  1. Good stuff, glad to hear your first impressions are holding. And to add to the warm and fuzzies LOL, my very similarly optioned '12 is now approaching a year old with nary an issue. Couple things I would like to have seen setup differently on the car, that sunroof control system you mentioned being one, along with a true dead pedal for the driver, and a heated steering wheel (that's available on the MKX and Canadian winters are cold LOL). But again overall, it's been a very very pleasant driving experience including getting me through some nasty winter weather - a great year round, all round car I agree.

  2. Basically as you said - it's a pictorial representation of torque delivered to a particular drive wheel. In normal driving on dry roads the system is biased to the front wheels. When accelerating, or on slippery surfaces, more torque is sent to the rear wheels, or to wheels with the most traction.

Link below is a couple years old, but still applicable I'm sure:

  3. May be as simple as bum keyfob battery or loose connection in there somewhere, but yea the emergency slot should keep you from being stranded. Have the dealer check it out, that's what warranties are for, good luck. :)

P.S. on a related note, this whole IA thing has ruined me - I don't think I'll ever be able to buy another car now without something similar....First world problems LOL

  4. Not that far away from 1st anniversary of owning mine, with absolutely ZERO issues whatsoever - not even from MFT, and yes I use voice commands almost exclusively. As for other aspects of the vehicle, it's roomy, quiet, and with the awd is great for year round use in my neck of the woods what with our severe winters. One more note on the "quiet" thing, since CR mentioned it, and I"m not sure what differences there may be between models, but my Limited version is very very quiet whether around town, or on the highway. It was one of the reason actually after a test drive when both my wife and I remarked on it, that sold us on this one in particular. My wife's Acura RDX is noticeably louder on the highway especially, and it's not even really all that "bad" as far as that aspect goes either.

  5. I have to agree with you 100% about it being stupid. It is also useless and unnecessary, in my opinion. This is the first Ford I've had with factory nav, and compared to my previous GM's, this nav is somewhat behind the curve in some aspects. The GM's don't have an annoying flashing circle and you can edit some of the info off the screen. My gosh, this Ford screen is cluttered with information overload! Maybe that's why they have the circle blinking, so you can find your vehicle on the map!

So far I am very impressed with the Edge and it's handling, MPG, ride and comfort.

You're stuck with the white circle, but you can turn various map features on/off via nav settings - I have mine set to just about everything turned off LOL, cleans up the screen nicely.

  6. Honestly the Edge is not, nor meant to be, a performance vehicle - that's why you see so little aftermarket support. It's a relatively heavy, tall, softly sprung CUV that's intended to carry it's passengers and a pretty good load of cargo, in comfortable, quiet fashion. With a splash of style and techno wizardry :) . Now if Ford decides to make a true "sport" model at some point with the 3.5 Ecoboost, ala the new 2013 Explorer and Flex even, then you'll see a change in focus from some of the parts vendors out there. Until then, enjoy it for what it is. Just my opinion, and we all have one of those though LOL!

  7. Just brain-farting here, but as the remote start is tied in with the alarm system (and won't work if it has been triggered somehow) you may want to check the hood/tailgate closure to ensure it's not sending a fault to the alarm system. Also, any more that two remote starts attempted within a one hour period will also disable the system until a further one hour period from the last attempt has passed (according to the manual).
