  1. With all due respect, severe corrosion on a 3 year old car is unusual. I firmly believe there is an overcharging problem with the car that is causing the battery acid to boil and condense on the battery surface. There was a significant amount of corrosion residue on the engine and fender well around the battery. As I said I have a 98 Explorer that I have owned since it was new and it is cleaner than many cars 1/2 it's age and it has been bulletproof for 13 years. Again, I respect all of your comments but I had to make the decsison to spend my money where I thought best. But I have to say, I still liked that Edge. I would still consider an Edge but i am going to save up to buy new. Have a great day everyone.
  2. Hello everyone. I joined this group because I was just about to buy a 2008 Edge Limited from a dealer. Unfortunately upon opening the hood, I found the battery terminals to be severely corroded and the areas adjacent to the battery to be stained by corrosion as well. The dealer took the car into the shop and said there was nothing wrong. I disagree as that amount of corrosion was very unusual. A subsequent search on the internet revealed that there is a battery problem with the Edge. I backed out of the deal and I am staying with my 98 Explorer for now. I think I made the right decision. Any thoughts?
