  1. I have the same vehicle (SEL AWD). Good to hear you have the same stats. Couldn't believe the difference between city and highway. Thought it was just my car
  2. I have been reading a lot of topics concerning MPG, but I don't see any mention of the average speed of the vehicle (nifty little feature on your computer). The average speed is what really sets the MPG (ie. city stop and go vs Highway). THere is obviously going to be differences between people depending on how fast they are really going and how long they remain idle for (ie lights and traffic). The computer keeps track of this. Here are my latest stats: City @ an average speed of 18-21 miles/hr I am getting 12-14 MPG Highway @ and average speed of 55-62 miles/hr I am getting 21-23 MPG.
  3. Alright Folks....I may have the answer for this problem. My 2007 AWD SEL started with this burning smell a few months ago. No leaks, no puddles, the odd smoke but mostly a strong burning oil smell in the car, especially when stoped at a light with the windows closed and the heater on. I live 15 minute away from the factory in Oakville so the dealer ship called in the engineers to look at the car. At first they could not find the problem, but on the second attempt tey identified the problem. It is the axle seal on the right (passager) side of the car. Only the right side is affected. THis problems seems to happen only in the AWD vehicles on the right side only. The problem is the type of seal they used and it is difficult to install. There first and second attempt failed and the seal still leaked. After the failed attempts they called in the Chief Engineer from Ford Oakville and between him and the dealership they developed a procedure for installing the seal. The third (or forth attempt as I lost track...) it looks like they got it. The smell is gone. The PTU was never replaced. THe delaer ship is Discovery Ford in Burlington. They know the procedure for the proper installation. It has to do with heating the seal in place to install it. Hope this helps.
  4. We I brought it to the dealer, they had no idea what the problem was. They called the Ford Plant and they told them to order a bunch of parts for the transmission and start replacing one at a time until they find the problem. (didn't have that good fuzzy feeling after hearing that). Parts where a two week order so I brought the vehicle back for a second time. They did the replacement and the hesitation was still there (after three days in the shop). I am bringing it back again on Tuesday. I only live about 15 minutes from the Oakville plant so they are sending in a group of engineers from the plant to look at it. Got this sneaking suspicion my vehicle is becoming the test subject for a lot of these problems. I will keep everyone posted as to the findings. Hopefully they find the problem and it will solve alot of the issues I am seeing on line. Wish me luck......
  5. I have the entire set for my 07 Edge (front/ rear pan liners and rear cargo mat). Again, they are not the most beautiful but they cover 90% of the carpeted area in the front and all in the rear and cargo area. The only disappointment is the colour. I have the camel interior and the tan weather techs are darker than compared to the interior, more than I would have liked. It took some getting used to but I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
  6. This slipping is not normal. Took mine in for the same problem and they are waiting for an answer from Ford for a fix. It will get worse the longer you go and will begin to happen every time you drive. I have an appointment with the service manager next week. Hopefully he has some answers. I will keep you posted
  7. Does anybody know if there is a simple way to change the power state for the accessory plugs. I have a portable GPS permanently mounted but won't power down when the car turns off. This is because the accessory plugs remain on without the key. My father-in-law has a Ford 150 King Ranch and his plugs do power down when the ignition is turned off. Any ideas.....
  8. Has anyone had problems cleaning the black exterior plastic trim on the bottom of the Edge doors. I have tried powerwashing and hand washing and it still holds the dirt. Anybody got any suggestions. I am going to try to Armour All it to see if that gets it out
  9. I will keep you posted. The colour is actually the Blazing Copper (not the best picture), but I have also found it on a Black one in the dealers showroom. Dosen't sound like it is colour dependent.
  10. Same here, got screwed on the door seams, but those 10 cent door pull pads make the entire vehicle. Not sure what I would do without them....
  11. You are right, mine is the same (painted and protected) but I have been down this road before with Ford and rust. The coverage is perforation by rust only, not surface. The Ford body shop is suggesting a seam sealer and then painting over the sealer. Seems harmless enough but I will investigate it further. Thanks
  12. Thanks...for a while there I was thinking this forum was a waster of time. It is nice to see there are people on here that are generally concerned about the important things....like their vehicle
  13. Wow, struck a nerve there........must be wage role....you have a good day now........and hey...thanks for ruining a good thing.
  14. Because I wanted to hear the response of someone from Ford (preferably from a fellow engineer). I didn't think that was a problem.
