  1. Drained and topped off the fluid yesterday. It was as simple as I assumed it would be, although, trying to track down Mercon V in my town is like pulling teeth. That aside, the job was successful. My shifting has smoothed out, and it even feels a little lighter on the pedal. Question though: The fluid was pretty dirty, but I had almost no shavings on the drain plug when I pulled it. Should I be worried that maybe my filter is gathering everything and may be clogged?
  2. If you have a hitch you most likely have a tow package, whether factory or not. You may want to peek under there and double check to make sure its mounted correctly to the frame. If its a 2" receiver then its definitely after-production. Tow capacity is 3000lbs, and I've towed with my 07 Edge several times. It handles just fine. Good luck.
  3. I've used Grease Lightning with a horsehair soft bristle brush to wash wash off my trim. It works great, then to seal and protect it I use Black Again. It's a must. Good Luck!
  4. I've been doing auto detailing semi-professionally for years, and I have found that there is nothing that compares to the warmth and shine as canauba, but it only lasts for six to eight weeks. I've found that applying a coat of carbauba, THEN applying your synthetic polish or seal with give you the shine you get from carnauba, and the last protection from a synthetic polish. Remember to clay the car first, then wash to remove any clay residue, then apply your wax and polish. If you have a darker color, you may need to have it buffed professionally to remove any swirls or light scratches before starting the process. I do this to my wife's 07 Edge every six months or so, and the black paint is as new as the day we bought it. Good luck!
  5. Thanks to both of you. I'll let you know how it goes.
  6. Hey all, From everything i'm reading, my transmission is a sealed unit. Does this prevent me from (easily) being able to drain and refill my ATF? I'm only at 51k on my 2007 Edge SEL Plus AWD, but i'm starting to feel a bit of hesitation in the shifting. I'm assuming new fluid will solve it, seeing as I've done that on several other vehicles and it solves any funny shifting. Any thoughts, experiences, or advice I should know about?
  7. Hey everyone. I am new to forum as of yesterday, although I've browsed as a guest several times. I have a '07 Edge SEL Plus AWD, Black on Tan. I love it, although now when I see the '11 with the new front end and interior, I'm having thoughts of going for a new model. Yesterday I towed my first load over 1000lbs, my Edge handled it great. No loss in power, no steering pull, I couldn't even tell I had a heavy load ('heavy' being a relative term, is was probably between 2800 and 3000 lbs). My wife didn't share my enthusiasm for the Edge's performance..... Love my Edge, love the forum so far. Thanks for the great information.
