  1. Radioshack. All you need to do is use your existing iPod cable and 2.5mm phono to phono plug.

I tried just plugging my IPOD in with the existing USB cable. It was recognized and the songs all loaded in. I can listen and play and control it from the stereo. The only thing that doesn't seem to work is Playlists. I only have one, but it does not show up. Will adding the phono to phono plug help that? The only other thing is the IPOD always says "Do Not Disconnect" like it is trying to sync up. I will try a phono to phono plug to see what that does.

  2. I have a 4th generation IPOD with click wheel and the syncmyride website indicates that I need a USB+AUX cable to connect the unit and have it function properly. The have a link to keyspan.com for model UC25. Is there any other manufacturers that make a compatible cable Belkin, Monster, Apple? I am hoping to be able to go purchase one as opposed to ordering one online.

Any information that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.

  3. I have been looking at the 08 MKX, and have seen the rubber inserts for the cupholders in the center console in a bag, but have not seen the rubber inserts for the doors? I know sometimes they are in the glove compartment, but haven't seen them there either. Can someone verify that the MKX should also have the door inserts?

Anyone have any idea on this? Going to be pickingup my MKX tomorrow and want to make sure they are there if they should be.

  4. Hi Clayton. :D The machined aluminum are 1 piece. They have more of a matte or satin look to them, as opposed to the "mirror look" of chrome or chrome clad.

However, as an FYI: The chrome clad aluminum wheels are are not "steel wheels with the Chrome Clad hubcap". They are aluminum wheels with a chrome clad facade or cap. In addition, I would not exactly call it a "hubcap", as it is not removable.

To my knowledge, the machined wheels have a protective clearcoat finish on them (similar to the paint finish of a car). So essentially, you will treat them as you would your paint finish. Wash with car soap and water to clean. Periodically apply a coat of wax and buff them (same wax you use for your paint finish).

Do not use chemical wheel cleaners. There is no need for them, and they will damage the finish over the long term.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Sorry about the mix up with steel, I meant to say aluminum. I also know that they are not a hubcap and can't be removed, just not sure how to refer to them. I am in no way downplaying the 20" wheels. I like them both on the MKX. I also looked at the Edge and liked the 20" wheels better than the 18's. On the MKX I like both the 18" and 20" designs, it makes deciding very difficult. I know the 18" wheels are "Chrome Clad" on the Edge but was not sure if that was the case on the MKX.

I have seen quite a few posts about the Chrome Clad and some of the problems that they are having. It seems like it might be more 07's and early 08's that are having these problems. Also seem to be more Edge owners talking about it. Not sure how it is effecting the MKX's?

I guess I will need to take a good look at both of them once again before I make my decision.

  5. Looking at the Lincoln MKX and trying to decide between the 18" and 20" wheels. I noticed that the 18" wheels are listed in the brochure and on the sticker as "Machined Aluminum" which makes me think they are all one piece. As opposed to the 20" Chrome Clad Aluminum which I know are steel wheels with the Chrome Clad hubcap.

Can someone that is familiar with these 18" wheels verify that they are one piece? Anyone have them that can describe their experiences with them? How are they lasting, upkeep, cleaning, etc. There has been a lot of talk about the 20's but have not seen much on these.

  6. I have averaged about 15,000 a year on my current car. Now I do expect that to be less on this car due to less commute miles, but will be at least 12,000 a year. That is one of the reasons I am leaning to the MKX over the Edge, better warranty. Bumper to bumper 4yr/50K, Powertrain 6yr/70K. I tend to keep my vehicles for a while, just started my 8th year on current SUV.

I am not as really concerned that it has 400 miles on it as far as the warranty is concerned that is a tiny amount. My bigger concern is that they are test drive miles and you never know what those are like. Now being that it's a Lincoln MKX and not a Ford SVT Mustang, my bet is that they are pretty tame.

I am looking at one from a dealer about 10 miles away that will have about 400 miles on it when delivered. It has 240 on it and will need to be driven from another lot which is about 150 miles away. There is a similar model on another dealers lot about 19 miles away, that only has 21 miles on it. The down side is that dealer is further away to take it in for service and washing.

  7. Does existing mileage on a new car count against the warranty mileage allowance or does the amount get applied to the end of the warranty?

Example: If I buy a new car with 400 miles on it, does that become the starting mileage and my warranty is added on to that? I get 3yr/36,400 miles or or does it stay the same 3yr/36,000 regardless of what is on there?

  8. I purchased my used (6K mi) 07 MKX (FWD) in December 07 from a reputable Ford dealership. They had replaced the tires (why didn't I ask why???????????). I've put 9K miles on this car (mostly highway miles), and the front tires are worn to the wear bars. The back ones are fine (although I've had 1 hole in each of the rear tires repaired - LOVE the pressure sensors!!). I had planned to rotate at 10K. It drives like a dream to me, no vibration or shimmy whatsoever. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Just curious, what wheels do you have 18" or 20"? Also what tires do you have?

  9. Hi all. :D I realize this post is about a month a half old now, but figure the information may help someone. While researching a while back to purchase a Windshield Heat Shield for my MKZ, I came across this site: Car Cover-Depot.com LINK: Windshield Heat Shields.

It is one of the recommended online Retail sites to purchase products made by Covercraft, a maker of high quality car products (Car Covers, Heat Shields, etc).

Their prices are good, especially when you take the fact that they do not charge shipping into consideration. I compared pricing at all of the Covercraft recommended retailers before purchasing.

Covercraft makes both a Fold-up "Heat Shield" model (more heavy duty), and a roll up "Sun Shield" model.

I purchased the fold up "Heat Shield" model. It is a custom fit. Not even an extra inch between the Heat Shield and the sides or top of the windshield. I also purchased the custom storage bag for it.

I highly recommend the Heat Shield and CarCover-Depot.

    Good luck! :beerchug:

Any chance on getting some pictures of your "Heat Shield"? Like to see outside looking in and also from the inside.

  10. No. One or the other, but not both.

Check your loan sources for rates before you go into the dealership (Credit Union, Bank, etc.)

Also consider Red Carpet Lease. Often Ford Motor Credit has special rates on a lease.

What is meant then by "Standalone"? Seems like that would imply that they are seperate?

  11. I am looking at a MKX and had a question regarding offers listed on the Lincoln web page. I go to the Special Offers section and choose 2008 MKX and enter my zip code. It then comes up and shows two offers, see below. It appears that they are seperate and not tied together. Its not listed as $2000 cash back OR 1.9% financing for 60 months like I usually see. Can I take advantage of both of these and get the $2000 back and the 1.9% financing?

    Available Cash Back Incentives

    Retail Customer Cash

    Standalone Cash Offers

    $2000

    Valid from 2008-04-01 to 2008-06-02

  12. I am looking to purchase a MKX from a local dealer here in Austin. The dealer owns two lots on here and one in Houston that sell Lincolns. They one with the features that I want is on their other lot. If I buy the vehicle and they bring here to Austin, is it typical for them to drive it or to tow it up on a flat bed tow truck? The reason I ask is that it will put about 150 miles on the vehicle. I just wasn't sure what was normal for a dealership to do.

  13. Just noticed the other night when I was looking at the MKX for the first time that they all have black rear spoilers? I found this interesting since I had been looking at the Edge mostly and know that the SE model comes with a black rear spoiler no matter what color you buy. The SEL and Limited both list the rear spoiler as color matching. So when I went to the Lincoln dealer the other night, I was looking at the MKX's and noticed the rear spoiler was black. Since they make it sound like a big added feature on the Edge why does Lincoln make them all black? On a side note, I have noticed that all the new Lexus RX350's have black ones as well. I just thought it was strange. Anyone have any insight on why it is that way?

  14. I have been focusing on the Edge Limited in my search and with new incentives from Lincoln am also now looking at the MKX. When I went to test drive one the other night I was surprised to see that the Light Camel interior has a dark brown floor carpet and matching mats. The one issue I have with the Camel interior on the Edge was that I know from experience that the lighter carpets and mats show the dirt much more easily. So seeing the darker brown in the MKX was a very pleasent surprise. I also thought it gave it a little richer feel.

When I got home I went to the Lincoln accessories page to see if they had anything different. They appear to have the same cargo mat that only comes in black, but says MKX instead of Edge. Has anyone ordered this, is it the same material as the Edge one? I know some have complained that it is not very thick. Has anyone ordered the WeatherTech one? Did you get black or tan? How did it look and match the MKX interior? Anyone have pictures of them in their MKX to show?

I also looked at the premium carpeted floor mats for the MKX and was surprised that they came in Black, Camel and Stone, but no dark brown to match the MKX's interior. Is that correct? Has anyone ordered the premium mats, what color and how did they look?

  15. Hi JC. :D Incentives are categorized by Ford according to the purchasers ZIP Code and can/do vary widely by region. In other words, the Incentives on an Edge where I live will likely be quite different than they are where you live.

If you post your ZIP here, we can check the current Incentive programs for you.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Can you check for me on both the 2008 Edge and 2008 MKX? I am looking at both and will be making a decision this week. I live in Austin, TX and my zip is 78732.

When I go to the Ford web page and enter my zip and see the incentives it only shows $2000 customer cash for me. I got yesterdays paper and two Ford dealers, both in Austin but with different zip codes, listed Edge SE's in their ads and both referenced $1000 more off than their sale price for a Competitive Rebate.

When I go to Lincoln and check their site with my zip it shows $2000 customer cash and $1000 Competitve. So with the $3000 off I have also been looking at the MKX. I went in Friday night and got a quote from my local dealer on exactly what I wanted, MKX with 20" wheels, Elite Package, Ultimate Package and tow package. With X-Plan and rebates it lowered the price $5720 off MSRP, which made me very happy. In yesterdays paper, the other Lincoln dealer in town, who is also a Ford dealer, listed a base model MKX on sale, but also referenced $5300 off EVERY MKX on their lot. This is something that dealer does often on both Lincolns and Fords. When I thought I was ready to buy a few months back I checked it out and they seemed on the up and up, straight forward, no hidden charges, etc. So this makes me fell like maybe I am missing something rebate or incentive wise. In my opinon a price that is posted in an ad in the paper is usually not the best price available and that there is still some wiggle room. If one dealer is willing to give everyone that price that walks in off the street and the X-Plan and incentives is only $420 less, that seems a little too close.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

  16. I thought there was a FAQ either on here or www.blueovalforums.com that listed all the guidelines for purchasing through X-plan. What the discount off invoice was, what could be charged for delivery, etc. I have looked and searched on both sites and am either not using the correct search words or just missing it. Can someone direct me to it or where I can obtain it. I just want to make sure I am not forgetting anything or expecting something that I should not be.

  17. I am finally in the position to purchase my new Edge and am just looking to see if I can obtain a X-Plan Pin number to assist in the purchase. I posted a new topic in the X-Plan Pin request section of the Employee forum over on Blue Oval Forums on 04/05/08. Here is the link:

I have not gotten any responses as of yet, but I am waiting and hopeful that I will hear something soon. I just wanted to get another feeler out there in hopes that someone will see it and be able to help me out or direct me to someone that can.

Thanks for any assistance in advance
