  1. Assumption that the past 5 1/2 years of Ford MFT/MLT and Ford's big MESS UP with the 11 + version deployment with their solution of lets strip it down of a lot a features to get it stable ( they did) then lets keep fixing "quietly" the many "errors" ford introduced when they tried to fix something and another thing went wrong ( and they did) and then move on to the next version (and they did) is still at play here.

Also based on reading an opportunity to upgrade....That doesn't scream free- does it? Maybe it will be but...

"new SYNC Connect technology powered by 4G LTE" ....will owners find value in the pricing?

For us MLT owners at $199 for Sync services we sure DO NOT! Too pricey, service incorporates most of what is available for free on "the information line" ,& customer service agents have not been helpful with directions...do better google yourself...

so we shall see if there is value in new service

  2. On a positive note, ever since updating MFT, the ambient lighting does not reset on it's own. :)

Yippee hooray! As many know from my prior posts this was a bitter subject. The flat out lies and disconnects and BLAMMING APPLE PHONE!!!$ yes they did . Several times!!!!

total waste of time from corporate to the dealer to the regional rep to the field service engineer when ford Corp knew all along it was screwed up and they just quietly pass this fix through but denied it all summer . Oh wait before I get a comment back- I do not hate MFT. . I hate the BS Corp peddled but at least am pleased it is fixed. many other people have noticed and I appreciate that I'm so glad I stuck to my guns to keep posting despite certain peoples minimizing the problem. Apologize to eople if are tired of hearing the tirade as it's been put--- but I'll take a ford apology from the Ford rep who PM me and suggested it was always the phone and the dealer when it was really a software update that they refused to acknowledge and have me driving a rental car and had me disconnect the phone and drive for a month with no phone connected to get to the magical 20 hours reboot that they would not acknowledge---- to prove that it wasn't the phone it was really MFT software all along .

  3.

    You're right. I can only say 99.99%.

Look - at least 2 and probably 3 IT professionals are telling you it's IOS. If you choose not to believe us then so be it.

But then you'd have to explain why it does exactly the same thing in other vehicles.

And as stated prior- my posts were not to say Ford at fault for how it operates..

my point is Ford is not doing anyone any favors by putting a new feature on their expense software release and than have no clue how it works and what the restrictions are ( or not share) and then the end user Tries the new feature on a FORD release and is DISSASTIFIED on how it works. Ford MUST do a better job communicating how their MFT works knowing it will interface with Apple and Android & windows and whatever....

Look -us posters here- are more likely tech savvy and interested in using the feature and run into issues... the other vehicle owners that are not at all and then try to use feature are even further disillusioned.

Then add on top the suspicion that Ford software does have SOME play in any problem- why --cause we have 5 + years of proof- it is hard to separate what is a true phone or phone software issue vs MFT release. In any event- there seems to be a perception of how they all do not play along nicely before it gets to the end user who --bottom line-- sees a feature work or not work- and a consumer expectation on how it should work in the absence of a Ford directive will take it in their own mind on how it should work. Then they test and get bitter on why Ford did not test and share what they found instead of the other way around.

    .

  4. So the fact that Siri says "can't do that while you're in the car" isn't proof enough?

NO -not proof enough to possible draw false conclusion to think all apps will not work cause apple restricts due to playing through auto.

since calling on SIri via steering wheel allows iheart radio streaming but not pandora streaming or apple maps vs google maps.

SO there is more to it than a broad -its through car its restricted- was point of many

My point from way back was - great a new feature- do we fend for our selves on what it can and can not do or would the almighty Ford that released it and charges us all big$$ to have this infoentertaimnent- would they not just release feature but give some feedback on how to use and restrictions.

  5. Is it Ford? Siri? Apple? App itself? combo?

I tested iheart radio and had functionality. I tested Apple maps & had functionality. Lets stop talking in absolutes - that lead to the back & forth...when we ALL need to test report results & see if others can duplicate. (Mod included ..PRIOR ..to facts or opinion or whatever it is - sure does appear to blur the line many times)

  6. I tried saying open I heart radio and then I tried play I heart radio and both worked Also directions to home open up the Apple maps just like prior poster

I agree testing is the correct approach

I'm glad we tested it to find out the truth before posting our opinion and trying to put them out as fact. Sidenote I do not have 29 years IT experience. :)

Pandora and Spotify would not open I got those messages but I heart radio worked

Additional fact I was driving when I press the button on the steering wheel to get that functionality

  7. And which software company produces 100% error free code and is 100% transparent about bugs in their code? NOBODY!

Not saying Ford is right on any of this but your expectations are unrealistic and your constant rants (too many breadcrumbs???) about it for the last 5 years are tiresome.

It is what it is and it's not going to change.

"It is what it is and it's not going to change." "expectations are unrealistic"

OH but is HAS changed over & over! Ford is just not timely and it takes many iterations.

And those realistic expectations and the "rants" have drawn attention & gotten most items resolved ( in time and iterations) and I have ensured i received remuneration in the process for my time investment.

That being said- back on focus... Ford did on MFT/MLT v 3.8 magically resolve the Ambient light/phone/text ringer issue (thanks ford) and added the call Siri feature ( Thanks Ford).

Lets see posts on how owners are using that added call Siri feature.

  8.

Yeah yeah - we get it.

Let's face it - at this point nothing Ford does would make you happy. Why do you still drive a Ford? Why not trade it for something you like?

OK there we go again by a moderator...

1st REMOVE a quote that I did not say... The "I hate ..." is not in my post and not the message I conveyed!!!

2nd- Snarky reply by a mod is not helpful-" why drive.... why not trade in ..." Does nothing to address MY POINT that was just SUPPORTED by another poster- Mainly- Release notes would be helpful. The positive highlights on what new features you can use & how to use them & even the negatives- what goofs were actually fixed. Geeze we see this all the time in EVERY app on a smart phone- the humility is always there from that side.

3rd my last point on how FORD corporate REFUSED to assist a dealer, regional rep, and a even the regional Field service engineer & wasted many man hours and rental cars expense ( charged back to ford not me paying) you than treated as - no comment on that point- and just choose to highlight ME instead of THEM??? Please!!!

MY recurring points addresses my observations and many other posters... There is always something lacking or something done less than 100%.

  9. Again..DO you think a car company that now sells INFOENTERTAINMENT and uses this to drive sales & increase profits does a customer good by not providing release notes on software versions?

Not providing a quick "how to " use a new feature? Quick bullet points on what the new feature can do and can not do?

That was my point - Hey this new feature calls on Siri. full functionality- or wait---calls on Siri for specific car functionality ...IE it is mainly for reply to text and ..... it may not be able to do .... see Apple help quid .xxx for more details and limits....

You do realize the "been avail in other vehicles AT LEAST 2 Years" is a backwards slap since MFT was 5+ years ago & now we get a feature that was never there after many others get it? and then it is not clear on what it can do?

again...Thanks for at least having it- NOW...been so used to pressing the iphone now that not sure how much I will use...

Won't even get into the SNEAKY way of Corp. slyly fixes items they do not want to admit were wrong- ambient lighting reset, phone & text ringer reset after 20 hours forced reboot in background- which they all deny happens but it does!

Oh yea- after 3 months of a regional rep and a Field service engineer involvement and several weeks of rental car all tied up in the lie of corp messed it up & corp fixes on the sly and won't be honest about it.

Hey at least it was fixed after my and many other posters very detail & long posts- repeatedly. :) Thanks but then break the breadcrumbs., open a case number ^& I watched that be ignored.....

  10. On Apple maps app the audio comes up as iPhone or Sync but Sync does not play unless on the Bluetooth audio stream already

Update... After I played around with the other apps using the phone call feature ...WAZE worked this way...for Bluetooth audio the Apple maps was able to do the same thing I was able to toggle on the audio on iPhone bottom right portion of app and select sync .... This time it worked ..: after work... At lunch it did not ...

  11. SweetCandyEdge...I had the same problem and Shay from IVT requested I run a vehicle health report then check back. It still didn't work for me so she suggested I go to the dealer to get it installed since they know about some VIN's being problematic. My problem is I went to the dealer who told me it was up to date at 3.4 (turned out to be nav version) and sent me on my way. Unfortunately they totally wiped the system so everything was messed up and I had no navigation for at least 30 minutes. I contacted Shay again, she got me in touch with someone at Ford that explained the situation to the dealer and they told me to set another appointment. This time the dealer said the server was down but even if it was up they couldn't do the update without charging $150 since Ford won't cover it....even though Ford said they would. This time when I left, everything was wiped again but the nav seemed OK, its position was a little off but this appears to be normal for this crappy system. Other than that the system was OK for about 10 minutes, then the entertainment screen completely stopped responding to input. It would beep but not change anything. About an hour later it started to work again but there is something wrong with this system other than just software that has NEVER been addressed. Oddly enough when I got home that night the SMR site was working and shows the update as available now. I sent another message to Shay last week telling her my frustrations with Ford and the dealer plus my concern that if I install the software and I continue to have problems the dealer will just blame my install but there is clearly something wrong with this system. I have already paid once to have Ford diagnose the system only to be told it is fine but I have videos that prove otherwise. It is a week later and still no response from Shay. This is my first Ford and likely last...this ownership experience has been nothing but headaches and passing of the buck. Ford says it is the dealer and the dealer says it is Ford. In the end it leaves their customers stranded. Good luck!

1st thing ESCALATE and open a case number. Requested a regional rep. if another dealer around, request another dealer takes up your case due to the service issues. Push till the end with a positive resolve. Do not stop there. You should NOT pay. Definitely after misinformation & mistakes. Trust me and others... patient Persistence will prevail and PLEASE ask for something for your trouble. Ford has complied in past.

  12. Exactly my point. The ambient lighting was fixed in 3.7 but for us owners that could not get 3.7 we were not just left out.

For me when I raised the issue- ford spent three months over the summer spinning around in circles denying that problem even existed and that it was fixed and when I pushed -would not release 3.7 or the relevant part of the fix and when I escalated the issue my dealer go a regional manager involved and then brought in a regional field service engineer and rental car for several weeks for me- all the while Ford people not having a f$&@ clue ... Boy they look like the lying fools of left hand not having a clue what the right hand is doing .... All along I said isn't this a corp. thing & need to reach out to the soft ware engineers- I even directly called the one that sent me the direct reboot app a few years ago- but again forced silence.
Ford messes up will not own up. Release notes for 3.8 or even prior versions do not state they fixed certain hot topic issues.
And now the breadcrumbs feature is messed up but ambient light is fixed.

So long story- a few of us have seen the latest version 3.8 does not have the issue that was introduced on v 3.6.

  13. NOT WORKING AS DESIGNED!!!

As designed was not to fill entire map and not clear out.

NOT by Design when in prior software versions it did clear out.

NOT BY DESIGN is when this "clearing out or not or distance to clear out" has changed over software versions.

Ford was YELLED out back 5 years ago on this topic of it not shutting off then shut off WAY too SOON.

The issue is Ford's CARLESSNESS in not picking a standard and ensuring that "standard" is MAINTAINED on subsequent software releases and not letting it revert back to say some old default setting and being clueless that it did!

  14. update...... So it appears all that effort with ford regional rep and dealer and the Field service engineer and the several weeks they had vehicle and all the back & forth trying to blame my phone and reprogramming the APMI and then replacing the APIM...

and refusing the 3.7 update and not stating that a 3.8 update would soon be released.. and all the lies and run around and wasted 3 weeks of a rental vehicle while dealer tried to listen to the ford "experts"....

all comes down to Ford messed up... tried to fix on 3.7... wouldn't admit that their TSB did not fix all models ... and once 3.8 was installed I have not seen the issue.

Really? All that smoke and mirrors?

  15. Well... I called ford- opened a case number & weeks have gone by with nothing. 3 weeks now ...Several times I have called in with case number asking for a status update...reps have ALL not been able to read back the file notes- transfer call - all claimed to be a supervisors ( five or so names now.. can't be that top heavy at level 1 cust service call center) when you call the 877 #... and they can ot read back proper protocols on escalation.

I have turned feature off & on to reset but I still can drive all week to and from work 20 miles round trip 20*5=100 miles & still see all the white dotes ( breadcrumbs)

So again- the point is... I can turn feature off & see it then not be broken because the feature is off...

...but if I do get "lost" or question who drove the car where- you would need to go BACK in TIME to turn it on to see the results... not practical

I have asked of this is something the dealer can view & reprogram the apim or something on those lines... they are not that savy understand that...

So is this just a feature no one with nav uses so it is below he radar? My observation after several on/off cycles have duplicated the mess of white dots that do not clear..

  16. MFT releases 9/2010---- now 11/2015.... I think Ford made it pretty clear that a feature that was not programmed correctly-they have NO intention of fixing. Shame we live in a WORLD economy but address could not handle USA. And FOrd refused to spend money to correct oversight.

Simple script to uses field 1 address, field 2 city, field 3 state & ignore any other data but Ford refused.

Why- They charge $199 to use their Sync Services and the Map Quest alliance and the Ford destination app & the built in send to nav would defeat that monetization.
