  1. Some of you may have already noticed that the Andriod App for Ford's MFT system got an update a few days ago. Lo and behold, the outside temperature is back on the center screen. This issue is being discussed on Ford Sync's "Owner to Owner" forum where I found this statement by a moderator:

    Hey, everyone!

As mentioned above, the MFT Guide is utilized as a dealer-training tool. We're looking to bring the Outside Air Temperature Display back to the touch screen as a customizable option, which is why it is currently showing on the recently updated Android app. This feature will be available in a future MyFord and MyLincoln Touch update, but release timing has yet to be determined. Please continue to check the forum periodically for more information on this topic.

If this has been mentioned elsewhere here on our forum, I do apologize.

  2. Since getting my 2011 SEL, I swapped the stock door speakers for 4 MB Quartz FKA157 speakers and added a 6" Bazooka sub, a Boss Chaos Epic 5 channel amp & a RE-Q5. Got lots of help from this forum and my progression is here:

I bought all my equipment from Amazon and found a local installer with a good reputation that installed equipment not bought from his shop. The installs are warrantied by him, but obviously not the equipment. I am so glad I upgraded my system. Love my Edge even more.

  3. spongers,

Just wanted to say thanks. I printed out this thread and took it to my installer and he understood exactly what you meant and fixed it. He agreed that it wouldn't work when the car is in the on / acc mode and that has proven to be true.

But, I am so pleased with the fact that the system doesn't cut out / cut off anymore. Love it!

    I appreciate your help.

    Peace,

  4. I wanted to add something to the record. Back after the update, I jumped on this thread to vent that I was frustrated by songs and track titles being out of order and not matching. It seemed random, but after many weeks of use and testing, I narrowed it down to two albums and guess what? They are wrong in my iTunes library. Can't blame Ford & MFT for that one. Let the record show.

My MFT 3.02 system is not flawless, but it's improved drastically for me. It's locked up only once for me in the weeks since the update.

BTW, ever since I jumped to the most recent update in Firefox I can no longer pull up the attached thumbnails on this forum. :waiting: Wonder if Ford will do anything about that.

  5. Back in December, I had a 5 Channel Amp, an RE-Q5, a Bazooka sub, & Rockford Fosgate door speakers installed in my 2011 SEL. I am very happy with the results with the exception of one thing.

When the amp senses that there is no signal coming from the head unit, it automatically goes off. In most scenarios, that's fine, but in phone calls, it's problematic. If I am talking for a good amount of time on my end and then stop, the person has heard me just fine, but when they respond and begin speaking, their first few words get cut off until the amp senses the signal and turns back on. I hope that makes sense.

I've done some research here and on other websites and don't have any answers yet. I see no adjustment knobs nor switches on the exterior of the amp to defeat this. There is no help on the amp's website and the manual is incredibly unhelpful. Here's my amp for reference: http://www.bossaudio.com/auto/5-channel-mosfet-bridgeable-car-amplifier-ce2505/

    So here are my questions:

Before I take it back to the installer, is there anything else I can do or check?

Am I asking him to install a "trick wire" to kick the amp on and keep it on whenever I start the car?

Are their precautions I need him to take on installing a "trick wire?"

Thanks in advance for any answers you might be able to give.

  6. I saw the Note in Best Buy the other day. Man, that thing is huge.

When I was doing the research to upgrade my phone, I actually chose my new phone because it worked with the Sync text messaging feature. It wasn't the deciding feature, but it was a nice bonus. I've got the HTC Evo Design 4G and when a text comes in, I normally hit "Listen to Message" with the right steering wheel button and leave it at that. Works well for what it is.

  7. FWIW, I recently had a 6" Bazooka sub, a Boss Chaos Epic 5 channel amp & a RE-Q5 to my 2011 SEL and I am extremely happy with the results. The amp is a 2500 watt unit and I had a local installer do the job. Bought the equipment myself through Amazon.

I did not have the Sony system though, so the tube sits in the back but does not take up much space. It is rigged in such a way that I can easily remove it if I needed to haul something that takes up the whole back area. The amp is under the rear second row seat on the driver's side.

Equipment was about $330 total and the install was about $220.

  8. Hey Scott,

FWIW, I too have had one lock up so far in two weeks of use after my update. It occurred when I received a text message.

Good to have you here in this forum. I'm a big fan of Satellite Guys.

    Peace,

  9. Never heard of them but for a $30 difference I would by the Weather Tech..Which are specifically made for your model year.

WeatherTech doesn't make carpeted floor mats, right? I want carpeted mats.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe the body change affected the floor mats.

I was wondering that too, but did something change between '11 & '12, or does their range just mean they officially don't make mats for the '12 models yet?

    Thanks for the quick replies.

    Peace,

    DM

  10. I am in the market for some nicer carpet mats (not rubber, not vinyl) than the stock ones that came with my '11 SEL. Most of the carpeted mats that I've seen have a real gold or brown look to them that don't come close to the stock color (stone?).

    Today I stumbled upon these.

I like the color. Since there are no reviews, I'm asking if anyone has any experience with these or this company.

    Thanks,

    DM

  11. Wow, that is awful. If you decide to call another dealer, ask to speak with the Service Drive Manager and tell him your experience with the other dealer. I bet you won't get a few sentences into your story before he asks you when you could bring it in. That position lives and dies on how happy customers are with a service department. They are awarded on the collective ratings of the service advisors under them.

  12. I also had the problem with song titles not matching to what was playing on my iPod. As was suggested by another user here, I reset my iPod to factory settings, then synced it with iTunes. That seems to have cleared up my track title problems, as well as album cover issues I was having.

Yes, I know. Sadly, I am that other user & I am now back to mixed up song titles.

  13. Yesterday I had my first crash since the update. An incoming text message essentially froze the system. Chime rang, text message dialogue box appeared on the center screen and when I tried to hit "Listen," I got no response. Everything froze. The right dash screen displayed "Listen" & "Ignore" and I could select them, but nothing happened. A few seconds later, it rebooted itself and went through "Performing Scheduled Maintenance" progress bar after which, I was back in action.

Today on my commute to work, I noticed some song titles are not matching up to what's being played by my iPod.

Other than that, it works perfectly. :banghead: So Ford, thanks so much for the four good days I had with the new update.

    Peace,

    DM

  14. Now I have problems with more cover art and track titles being wrong. I was really hoping they would fix the iPod stuff. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to just show the track name and album cover as it is in iTunes....Perhaps I should just hit the master reset and have it reindex my iPod again.

I've never seen the cover art issues, but some of my track titles from my iPod were messed up after the upgrade. I reset my iPod, synced it to iTunes and then connected it again to the Edge. That seems to have solved it.

    FWIW,

  15. I am also in SW Florida and was excited to hear that my package had arrived!!! I never really had all the nasty issues with MFT that have been discussed here so I was a little hesitant about applying the update.....and now even more so after reading this!! I have a 2011 Edge Sport FWD with ver. 2.11....I'll post an update when/if I install the update......

Well, I'm a happy camper now. Called my dealer and spoke with the Service Drive Manager, told him what happened last night and his first question for me was "When you can you bring it in?" I said "How about now?" He said "Come on. We'll give you a loaner car for the day, but we'll get it done in just a few hours."

Sure enough, I dropped it off and around 8:30 AM and got it back around 11:30 AM. Both checking in and picking up took under 15 minutes each. I already liked my dealer, but man they scored major points with me today.

As to the new updated MFT, it's flawless so far. Most of my previous settings were still there, paired the phone easily, added background pictures back, connected my iPod and then walked through every menu and every option. The system is much quicker and responsive. Voice commands worked great. Love the new look of the Nav and the real time tracking moves much smoother.

    I really couldn't be happier.

The most interesting comment my service rep made was when he was checking me out: "Well, this should take care of you. The first time around, Ford had Microsoft design MFT but had somebody else build it. This time, Ford had Microsoft both design & build it."

    Peace,

  16. Yeahhhhhhh for South Florida!!!!!!!!! Patiently waiting for mine...

I should have been more careful what I wished for. Got mine yesterday and today my Edge is at the dealer. Disastrous waste of time. I posted my experience here.

Assuming I pick get my car back today, I'll have more to tell...

My experience with Ford has been Touching so far to say the least. :rant2:

    Peace,

  17. Well, I've had better afternoons. What a mess! My wife got the blue package in the mail this afternoon and drove it to my work because she knows how anxious I was. Isn't she great?

    :D

That's the most positive part of my MFT update story.

My car was on for over four hours and I'm now officially done...with a center screen that doesn't work and of course, no new update. Just hung up with my third phone call to Ford and they can't do anymore. Gotta take it to the dealership tomorrow.

    For the record:

    1. I had the most recent version of MFT (2.11) and was overall pretty pleased with most everything with my system.
    2. I deleted my phone, did the master reset and was in park with the brake on before I ever inserted the official Ford USB stick for the first time.
    3. First freeze occured installing 6 of 15. Let it ride for 2 hours and then called Ford and followed their instructions.
    4. After the update resumed, the second freeze occured after an automatic reboot happened while installing 2 of 9. Called Ford again and they told me to wait some more.
    5. 45 minutes later, no change. Called them back and was informed that I'll be visiting my dealership tomorrow.

    :surrender:

Going to bed. I'm betting tomorrow will be a long day.

  18. I did free lance work for a company called Posh Pile, they make luxury interior accessories. The boss is a car enthusiast and after not being able to find a quality aftermarket carpet mat for his car - he made them himself. They fit very well in the Edge (photo link below) and here is what a Posh Pile owner had to say about these mats on the company's facebook page:

"These are the best Car Mats on the Market! They are luxurious, thick, extremely well made and worth double the price EASILY. Simply the Best! Thank You Posh Pile!" - Daniel J. McGinnity

Click here to see Posh Pile mats in the Ford Edge. (its mislabeled "focus", someone messed up)

They are only $51.95 on the ebay store, and the website is www.poshpile.com.

So those are the universal mats, correct? I currently have tan mats in my 2011 SEL and the Posh Pile tan color seems too gold / brown. In fact, the eBay pics really confirm for me that the color just isn't right for me.

    Thanks for the option though.

    Peace,
