A dent would be nice, alas, it's a little more than that. I think 1004ron is correct, quite a bit of body work involved, I'm not sure I can pull that off, I'm 80! Need all the help I can get. 😨

Hi Guys, the wife had an unfortunate encounter with a huge pile of big rocks, protecting a mail box. Had to replace 2 tires, 4 rims and the passenger side mirror. The only thing left to fix is a 4" gash in the right rear door, close to the wheel well. (Edge 2009). See pic. I went to a local body shop and they quoted me, after a lot of hem and haw, around $800 +. The + is for "unforeseen difficulties" and I have livid imaginations how that will end. Since I'm already out around 2 Grand, I'm somewhat hesitant to spring for another $800 + and I'd like to try to fix this myself. It looks like there had been a repair before in the same spot, the gray stuff in that gash looks suspiciously like Bondo. Can someone point me to a link that describes in some detail how to tackle this problem? I've never done any body repair before and I'm aware that the end product will not look professional but, hopefully, a bit better than it looks now. The black sprinkles are just from our freshly tarred country road, need to be removed. Btw, the pile of rocks she hit still looks pristine.

Hi Guys, I have a 2009 LTD with about 125k miles, that makes noises lately. The wife says after driving for about half an hour the car gets louder as if the exhaust system was leaking somewhere. So I crawled under to check things. All the rubber hangers look god and are intact. I noticed that small muffler just behind the cat. It is connected to the rear part of the exhaust system with a large clamp and the pipes are stuck one inside another. What's weird is that the smaller pipe is slightly clean for about 1/2" as if those 2 pipes are kind of loose and slip back and forth. Is it possible that, after the exhaust system is sufficiently hot, the 2 pipes get loose and a small exhaust leak develops? Is this a known issue or am I imaginating things?

Well, I have used a Kärcher since the late 90s and it lasted about 20 years, so no gas powered pressure washer for me.

Guys, I have a, probably, silly question: I'm planning to buy a power washer. Never used one on a car and I am wondering if prolonged usage has any negative effect on the exterior (rubber, paint, clear coat, etc.)? I'd appreciate any input pro or contra.

There is no box behind the rear view mirror, the compass must be inside the mirror.

The mirror? Isn't there a separate compass plug-in or so?

Hi, the compass in my 2009 Edge has shown only the "N" for several months now. I tried to calibrate it but I can't even set the magnetic zone, it just doesn't show that setting. Does that mean to compass module is broken? If yes, is there any test to make sure? Thanks, Ed

Hi, lately something strange happens with my 2009 Edge AC. As long as a drive staight, the Ac blows fine. When I make a left or right turn the cold air flow stops for about 5 to 10 seconds and as soon as I go straight it blows cold again. What in the world is going on here?

Hi, my 2009 Edge shows the message "Driver Door ajar" and the small red icon in the left of the dash. Of course, the driver door is NOT ajar. Where do I start looking? Thanks.

Haz, thanks for the detailed response. I had ordered the manuals, they are on the way. It appears that the seal is only deteriorating at the front, so just replacing the front part might be possible. Hope that will work.

enigma-2 Thanks for the detailed info. Actually, I'm talking about the rubber seal between the front and the rear glass. I'm not sure which it is on that diagram. And no, that rejuvenator likely won't work, there are large pieces of rubber that can be pulled off.

Perhaps some people have been thrown off by my erroneously calling the sunroof the wrong name (skylights), my bad, sorry. I found a diagram of all the pieces that go into the sunroof but there are so many that I am sort of confused which ones I need to order. I'll attach that image, maybe someone can point me into the right direction? Thanks a lot. Ed

Hi, I'm just doing some spring cleaning/detailing on my 2009 Edge LTD and I noticed that the gasket(s) around and between the 2 skylights seems to be disintegrating. Are those 2 separate gaskets or is it one gasket for both? Is there a post somewhere that would describe where to order and how to replace those gaskets? I need to replace them before the Texas Spring storms pop up but have never done it before but and I've no idea how to go at it. Can anyone post some advice/ideas? Thanks, Ed

Well, the problem has been solved a while ago by installing new struts. However, those new struts started another annoyance, when the liftgate goes down it rattles to the point that the entire car shakes.
