  1. So picked my new Ford Edge Sport last Saturday, and I must say Ford has really made a difference in upping the game since my last Edge. I bought it with every option except for the DVD screens, which no one would uses anymore (I don't have small kids). So rule #1, wife won't be driving this, EVER! I let her drive my last Edge twice, and each time there was an incident, sticky tea stains on the steering wheel and rubber/plastic remnants from an exploding party balloon. Yes, I'm going to be anal about anyone even putting their paw prints on it, at least for awhile. I am blown away from some of the features this thing has, and look forward to getting used to all the tech, safety, and luxury features it has to offer. While I thought I had read the manual thoroughly, everyday I'm learning of some new feature I didn't realise it had. The other night at Walmart, and I parked at least a couple of hundred feet away...far far way from any evil shopping carts, and was able to start the car from inside the store! Down the road will upgrade to a performance tune (will be happy with 400hp and 450ft lbs of torque, with a CAI and high flow exhaust system (that growls) Just had my first gas fillup last night, with 94 octane. Will be driving around 150km tomorrow, all highway, at 100kph, will let you know what mileage I manage to achieve.
  2. Ok, so after about 6 months upon installing the actual K&N CAI made for my 2011 Ford Edge, no check engine lights ever, and average fuel economy, based on my aggressive driving, has been around 11.5L/100km, with mostly hyqy driving. It's a very quiet ride, until you floor the pedal, which sounds amazing, and just want to hear more of it, resulting in more gas!! It sounds like it makes a difference to throttle response, but only at higher rpm's and speed, and minimal at best, more bark than bite. However, I tried on a couple of occasions to see if the CAI actually makes a difference to fuel economy. I drove for around 40km at 98kph, or ~ 60mph. I actually achieved 6.7L/100km, or just over 40mpg!! Hard to believe, but when I first bought it brand new, I was averaging 7.3L/100km or 37mpg, same speed and road conditions. I can't believe it actually had some improvement, but needless to say, I won't be driving at a steady 98kph for long periods of time, unless the price of gas goes up 50 cents/liter! After almost 6 years and over 100,000km, this Edge has been very reliable, and have been really happy with it. In the last 6 months I've been searching for a new suv, and have looked and driven everything from Porsche, BMW, Acura, Mazda, and others, only to come back to Ford. I believe I'm close to making a decision, and looks like I'll go with either a 2017 or 18 Ford Edge Sport, in black, with 21" wheels, and all options. Will purchase towards the end of the year when I'm more likely to get ~ $13,000 off list. With my current Edge, I was able to get $12k off list (SEL with leather, pana, and nav), plus all rubber liners and mats, life time oil changes for free, and a trip for 2 to Vegas which included air and hotel! (Yes, I will charge for coming with you to make a deal)
  3. My son asked me if he could plasty dip my Edge, and I agreed. After more than a year a rough winter, still looks great with no peeling or chips. He blacked out the grill, tail lights, badges and emblems, and mirrors. I took it one step further and painted the wheels black as well. (rustoleum glossy black) I actually prefer this look over the original.
  4. From the album: Vince's 2011 Ford Edge

Mine is the one on the right, but used to look like the one on the left.
  5. Yes, speed makes a big difference! I got as high as 37mpg (CDN), or 30.8mpg (US) driving at 60mph on smooth level highways. Try it and see if it makes a difference. Also currently getting 17mpg (US), city, winter driving. Difficult to drive like an old lady when this thing just screams to open it up! Real world (average driving) would probably amount to 25mph hywy and half that in the city, if you're lucky. Oh, btw, I also have a 2011 SEL FWD with about 3000 miles on it.
  6. Yes, have already updated to 2.11 which has 'fixed' some of the bugs, and will DL the 'new' software in early 2012, but with all the tech issues so far, seems more like I purchased a pc (and a MS pc to makes matters worse), than a new car! I don't think this vehicle would win a lot of praise with some of the dare I say computer challenged population who just want to get from point a to b. I love the technology, as long as it works!
  7. Looks like Ford/MS is finally coming out with a 'fix' for most of the issues, in the new year, which will be sent out to all the owners. However, if I read it right, it's only for the US. WTH!!! Seems like Canadians are screwed, AGAIN!! This really sucks if we don't receive the same upgrade. I loved my Edge when I first got it, but take away the traffic, weather, sports info, add sync issues, and other glitches, not to mention the TOTAL LACK of ANY support and looks like FORD will be going down a lot further then they are now!!! This is the 1st Ford I;ve ever purchased, and might just be the last, but not before I (and several thousand others) have a say about it! Wake up FORD!! The net can boost your sales, or seriously HURT them! Do I need to move to the states or just not buy or recommend FORD!!!???? http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-11-09/ford-to-offer-software-patch-to-fix-malfunctioning-touch-screens.html
  8. Oh, almost forgot, color was white platinum (extra 300 bucks)
  9. Picked mine up last month - should have waited another couple of weeks and saved another $1000 from the Costco deal. Got mine for just over 36,400, tax in. Includes the 2011 SEL FWD, roof, leather. sync, nav, same deal around the GTA that everyone had, except I alos got the rubber cargo liner, life time oil changes, and a trip for 2 to vegas. Just a bit dissapointed that the travel services don't work in Canada (weather, traffic, sports, etc) Other than that, I love it! Oh, also replaced the headlights with 55 watt HID's - not as much of a difference as I expected unless I drive with the high beams, which I don't. Replaced the air filter with a K&N and seems to have made a difference, mostly in city driving. Getting 20+mpg city, and 37mpg hywy, if I stay below 100km/hr.
  10. Should have been a blue screen - something we're more used to!! Thanks MS!!
  11. The correct size is 800 X 378 - states it right in the wallpaper screen before you attempt to add an image. It also states it can be jpg, bmp, or others (don't recall right now) I added an image and fits perfectly!
