  1. Flashing is an ignition misfire issue. Plugs suspected as you might be driving it in city mostly and the hours on the plugs are far and above 100K. Check codes for miss fires and if it is a steady miss then it may be a coil. Seems coils fail in #2 and #3 with #5 also popping up as a failure. Why I do not know. 2 and 3 because of heat most likely.

Verify both coils and plugs but at least change the plugs. Verify the front as good then if good before changing the plugs move them to the bank one and the bank one coils move to the bank two position. Easier to change if the #2 and #3 are failing.

I may recommend changing all of your fluids also if this has not been done. Especially the coolant.

Forgot to ask cylinder number should be as followed:

    1 2 3

    4 5 6

with the 123 closest to firewall is that correct? and 1 & 4 facing towards drive belt?

  2. Thx for the reply. Today for the first time the CEL began flashing again and stayed on for the whole road trip. Ran the scanner just now at home and threw P0303 which means a misfire on #3. I'll give the plugs a change and give the coil packs a change.

  3. Recently on our '11 Edge Sport (93K miles) under WOT it begins to buck and CEL light blinks a few seconds. AC compressor comes off (can notice air from vents get warmer) while all this is going on. After a few seconds (10-20) CEL stops blinking doesnt shown on dash anymore and AC pops back on. Its a pain the butt on a highway when passing vehicles. Any suggestions? Nothing really has been done to it other than regular maintenance. Plugs? TB needs cleaning? Coil pack? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  4. My wife called me today to tell me that the brakes started hissing inside the vehicle. She got home and sure enough, they hiss and feel spongy. If I hold the brake pedal down it gets harder and slowly goes all the way down. Brake booster? I have not changed nor messed with brakes, pads etc at all. Going on 60k miles and out of warranty. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow morning, hopefully get something resolved.

  5. Modern Ford vehicles will not disable the alarms unless the remote unlock button is pressed or a correct programmed key is used to turn on the ignition.

So even he unlocks your door with a correct cut key, the alarm will still off in about 12 seconds unless they use the remote unlock button or turn on the ignition using a correct programmed key.

I understand but here's the kicker, I have no alarm! lol

  6. My father just purchased a 2014 Explorer and had a ford alarm installed at the dealership. I was visiting him and messing with the alarm. I armed his explorer's alarm and with my edge's key tried to unlock the explorer via key hole (to mimic someone trying a key/stealing the vehicle). Well guess what, my edge's key opened my fathers explorer! It gets crazier. I locked my edge via my fob and...yup, my fathers explorer key opened it via the outer keyhole. Wtf! How is this possible! Even his spare key opened my edge.

  7. 2. Pull fuse - which box is that in and what exactly does it look like?

Fuse #29; fuse box next to your left leg driver side kick panel area

    3. Pull power to fuse box instead of pulling fuse - anyone had luck with this? Seems like the least PIA process, but want to make sure that doesn''t screw up other things.

Same fuse box as previously mentioned. Pull power connector from the box

There is a youtube video of someone doing it on the Edge

  8. Quick update. I entered the vehicle , shut the door, gave it a couple of seconds for the lights and everything to shutdown. I pressed the lock button on the fob and heard a faint click sound coming from instrument panel/steering wheel area. 15-20 seconds later another slight sound is heard. I press unlock button and same thing happens. Press panic button and same. Something knows im pressing the fob buttons but doesnt trigger the actual lock/unlock/panic features at all.

  9. Vehicle: 2011 Edge Sport non IA equipped.

From one day to the next both FOBs are unoperable. Remote start works fine, lock/unlock switches work, exterior keypad works, batteries on FOBs are good. Keys start the vehicle up. I tried reprogramming the fobs themselves but they are not being recognized when programming mode is entered. Im thinking its the actual RKE receiver that went dead. Last thing I'd want is to take it in to the dealer and wait all day for a quick job. Any ideas where the receiver is located or what i should try next? Thanks in advance.

  10. Our edge (about to hit 25k) started doing this a couple of months ago. A musky smell upon start up then goes away after a couple of seconds after the A/C turns on. Ive tried turning off the A/C and running the fan only a minute/two before reaching a destination and turning the system completely off everytime we exit the car. Ive sprayed A/C cleaning solution in the blower, cowl & vents. This helps for a day or two then back at it. Ive replaced the cabin air filter and air filter. Nothing seems to work. Havent taken it to the dealer due to lack of time. It is an annoyance.
