  1. I also noticed that production starts next month - See my post in buying/leasing. I suspect its linked to the "all new" 2014s and the plant re-tooling needed or perhaps production will move out of Canada back to the U.S. for the new model. Is Oakville CA confirmed as the plant for the next generation?

  2. I checked the Ford Parts site (WWW.FORDPARTS.COM) and the headrest change happened with vehicles built after 10/24/2011 since the parts are listed there. What you may need to do is find a 2012 model built after that date with your interior color and do a parts lookup with that cars serial number. I also noticed a seat back part change a bit earlier but I'm not sure why.

  3. I've taken several trips now in my 2011 LTD AWD and noticed that sometimes when I let-off the throttle around the 50-60 mph range the vehicle feels like the brakes are being partially applied or the transmission is causing exceptional drag. The vehicle seems to s;ow down too quickly. I thought this was some sort of hill-decent but I don't think the edge has that feature. Could one of these TSBs cause this problem?

  4. Glad to hear it worked for you once. Painter's tape is not too thick, so what you may find is that a stone could still penetrate that tape barrier and still make a mark. It will give you some protection at the least I guess. You may have to use Goo-gone, Iso propyl alcohol or a light solvent to remove the adhesive, but that's not a big deal.

Only the painters tape touches the hood - The duct tape directly covers the painters tape. Removal leaves no residue and it holds in the rain. Overall it lasts for several days and does protect from the bugs and stones.

  5. Of all the awesome tech features on the 11 Edge Limited, I have to say the adaptive cruise control even exceeded my expectations the most. Since I drive fairly fast it was always frustrating to have to cancel or hit the break every time someone was driving slow in the left lane using traditional cruise control - it almost became pointless to have it. No with this feature, all the 'stress' is gone. I still have trouble understanding why people drive slow in the left lane but that's a different story.

For anyone getting an Edge of these, if you can stretch the budget a bit I can't recommend this feature enough. Especially if you are already getting the Limited and were planning on adding package - I strongly suggest bumping up to the 302A. Suffice it to say all future vehicles I drive will have this.

Just drove 1,100 miles with it and it works great and it does not set-off my radar detector. It takes a bit to ged used to but well worth it.

  6. Just drove 1,100 miles (Chicago to Wilmington NC) in a 2011 LTD AWD with the 20" wheels 4 passengers full of luggage 70 to 75 MPH with the A/C on and averaged 24 MPG in the flat lands and 23 MPG in the mountains. Just turned 3500 miles on the clock. Overall a nice ride but the sync is a bit buggy. I,m very satisified with the mileage.

  7. Go over to Blue Oval News and there is a link to the 2012 order guide. New colors new side mirrors (same as 2011 job 2 plus turn signal indicators), front spoiler color matched to the car plus ecoboost 4. 10 way power seat on passenger side (limited)

  9. It has already been over 100 degrees here in Phoenix 4 or 5 times now, and my Auto does the exact opposite of yours on those days. It tends to raise the fan speed up to full blast with max a/c for a few minutes. This says to me that it does use both sensors when determining fan speed, as akirby suggested. The only VERY ANNOYING part of the system is that re-circ doesn't stay on when on Auto mode. If I turn on re-circ when on Auto mode it turns itself off every few minutes. Sure wish I could figure out how to keep it from turning off when in Auto. UGH!

Re-circ only runs for a short duration since it will get too dry in the vehicle. Also most climate control systems also have a solar load sensor located in the center of the dash top that is also a input parameter to the climate control.

  10. Does anybody has the 2.8 update? i have 2.4 right now, and having alot of problems with my phone & other things. the dealer here in curacao doesn't know what i'm talking about upgrades.

if anybody has it, could you please email it to me at ryancomputer@msn.com?

Go to syncmyride.com and follow the download/update instructions

  11. As new fuel economy rules kick in over time those heavy 20" and 22" wheels will fade into history. A dumb styling move that may please the eye but does nothing for performance; nothing.

My Edge rides great with the 20" wheels - FYI sometimes the dealer really airs up the tires causing a hard ride. The one you test drove may have been the same way. Mine was delivered with 45 LBS (its suppose to be 35 lbs) in the tires and I noticed it right away. FYI 20 and 22" wheels will continue just the wheels will get lighter. MY CTS is available with 19s. Corvettes age offering 20s, Also if I remember correctly Edge with 20" wheels have a slightly higher final gear ratio (I think the same as the sport) for a little extra zip.
