  1. Yes, you are correct about the loose covers. I've heard of no real chrome issues with the 18's, just the outer aluminum lip corrosion and pitting on the 18's. I've heard of a small handful of the actual chrome clad itself bubbling on both the 18's and the 20's, no real big numbers though. I've decided to go for the 20's in the nicer weather and run the 18's in the bad weather and have tires mounted on them both, so it's an easy swap when I do swap them.
  2. You see, the 20" wheels have the outer edge covered with Chrome Clad, unlike the 18" Wheels that have a clear coated aluminum edge. I'm trying to find a set of 20's as I think I will have less problems with those. Or I can run the 18's in the winter and put the 20's on in the Spring. Thanks Dom
  3. Thank you, but I'm really looking for 4 of them, with 4 tires, caps and sensors too. I've seen a few sets on Ebay, but they're going for around $1500.00 shipped, and I'm hoping to find some a little cheaper. Thanks Dom
  4. Hello, I'm looking for a set of Factory Edge 20" Chrome Clad wheels and tires, complete with good tires and center caps. I'm located in NE Ohio and will drive within a reasonable distance to pick them up too. Thanks Dom
  5. Well, here it is, 10 Months later and I need another set of wheels. They look horrible. I love my Edge, I really do, but I can't keep doing this wheel thing. My car has 18k on it and is a little over 2 years old. Am I the only one having this kind of problem? I really take care of my car too. I always power wash the salt off during winter months. Here are a few pictures that were taken about a week ago. It's without a doubt a Corrosion issue from rocks hitting them, and then salt getting under the clear coat.. Thanks Dom

Yes, this has happened to me as well. Maybe 3 times a year or so. It does come right back on though. I listen to Sirius 90% of the time.
  7. There is more information and I posted a picture of mine here: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...ic=1957&hl= I wouldn't worry about where you cant see them under the Chrome Clad.
  8. Mike Yes, your correct. It's a corrosion issue, just on the outer edge where the weights go on. I haven't had any problems or concerns with the Chrome Cladding, I guess some have though. I tried the stick on weights, just on the inside when my first set of wheels were replaced. Then I developed a slight vibration at highway speeds. I took it to a buddy of mine that has a tire shop and he put the "Coated Weights" on the inside and on the outside and the vibration was gone after that. I'll live with one ugly weight on the outside, if I don't have to deal with any vibration issues. Thanks Dom
  9. Your very welcome, glad I could help !!! Good Luck Dom
  10. Here's the scoop on the 18" Chrome Clad Wheels. Ford has changed the supplier of the Edge Chrome Clad Wheels. I pulled a sticker off the new replacement wheels, in the Parts Dept here at work, and did some Internet Research. I did find out some good stuff too. Since July/August of 2008 Lacks Enterprises Inc. in Michigan is NOW the supplier to Ford for the Edge Chrome Clad Wheels. I spoke to a real nice guy there this morning, (no names) and found out all the details. I don't want to give out names and phone numbers, and stuff like that, but I can tell you this. They have done extensive testing in hot, cold, high corrosion areas and just about everywhere else too, and they have seen no problems with the new wheels. The new supplier of the new wheels will have a sticker on them that say "Lacks Chromtec" with a part number and date of #150-00180-08/22/2008. There is also a Ford TSB dated 08/2008 that says if there is corrosion problem, to replace them with current Ford Factory Parts. They really don't get into any details in the TSB though. Good Luck Dom
  11. Here is a picture of what the first set of wheels did. The ones now are a darker type of looking corrosion.
  12. There is actually a "Core Charge" on the old wheels. I was going to do the same thing, and was going to buy another set of tires, mount them on the old corroded wheels, and run them in the Winter months here in Ohio. Once I found out how high the Core Charge was to purchase the old wheels, I gave up on that idea. I do have some pictures of the corrosion on the first set of wheels and the second set too, at home on my Desk Top. I will put them up very soon, so you can see what were talking about. The corrosion is on the very outer lip, right where the bead of the tire seals on the rim. It looks like it's getting under the clear coat that protects the aluminum and just spreads and get's worse. The Plastic Chrome Cladding on the middle is hard to keep clean, with brake dust, road grime and winter crud, but that part does survive with a good cleaning and waxing. I did go online with FMC Dealer and I checked for any Updates, TSB's or Bulletins and I didn't find anything on it. Thanks Dom
  13. I have an 08 SEL that I purchased new in Nov 07. Ford replaced my Chrome Clad 18's, for the black pitting under the clear coat, on the outer edge of the wheel in the Spring of 08. I work at a Ford Dealer and they would only replace them with what came on the car when it was new. Well here I am again, 1 year and 3 months old, 13,500 miles, and the replacement wheels are doing the same thing as the original ones did. They need replaced again, this is getting REAL OLD Is there a better replacement, or a new part number for better wheels?
  14. Here is another post and pictures on Edge Mud Flaps :stats: Edge Mud Flaps Good Luck !!
  15. Yup, your correct Lex. BUT, the Crap here in NE Ohio can get really bad, especially in the Winter months. My 08 Edge is my daily driver too. I have way too many toys in storage and I can't add my Edge to the list too. I'm even thinking of getting a set of used wheels and tires, just to run in the Winter. My wheels have already been replaced once, after just one winter. Thanks Dom
  16. Thanks guys. Lex, the ones on the rear really didn't protect things enough back there. The rear tires stick out way farther then what the factory rear flaps can protect, and they're also not low enough to do the job. I actually thought they blended in really well on the rear too. I understand though, and everyone has their own opinions on things, no problem. Dom
  17. I finally got around to taking some pictures of my Ford Edge Flaps today. I also kept finding road crud on my rear bumper and tailgate. I found it was coming from the rear tires and being thrown up. I added the same Flaps to the rear as the ones I added in the front. The front flaps had to be notched out to clear a spot on the inner fender, but the exsisting inner fender bolts were used to mount them with. I also used the same exsisting 3 inner fender bolts to mount the ones on the rear. I've had NO CRUD on my rear bumper and tailgate since I added the rear ones to the car. I just put some White Out on the bolts and held them in place where I wanted them mounted, and then drilled the flaps where the White Out left marks on the flaps. My front ones are mounted down and out further to help protect the body even more. Thanks for looking Dom
  18. Ford replaced my wheels this week. Not sure, but they look just like the old ones. I'm hoping they improved the clear coat process :shades:
  19. Looks GREAT, Congrats :shades: What's the little emblem on the bottom of the front door, towards the front? Dom
  20. We had a decent day here in NE Ohio about a week ago. I decided to wash and wax my 08 Edge. It took me 2 hours to clean and polish "just" the plastic chrome on the 4 wheels and 1 hour to clean and polish the WHOLE Car. I also have the Black and White Corrosion on all 4 of my wheels on the outer edge. I'm not sure exactly what it was that was on the Chrome but it was a real PIA to get off. It looked like corrosion or brake dust. The corrosion the the outer edge will NOT come off. My in service date is Nov 07 and I have 3800 miles on the car. I work at a Ford Dealer and I've contacted my Ford CSM and she made it sound like it won't be a problem to replace the 4 wheels. I took some digital pictures and emailed them to her and I'm just waiting to hear back. I really do like my 08 Edge though. Dom
  21. Goat and Blue, congrats. They really are a "no brainer" to install, just read the instructions and use the installation kit supplied, and your good to go. I was really surprised on how well the Tri Coat White Sand matches too.
  22. Not that I'm aware of, just give them a call :shades: Phone: (800) 899-1516 Offices are open from 8:00AM-5:00PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday If you have a product question, please have the part number, product description, and your vehicle's specifications ready. 23. I've looked everywhere and so far no luck. I have the Ford ones on the front of mine, and they look nice. I didn't install them like the instructions tell you to though. I actually cut a square out of the bottom inside corners of the flaps so that they would clear the inner fender brace that sticks out on the bottom. I brushed some "White Out" on the 2 factory bolts on the inner fender. One holds on the bottom ground effects on, and the other holds in the inner fender itself. I placed the flaps up where I wanted them, had a small box on the bottom to hold them square, and they left 2 white out marks on the flap itself. I drilled the flap where the 2 marks were. I removed the 2 factory inner fender screws, that I put white out on, and bolted them on. I didn't have to drill any holes in the car itself, as I just used the 2 factory installed bolts to hold the flap itself on. They also stick out a little farther on top, and down a little lower to help protect the car better. I will have to get some pics, but it's been so ugly here in NE Ohio, and my car is filthy
