  1. Would you mind posting a picture of the broken part, if you still have it? I've found something that looks like part of some sort of plastic rail assembly on the floor of the car one day. Everything seems to work fine on the sunroof, glove compartment, etc. -- all the places where I guessed that part might have fallen off of. I am still not certain that the part came from someplace other than the car itself.
  2. I still have the Edge. The Fusion was a replacement for a Honda CR-V. It's very apparent that the two Ford models share the same platform. The driving characteristics are similar.
  3. UPDATE: Sometime after posting this, I discovered that one of my rims was slightly deformed, which probably amplified the little bit of torque steer on take off. Once replaced, the torque steer effect diminished, but it did not completely go away. I have purchased a 2014 Fusion Titanium, that is also AWD, and it exhibits similar symptoms. There's a tad of a nudge to the right - the outer part of the steering wheel might move a half of an inch to an inch towards the right when taking off (with the hands off the wheel), and then it settles dead center once the AWD system kicks in.
  4. Thanks for your reply. On my previous two Ford purchases the dealer pulled an X plan pin for me, based on the previous ownership of the company I work at (used to be Apple). Never mind that I started working there a year after another company acquired the firm. The dealer I'm working with now asked specifically if I can produce a pin. I am aware that I could haggle my way to below the X-plan price, but I find it to be a pretty fair deal after some additional discounts they've mixed in, when comparing it to reports on edmunds.com, etc. The Fusion I am getting is pretty rare due the combination of features, so they had to intercept a delivery going to another dealership, and I'm still waiting on delivery after three weeks. That takes a little bit of leverage away. I would love to get A plan pricing though.
  5. Hello, I'm looking to buy a Ford Fusion in the very near term. It will be a nice addition to my 2009 Edge Limited. Does anyone here have an X plan pin they could share? I purchased my Edge using the X Plan and I loved the "straight up" nature of the deal. Cheers, Gabor
  6. Hello Tariq, That's about the best diagnosis I've heard of this issue so far. I've had my PTU seal replaced twice and it did not make a difference. The last time I discussed this with a technician he suspected that exhaust gases are entering the cabin, but I have not had the time to follow up on it yet. Sorry to hear that they did not have a fix for you, but as you know, you're not alone. Are there any other details you could share with us about this issue? Each time I try to address this problem with the dealer, I first have to take their focus off the PTU issue. It'd be helpful to reference another case, like yours. Sounds like in Dubai they are bit more forthcoming about the real problem.
  7. Mike, do you smell the exhaust while you're accelerating? Or does it become apparent when you come to a stop (with the vents pumping in fresh air)? I've been suspecting that the issue does have to do with hard acceleration. When I tried to reproduce the issue with the service tech in the car I did not gun it as I usually do after getting past the congested part of my daily commute. I'm pretty sure the dealer took it easy too, when they tried to reproduce the issue.
  8. I've had my PTU replaced twice and I still have the smell issue. It did seem to go away for a little while after the fix. In my case, I have a hard time reproducing the issue at the dealer. It seems to really happen after having driven about 40 minutes on the freeway (commuting to and fro work), then the smell hits when I come to a stop. I think I'll drive to work and back just to reproduce the issue, for next time I ask the dealer to look at this.
  9. I'd love to hear about this, too. The navi system does not even show the street my house is on, but I find the update price tag hefty.
  10. Thanks for the explanation. I had an alignment done at the dealership and they've also confirmed this being normal. They even took a brand new '12 Edge from the lot for a test spin, to see if the behavior was consistent. It was. They called it an idiosyncrasy of the car.
  11. I notice some torque steering with my AWD, but only on takeoff from standstill. Recently had it aligned and it drives straight otherwise. The pull is very light, almost unnoticeable with the hands on the wheel. If I take my hands off, however, the steering wheel will want to go almost a quarter turn to the right when taking off. Anyone else experiencing this? I understand that AWD is supposed to mitigate torque steer, but I wonder if it does not work as well on takeoffs. Thanks, Gabor
  12. So does my 2009. Just noticed it today.
