  1. Well after a few days now playing around with the new version, all seems as good as before (I'm one of the lucky ones it seems who've never had any real MFT issues) except! nav. It's often (not always, but often for sure) very noticeably off by quite a bit (several car lengths) when approaching intersections, turns, etc. And where as before (version 2) the map would transition very smoothly across the screen when the car was moving, it's now very choppy at times. Seems they've taken some of the processing power that was previously dedicated to Nav and priorizing it elsewhere? Ah well, should have left well enough alone I suppose...at least the temp is back in the center console LOL.

  2. Not sure about current models, but when we purchased our 2012 Limited, one of the main reasons was it's quieter interior over both the SEL and Sport models we also looked at. Salesman said that the Limited had different windshield (it does say "sound design") and other sound deadening measures taken from the MKX version. Who knows, but it was noticeably quieter than the other versions, and still is a very quiet ride even at highway speeds with snow tires (always a louder tire, no matter the size) on there.

  3. Installed mine today, along with the new A4 maps. Seems fine, and the new map does have some updates for my area that weren't on the previous A3.

P.S. I did a Master Reset, both before and after, based on what I've read on this site - it's no biggie, takes only a couple minutes either way (and about 45min for the overall update). Like I said, seems fine.

  4. Bling or utility ?

IMHO and what I'll prolly end up doing next year after I recover from several set backs this year. Is a set of 17" steel for just about any ford from your local salvage yard.

The important part is the hub diameter and off set. (offset distance is the distance between the flat backside surface of the hub area and the back rim edge.

    2011 Ford Edge Specs

    Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3

    Center Bore: 70.5

    Hardware:1/2 Lug

    Offset: 34-45mm

One important correction there: 2011+ Edge's have a 63.4mm hub, the 70.5mm is for the previous years.

  5. I had my first documented, live, honest to goodness Sync meltdown today...well maybe not a meltdown, but hey it sounds dramatic! But I did finally see the (in)famous "Sync by Microsoft" black screen of death (more drama!) followed by the progress bar with "performing scheduled maintenance" or some such thing. Wasn't even doing anything major, just changing radio channels using voice command when I didn't hear a response; and looked down to see the above (I use voice commands almost exclusively for everything), So now finally after a year and a bit, I feel like I belong or I've arrived LOL! It took maybe a minute to for it all to reset and come back online again, no biggie, but I hope it's not a sign of more to come...anyway just thought I'd share! :woot:

  6. As mentioned, it's all in the driving style I'm sure. And a few break in miles doesn't hurt, don't expect top figures with sitll less than 1 k miles on the clock. Steady state cruise at 60-65mph seems to be the sweet spot in mine and now nets easy 25+mpg. Definitely much over 65 and mpg noticeably drops on the dash display. I'm usually in no big hurry to get places on those longer cruises, just enjoy the ride and decent mpg is sure to follow :shift:

  7. Z1 went away awhile back so I've been using ZFX/Z2 and Z5 in alterantion for the toy cars, and the Z-AIO for the daily drivers, including the Edge. Durability seems to be about the same, and of course it's a bit less time consuming which is fine for the daily drivers again. I also use their wash and the Z-8 which is amazing stuff IMO to bring out that extra bling factor.

  8. I've been using the Zaino system for 10+ years now - I've tried some other products along the way, and no doubt there are some excellent other systems out there, but Z works for me and so I keep going back to it. Some reflection shots of a couple darker colour cars I've owned (Z does seem to work best on dark colours)...

  9. It's hard to keep track of what's what where Ford juggles content packages every year. But for 2012 Canadian cars anyway, I went with the Limited not only for what it has standard over the SEL, but for the options on the Limited that you can't (couldn't) get with the SEL period...and I wanted everything LOL.

    On the items you mentioned:

Vision package: BLIS, was no biggie at first but you get used to it and it been a light, it's very easy to pick up in your peripheral vision. But part of that package is also the cross -traffic alert (or at least it was part of that package in 2012!) which is very useful when backing out of tight spots and you can't see the roadway very well from the drivers seat - it'll even tell you which way the traffic is coming from and I've found it to be very accurate at picking up cross traffic from quite a distance. Rain sensing wipers; I've turned that feature off, doesn't work well.

SONY very nice upgrade over the standard system

    Wood trim...(fake) mehhhh LOL

LED's, ambient lighting etc: nice touches. You didn't mention HID's but they're (or were..again packages change) only available on the Limited and they're a nice upgrade over stock again.

You didn't mention the adaptive cruise control, but I've found this to be a very nice piece and works very very well even in heavier traffic.

If you like "stuff" go for everything you can get, and a couple grand spread over the projected ownership period is a bit easier to take :)

  10. I can't even imagine going through that whole process of having to change to winter tires, etc. That's a whole other world to me since I live in the SE US.

They just just sit in storage in the garage until time for the swap; about a 30 min job with a good floor jack and air gun, no biggie. Winter does suck though if you're into keeping a car nice 'n clean LOL
