  1. lamin-x will not effect light transmission whatsoever if you go with their "gunsmoke" which is about a 10% tint. If you go with their charcoal, which is darker (used for the third brake) you will see minimal light lost.
  2. Scoop - lamin-x came in today. here is the first completed set. If you pay today/tonight, i can get them out first thing tommorow morning (or even possibly tonight still if payment arrives fast enough. I will PM you with payment details. Tails are just a bit dusty from sitting Chad.
  3. that looks like a chrome housing with no clear lens correct? just the inset projector bulb? in any case, what you or i can do is shoot the chrome housing to match the color, and lamin-x the projector bulb. that would completely knock out the "white" in the fog area.
  4. scoop - sounds like you have a projector style fog light. can you shoot me a picture? i can always color match the surround and tint the projector. just an idea. chad.
  5. lamin-x is removable. it can be taken off fairly quickly, but is garanteed for 5 years. i can install, or else you can do it yourself. chad.
  6. there is always the fogs the lamin-x hasn't come in yet, i expect it early next week. the other tail is done, but i dont have any new pictures of them together. i'll take pics once the lamin-x comes in. chad
  7. I'm assuming you mean on the front? I would not use the same darkness as what the tails have on them. I would use more of a smoke look, it would not black them out, but it would significantly cut down on the "white" in the front, and give it more of a blacked out appearance. Visibility is not effected at all by the lamin-x, and you should not have any issues with police.
  8. Hey guys - for those of you wanting some of the blackout look up front, keep in mind, i can lamin-x the front fogs, and even headlights. Chad.
  9. The tail light diffusers are not replaceable. once removed, they cant be put back in.
  10. scoop - sorry i didn't answer last night. i was at a switchfoot concert and left my phone in the car. it was late when i got out. Anyways, i have ended up tinting these lenses 3 times to get the color just how i want it. Last time was too dark. These appear dark, but as you can tell by the flash, will not only transmit light very well, the reflectors will also be very easy to see in the dark. The other lens has not been wetsanded and buffed yet, but will probably be done tonight. I'm still waiting on the Lamin-X order to come in. Chad.
  11. Guys (and gals) - wanted to give you an update. I got the mixture finally right this morning for the edge application. It is tricky getting the right mixture to dilute out right. However, it looks as though we have a winner and all appears to be laying/adhering right. I have the lenses in final tint, and will be getting cleared either late tonight or tommorow. One thing i noticed about the edge, is that the main tail light (brake) bulb is housed in a red diffuser. This give the clear tail light a red brake light when the bulb is lit. However, this is going to significantly reduce the amount of light a traditional tail light puts out. For this reason, i would recommend removing these (they are removable), and finding a direct replacement LED "cluster" light. This would give you a red light, without the interference of the reflector. Not only will you not have the reflector, LED's look sweet through tint. Case in point:
  12. ok guys. tails are in. will begin work on them tommorow, they are already prepped. However, the third brake light is unable to be tinted. the only way i can do it is to use lamin-x. I sell and install this product, and can get it to match up just as well with the tails as i would if the third brake light was capable of being tinted using my process. The lamin-x carries a 5 year warranty on it, and i will not charge any additional. The cost will remain the same. Let me know if you guys are ok with this, and we will get this process started. For those of you unfamiliar with the lamin-x product, here is an example:
  13. hey guys, already ordered the tails and third brake in. The third came in yesterday, and it doesn't look like the correct type of plastic i can tint with. Ford likes to use a very soft plastic for their third brake lenses, that is flexible. This plastic does not take well to solvents, and when it comes into contact with the tint, it loves to crack and etch into the plastic. I may look towards an alternative in lamin-x for the third brake lens. I am a seller and installer of this, so i will contact them directly and see what they can do for me. I hate to ruin a 45 dollar third brake light (because i'm 90% positive it wont take to the tint). I'll keep you updated.
  14. ok - so i'm still waiting on a few people to put in on the 50 dollar reservation. Is everyone still planning on doing this?
  15. Scoop - the original colors will still shine through with the new tint. Although the white will be a smidge dimmer, not much. Red will still be red. No worries. As for you driving here, that wouldn't help unless you want to stay in a hotel somewhere and leave me your truck for 3 days. lol. I'm sure a brighter bulb can only help, but i think this new solution will be just fine with the use of stock lenses. No all LEDs are brighter, i've seen some that are actually dimmer than the incandescent stock bulb.
  16. Hey guys, wanted to give you an update. Since it looks like we're getting the ball moving on this, and since we've had a few payments sent already, i'm going to make a new style of solution. Typically in the past, all lenses have been red. In order to make the lens appear darker after tinting, without affecting light transmission more than needed, i have added red and actually purple hues to do this, along with a few other colors. However, on a clear lens, such as the edges, this will give the effect of a pinkish look when the reverse lights are on. Not something i'm sure you guys want. So, i will be making a new solution specifically for you guys. Unfortunately, it looks like scoop will be the first go at this. The third brake light will receive the traditional colored tint i have used in the past, since it is red. Should be a little bit more of a smoked appearance. It will not affect light transmission any more than before, however, since it will be more of a true smoke than that solution i use on red lenses, it will appear to be a little bit more transparent. Just wanted to give you the heads up on this. I will also be making a totally seperate tank to keep solutions separate, so i do not need to change up colors between vehicles. Chad
  17. G - the truck in that picture is medium. You shouldn't have issues with visibility during the day with medium, but if you think about it, 500 feet is asking a lot. That is 1 & 2/3's football fields. WOW.
  18. Hey guys, checking back in. Just for clarification, the 15 dollar shipping coverage is under the core program, not if you send in your own lights. buyer is responsible for supplying shipping to and from me. If supplied with a zip, i can get actual return shipping cost to you. Gfhii - you should not have an issue with light transmission if going with the "light" stage tint. Medium may not meet the 500 feet, but would certainly meet 300 feet. If light is not enough, i can always make special batches of solution to get to a happy medium btwn. light and medium.
  19. the tail lights would be 115, for the cores, but that includes 15 shipping. the third brake would be 35 to tint.
  20. NYEdge - Unfortunately, i do not have pictures of the light tint. Only a handful of people have ever wanted it. It looks like a very very slight gray. I would not recommend tint on the headlights, but if you go with light, there will be minimal light transmission lost. Medium will cut you down fairly well, and dark is show use only, because very very little light can be transmitted.
  21. Hey guys, I went ahead and registered. If you have any questions, let me know if I can help. Look forward to having the opportunity to work with you guys in the future. Chad.
