  1. I had not even heard of MFT when we started looking at the Edge. We have had ours 13 months now with zero problems. MFT has been annoying a couple of times but nothing that I would down rate the car over.

Because the car hasn't been driven much, and mostly in town, I took the car to the shop that I have been doing business with for several years to have the oil and filter changes at about 3,000 miles. Early, I know. Last month I took it to the Ford dealer where we purchased it because they had a special on where I could get more than the oil and filter changed for $30.00. Had the tires rotated for no additional cost. That is the only time the car has been back to the dealer since we bought it. This time the car had a little over 5,000 miles. Overkill on the service. Will be going back at 5,000 mile intervals from now on.

  2. cb: I wasn't posting to be confrontational or disagreeable as I am in the same boat as those who have the issue.

However, I find it VERY wierd that whenever the wife or I open the glove compartment, the air conditioning seems to blow better. It is as if the glove compartment is acting like an intake which allows more air to get pulled in. None of the other cars I have owned in the past have done this. I have brought it to the dealer's attention and they are perplexed as well. I am bringing it in this Saturday to have this and a few other things looked at.

Have you had a chance to test the glove box theory yet?

The cabin air filter is on the firewall behind the glove box. Opening the glove box allows more air flow. There are threads on this forum about dirty cabin air filters blocking the airflow so that the A/C wouldnt work right.

  3. My 1990 Sable did the same thing. I learned how to drive so it wouldn't do it. Kept it until 2004 and traded it in on a 2004 Mercury minivan.

Having said that, it appears that the problem won't be "fixed" by changing driving habits. I will keep the seat of my pants alert in case if happens to me so I can demonstrate it to Ford if needs be.

  4. I have 2012 V6 Edge and bought it for the sticker gas mileage 18/25. We are easy on pedal and do half highway half town, our average showing on dashboard is 17!!

We should all file a lawsuit at small claim courts against Ford for misleading us. Look what happen to Honda - they lost it and paid $10K

I was suprised at the outcom of the case.

Isn't there a disclaimer on all window stickers that basically say that your mileage may vary? Options, driving habits and condition of vehicle all effect fuel economy. Terrain also plays a part.

My brother lives near the gulf coast in south Texas. He gets the same fuel economy in his old heavy Chevy Caprice as he does in his minivan when on the highway because there aren't any hills to climb.

  5. The lens is near the release button in the liftgate. Oops. By bad. The lens is above the license plate.

With the motor running and the transmission in reverse look at the left 4 inch screen. See if there is a notice saying that the back up is off. If it does show up scroll with the left buttons to the "on" dot and press OK. Hope this helps.

  6. After waiting an 50 minutes and still no progress I called the Tech Team. The analyst I spoke with said they had a few reports of this happening. He had me back out of the update, and then perform a Master Reset. After chatting with the analyst, I am wondering if maybe a hidden file on my usb stick could be causing the issue. I am trying to go from 2.8 to 2.11. I did try the update a second time with the exact results: stopping at file 6 of 9. Anyway, I have several other thumb drives so I will grab some coffee and give it another shot this morning.

    Cheers!

My update was stuck on 6 of 9 for a long time. However, the light on the thumb drive was flashing for most of this time, so I guessed that it was a big file. When the light quit flashing I got a little worried, but it eventually finished all 9 files. About 45 minutes for me.

  7. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had this issue.. I currently own a 2011 Ford Edge SEL. I noticed that there was water coming thru the rug and mat on the drivers side floor. I brought the Edge in to be looked at by a water specialists at the dealer, they determined that the weather stripping around the door had to be replace, however that did not work. I am still getting water on the floor. Please respond if anyone out here has had the same issue, or could possibly know what is wrong!!

    Frustrated Edge Owner!!

I had a 2000 Impala that had water in the passenger side. Had to take in in three times before they got it fixed permanently. In my case debris was falling into the condensate drain hole an plugging it up. It was enough of a problem that GM issued a TSB. I don't think that this is your problem, but it is at lease worth asking about.

  8. I am also glad I saw her. She was pretty shaken up since she truly almost drove right through the salon. Since the damage isn't too bad (scratched paint along the bend of the front bumper and a bowed fender panel, minor scratch to the headlight and a small scratch to the lower bumper) I am hoping they can form the fender back without having to replace it and repaint and refinish that side into my driver door. 2010 model in the Texas heat could show differences in fade in no time. I was just impressed with my composure considering my added post of what things people to to irritate you on the other thread. LOL I have done very well so far. Think I need a new salon. People in that area have crashed into the donut shop and the blockbuster within the last 6 months. Yikes. Going to try a shop across town maybe??? LOL

If done right I don't think you need to worry about paint fade. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Our 2004 van was side swiped January 26, 2004, the first month that we owned it. The paint on that side is fine. The other side was sideswiped a couple of years after that and it also looks show room new. Have the work done where they give a guarantee for as long as you own the car. It may cost more but it is worth it.

Red seems to attract bad drivers.

  9. I have reported the successful install several times but I cannot get confirmation. Some of the files are confirmed install on the Snycmyride but some are not. I downloaded the status checker but when I put the thumbdrive in the car, the screen never indicated that and install was in progress although the light on the drive would flash slowley. I have sent an email to Ford about my problem.

I emailed them before with a question and they were quick to respond.

Glad to know that you can drive during the update. Idling for 45 minutes knocks heck out of the MPG.

The touchscreen does seem to be more responsive now.

Got a reply from Ford the same day I posted my situation. They said that their data base shows V2.11 loaded on my car and to disregard the comfirmation error. :yahoo:

  11. I have a 2011 Edge Limited which I tow behind my motor home using a Master Tow 80TSB-14 Tow Dolly. The dolly instructions say to lock the steering wheel - the wheel wells on the dolly can pivot for turning corners. Since I have keyless ignition the only way to lock the steering wheel is to use the seat belt. On my last trip when I went to remove the seat belt I found the leather steering wheel wrap had deformed and pulled out from under the top trim. I was able to loosen the top trim and get the leather wrap back in place. Is there a better way to secure the steering wheel other than using the seat belt?

Have you asked this question on the forum for rvers? www.rv.net

They have a section on dingy towing.

  12. Our first phone was a big wooden thing mounted on the wall with two big batteries supplying the power. You took the ear piece off of the hook and turned the crank. If you were calling on your party line you would crank like two longs and a short or whater ever. No matter what you cranked, the operater would come on and ask for the NAME of the person you were calling. In 1953 we moved to another state and did not get another phone until about 1957. You would dial the first two letters of a name. All of the phones in our town were on the same name so we only had to dial 5 numbers.

We got our first TV in 1953. No changing channels because there was only one. It came on at 2:30 in the afternoon and went off at midnight. Eventually we got cable and could get four or five channels. No VCRs to record for later viewing.

  13. No, i wasnt looking up information or going with a brighter bulb because i put tint on my headlights and taillights. And actually with the lights on you cannot tell that the lights are tinted because it isnt that dark. Gotta love how people are so quick to bust your balls when you dont know as much as the next guy. Know it all's so quick to criticize instead of lending their knowledge. Thanks for the comments.

Yesterday afternoon just after 4 pm I was behind a pickup truck that had tinted tail lights. I could barely see his brake lignts or turn signals. A potentially dangerous situation.
