One more piece of information: when I back up and the squealing starts I slightly hit the parking brake until I feel some breaking but the squealing doesn't change. So, seems the parking brake is not the cause, right?

Didn't take photos cause everything looked normal to me.

No separate pads, just the same c-shaped thingies as in the video.

I don't know what exactly is squealing, hence my posting this in the first place.

OK guys, current status: I checked the parking brake pads and the piston movements. The pads look almost like new, no difference in thickness to new ones. The pistons in the calipers move nicely, everything seems to be in ship-shape. So I closed everything again. The squeal is still there, louder than ever!

Guys, I've just removed the rear disc/drum to replace the parking brake shoes but I don't have the foggiest idea how. I've searched the internet but can't find a youtube which explains the details. Can't figure out how that C-shaped one-piece is attached to the back plate. Can someone point me to a video that shows that?

I think you're right, I'll have to open everything up.

No, the rotors and anything inside the parking brake drums were never removed.

I'll have to check what's going inside those drums.

But is it at all necessary to replace the parking brake shoes?

They can't be worn thin from parking, right?

Those pistons, there's no brake fluid involved, right?

I don't understand what the thickness of the discs has to do with the parking brakes.

No e brake, just old-fashioned wires!

Guys, just replaced my rear brake pads on my 2009 Edge. Everything works fine except when I back up the left rear wheel squeals awfully. I jacked both rear wheels up and checked the parking brake. Seems to work fine, relaxed or fully engaged. However, when the parking brake is only about half engaged, I can turn the right wheel forward and backward with some drag. The left wheel can only be rotated forward with some drag but not at all backwards. Time to replace the parking brake hardware?

Guys, I need to fix a minor dent (about 3" long and 1" wide on my 2009 Edge. What kind of spackling should I use. There are so many out there, it's hard to decide which one to use.

Guys, just replaced the front pads on my 2009 Edge. The old pads showed a significant difference in remaining thickness. The left pads were, at least, a quarter inch thinner than the right ones, almost down to the metal. Do I need to replace the calipers?

No, I did not use the resistors. The seller sent me a short video how to remove the front end and how to connect the 2 headlight connectors to the car harness. Not a beep about the resistors. I reconnected everything as I saw fit and now it works. Thanks again y'all for your advice and patience. 

Yes, it did work before with the original Ford headlights.

I did not change the wiring for the high beam at all, just connected it to the car wiring.

I was too fast with my praise. The wife drives very seldom in the dark so I just found out that there seems to be a problem with the high beam. I can turn it on but it doesn't turn off. Only when I turn off the lights completely and back on, the high beam is off. Next time I use it stays on again. Can someone explain what is going on here?

Guys, there are 2 connectors for the low and high beam. Can someone tell mw which is which? I'm trying to connect the new headlights and I'm getting conflicting explanations from the vendor. They can't even tell me what all the loose wires are good for. I may have to install the old headlights just to get the car going on short notice. It's all pretty frustrating.

Guys, thanks for the input. Since I'm currently not replacing the turn signal bulbs I won't be needing the resistors at all, right?
