know this first before I try anything with a private body shop. All instruments are still functioning as normal, the check engine light haven't appeared, so I hope nothing broke mechanically. Do you mind telling if your insurer covered everything? Because in my case everything happened on my own property and there is nothing/no one else involved (even the tree is on our lawn), not sure what they will do.

Ours was undrivable after the accident with coolant all over the ground so it's clear we hit harder. It was taken to Campbell's and in the end the insurance covered the purchase price of the vehicle (less deductible) because it was less than 2 years old, rental, & towing. Our insurance rates didn't go up as we had 5* protection with Pilot that allowed for a "free" accident without driving rates through the roof.

  14. Many insurance policies in Ontario will forgive an accident if you have been accident free for 5 years so check your policy. If you are dealing with a good broker you should be able to talk to the principle who may be able to provide better advice "off the record" but if you're with a discount direct brokerage this approach wouldn't work.

As to the costs, be prepared to be shocked. We had what sounds like similar front end damage 4 years ago to our escape that ran to $20k as a result of a winter storm. Vehicle looked perfect from the sides & back except for the hood that was up a bit but it was still a right off. Hopefully you were going slow enough that the damage isn't as severe. If you financed or leased you may have to notify them as well. Leases very often restrict who can do repairs.

    Good luck!

  15. So on Sept 17th I upgraded to 2.11 and MFT started behaving itself much better apart from weekly "system maintenance" restarts but nothing I couldn't live with. On Nov 24th I took it into the dealership for a number of minor but annoying tech issues (wipers, ACC, BLIS) and they reloaded 2.11 but ever since it is doing daily "system maintenance" restarts and the tech faults are still there!

On Sunday MFT starts acting really crazy, very slow to respond, wouldn't update the screens properly, complaining about GPS faults every minute. I disconnected my iPod and was hoping it would do the "system maintenance" restart thing but after half a dozen short trips yesterday it wouldn't do it on its own so I resorted to crawling around in the slush this morning and pulled fuse 29.

This new version can't come soon enough. :censored: With the GPS fault almost continuously displayed it was very distracting to try use MFT for anything as you had to acknowledge the fault and then hope to get in the required button responses before the slow response and GPS fault blocked what you were trying to do. :banghead:

  16. My upgrade from 2.4 took almost exactly 45 minutes.

Initially this is looking much better. The car is starting to act like the one I ordered.

Problems I've see that appear fixed are

voice recognition doesn't work at all when driving - fixed with MFT 2.11

navigation doesn't provide turn by turn directions anymore, just chimes - fixed with MFT 2.11

generally very sluggish - better with MFT 2.11

4 way flashers won't com on - fixed with MFT 2.11

still waiting to see if these are gone as they were more intermitent

navigation will lose GPS while driving - vehicle must be restarted to clear

nav display orients at an odd angle and vehicle position doesn't track on roads

    rearview camera sticks on

bluetooth hangs when trying to place call within 5 minutes of starting vehicle

system performs "scheduled maintenance" fairly regularly while driving

keeps losing pairiing with Blackberry Torch
