  1. I am grateful to all you folks for the Fusion forum suggestions and I will join one of those soon. 

     

    However, tonight I was successfully on my way to updating my car and then discovered the hard way that I didn't disable the "auto engine shutoff" feature.  It shut off and I just restarted it.

     

    What are the odds that this works?  Any suggestions?

     

    So frustrated with myself.

There's a 12 page PDF called "Downloadinginstructions" provided by Ford and the typical Windows unzip process is never mentioned.  I know how to do that, but I was trying to follow Ford's very detailed step by step.  Silly me, but I should have known.  Very few of these Ford downloads have gone well for me down through the years.

     

    To your point, the PDF also is clear that the format is to be exFAT.  I will try FAT32.  Thanks.

  3. I haven't been able to successfully do this yet. After finding a FAT32 USB drive, I have attempted multiple tries to download this update to no avail. The downloading process won't even begin on my Firefox browser (it just spins) and when I use my Edge browser it looks like it works, but eventually gives me the message that the file won't download. There ends up being a zipped folder on my desktop that is empty. Tried it multiple times.

     

    What's even more frustrating is the first thing Ford's instruction page tells you (after it let's you know you have an update to download) is to do a Vehicle Health Report. It even states why that is so important, but they've discontinued their service. How is it that I know that, but the person in charge of web content for Ford doesn't know that.

     

    I just gave up and no longer care. I've gotten the black screen of death more in the last year than I ever have in the seven years I've owned this car. I'm sure my APIM is about to die.

     

    Ridiculous.

    Thanks for the detailed description. I may need this in a few months when the rainy season starts back up.

     

    In my previous post, I thought Xuduo Li's trick worked, and it did for a while. But eventually, I ended up having to repeat it every time I started my car. So, I pulled the fuse for the wiper motor in the fuse box under the hood and left the fuse out for about a week. Popped it back in and have had no issues so far.

     

    There may be no cause and effect with what I did, but I'm good for now. I may have to replace the stalk if it acts up with heavy use again in May.

    What I have done was, turn the wipers on, any speed should be fine, during that,push the lever downward(the one swipe mode), during in the one swipe mode, turn off the wipers to 0.

     

    This had fixed my problems for a couple of times. I do not guarantee it will work, but try it.

  6. I did this update tonight. Took 30 minutes and had no issues. All is working well and it's probably my imagination, but the touch response seems to be quicker.

     

    Ambient light setting seems to be holding between starts. We shall see if it holds tomorrow morning. All Nav destinations & presets were unaffected. Phone paired with no issues.

     

    I did forget to reinsert the USB, but I just ran a Vehicle Health Report and the Sync site knows I've got the update.

  7. This thread has been helpful. I'm at the dealership right now and was pleased to find out that the battery (parts and labor) are covered under my warranty which is about to expire. I mentioned all the underneath stuff and they will be checking that too. I have a FWD.

     

    One question though: What exactly is the concern with the door ajar / latch concern? I've never had an issue that I'm aware of.

    "may have a sluggish acceleration or hesitation feel during a rolling stop 0-8 Km/h (0-5 MPH) followed by a harsh bump or feel like a slip on take-off from a stop followed by a harsh bump"

     

     

    I've had this exact event happen on my MKX 3 times and will be asking my dealer about it.

    Well, it took a week, but I got it back today. Thankfully they gave me a loaner that whole time.

     

    Here's what the work invoice says they did on this particular issue:

    Check for loud bang under car on re-acceleration from a coast speed

    CC 42 Failed 7A100 TSB 11-5-6 OM23507

    Road test & verify harsh bump on take off

    Found and performed TBS 11-5-6, R&R valve body

    Remove stated check ball and replace seperatar plate

    Reflash PCM/TCM

    Perform post road test concern corrected

     

    Also under "Parts," they list the plate & gasket (BT4Z-7Z490-B ) and the oil (XT-10-QLVC).

     

    My service guy told me to be patient with the transmission because it may not feel exactly right for the first few days because the system is relearning the way I drive. On the way home from the dealership, it ran well and smooth.

  10. I have a 2011 Edge SEL and my dealer has it as we speak for this issue. They are busy this time of year and they have had my car for 2.5 days. My thump is doing exactly as the TSB describes and my service guy is keeping me updated. Hope to get it back today or tomorrow. Been enjoying a convertible Mustang for a loaner while they've had it which has been a hoot.

     

    Missing my Edge though.

    Scroll down and read the part about MFT. This seems to be the first mention of a vehicle that will have Applink actually working in tandem with MFT, right?

     

    I realize this is new, but it certainly does shed light on the previous stance by Ford about Applink and MFT not ever playing nicely together: http://ces.cnet.com/8301-35289_1-57616498/ford-adding-app-integration-to-3.4-million-cars/

     

    As others have stated here, I would safely assuming this is about Ford moving forward and not upgrading current vehicles with MFT.

  12. This update has not lived up to its promise. I'm still having occasions where my phone doesn't automatically pair and then when I notice it, I try to manually pair to no avail.

     

    The "text to speech" alert is fixed, but I still don't always get alerted by MFT when my phone receives a text. When I do get alerted, the text to speech does kick in just fine, but I don't always get alerted.

     

    With every "swing & a miss" that Ford makes at stabilizing MFT, my hope diminishes of AppLink ever actually happening. Sad.
