  1. Ah. Good idea. Yeah, I hear ya...she's pretty easygoing with such things...just like to get her input. Thinking about some 22's from discount tire instead Letting her decide. :) Thanks for suggestions

I went with the 22" TSW Snetterton's and they have been an amazing rim! Couldn't be happier with the look and hardware... I wrapped them with Yokohama Parada Spec-X's, if you shop around.. Discount Tire did my entire setup for right at 2,300 I believe, including the 3yr replacement warranty on each tire.

    Pic's are in my Gallery!

  2. Jackman.. I'd say that maybe one of the best options you have is going to Youtube and actually watching a 3 min video of someone plasti dipping their rims... Also, they normally will spray it on and then peel it off on the how to videos. This way, your wife can see just how easy it is to put it on and take it off if you don't like it. This is what I have to do with my wife... And if she still says no, I normally just do it anyways!

  3. Only if you have the optional $795 voice activated navigation system. Otherwise your trial subscription includes only the regular SiriusXM music, news and talk channels although there are a handful of traffic talk channels for select cities that basically do nothing but traffic and weather reports every few minutes all day and night. Those are on channels 132 through 140 (Miami/Orlando/Tampa-St. Pete is on channel 136).

Both the Traffic and TravelLink are visual aids although the Traffic system also has audible alerts in addition to marking the displayed road maps with colors and icons indicating traffic problems. The TravelLink portion can display a weather map with radar information as well as local forecasts. It can also display a list of local gas stations with their recent selling price, movie listings for selected theaters, sports scores and schedules, and stock prices.

Ahhh OK.. I have MFT but the only option I don't have on my Titanium is Navigation.. Couldn't see spending 795$ for just that one feature, when I NEVER use Navigation, even on my phone. I stay local and when I do travel for work, I take cabs or look at my directions before I leave and remember them.

  4. Traffic and TravelLink are part of the Sirius subscription (technically they're separate add-on features from SiriusXM). Both are activated during the free trial period but after that expires you have to maintain your own Sirius subscription to get the add-ons. Traffic is $3.99 per month and a Traffic/TravelLink combination is available for $5.99 per month (TravelLink gives you weather, gas prices, movie times and other information).

I have a 2013 Fusion Titanium with a 6 month free subscription... Does your above comments come with that subscription? If so, is it only audible updates or is it something that they actually display on your screen such as maps, etc. etc. ?

  5. absolutely no way you would bottom out the stock strut / blow it out, even with the 1.75 drop to the front. I do agree that and alternate strut (even one with adjustable dampening) is always the way to go when available and/or budget allows but a quality sprint on an otherwise healthy OEM Edge Strut will get the job done without any worries. Ride quality is more than acceptable.

Good to know! It has always been something I have wondered on...!

  6. You can expect some good things out of it... MFT has come a long way from when it first started. I have the newest update in my 13 Fusion Titanium and I have not had any problems with it as of yet.. I see myself in your comment above a bit.. I am the same way, i woudl probably just drop it and let it go.. I hate confrontation! I am the same with the MFT, I am a technology guru and do it for a living.. I know that software glitches at times and if you want to play with technology, you have to be prepared for it to not work perfectly at all times. If my MFT was messing up, I would probably just deal with it, if it was tolerable.

  7. Just called Eibach since I didn't see anything on their website and according to the customer service representative I spoke with they have discontinued the sale of their edge products due to low sales. They have sold whatever stock they had for the Edge and have no plans to produce or sell any new items in the future. So to answer my own question H & R only.

HAHA DAMN! Eibach makes a good spring as well.. Sad to see them stop making them! I personally haven't gone with a lowering kit because nobody makes an aftermarket SHOCK.. Just springs.. To me a full set up would be shocks and springs and would make the ride even better.. Instaed, you are compressing a stock shock and hoping it doesn't bottom out and blow out!

  8. To my knowledge, the SD card isn't the only accessory needed for the Navigation. I believe, at least for the 2013 Fusion, you have to have a module in the front bumper area of the car that picks up the GPS for the Navigation.. The SD card just holds the maps and other softwares needed for the two to talk to each other. I opte'd out of the Navigation in my 13' Fusion Titanium, becuase I didn't feel 800$ was needed for a map on my Touch Screen.. However, if you were told that your vehicle had something and it doesn't and the "SALESMAN" will admit that he stated it had it.. Then you have some good ground to go on. As for getting Navigation in the car after the fact, if it didn't come with it.. It's my understanding that you can't do that...

  9. 100% of the forum members here use H&R. They are a very reliable company and produce very good equipement. All edge owners have been very happy with them. But to answer your question, Eibach makes a setup for lowering the Edge as well. They are a very reliable company, but may be more expensive. Not sure what year range they are available for.

Most Ford enthusiasts will tend to only rep what Steeda has to offer. Steedaedge.com showcases the H&R springs and states they are very reliable. That may be why people use them so highly, but again.. I have never heard anything bad about them.

  10. Higher octane is more resistant to pre-ignition and detonation (knock) allowing more ignition timing advance which in turn creates more power. Recent Ford engines - in particular the EcoBoost series and the 5.0 Coyote - have a new power control module (PCM) that incorporates "adaptive timing". The new PCM works in conjunction with the knock sensors to advance the timing as far as practical for the octane of fuel in use so there is more timing advance (hence more power) with higher octane than with regular 87 octane.

Older engines (in particular, the non-EcoBoost 3.5L V6) also have knock sensors but they are programmed to work in the opposite direction. The PCM has a preset amount of ignition timing advance programmed that it will reduce if the knock sensors detect a problem from lower octane or bad fuel. Since the PCM is programmed with its maximum timing advance based on regular 87 octane fuel, using higher octane provides no benefit.

My old LS1 Trans Am was also programmed that way but based on 91 octane "premium" fuel. It would run on 87 octane without damage but the performance and mileage suffered significantly due to the timing being retarded by the PCM to avoid engine knock. On the other hand, it gained nothing by running on 93 octane because it wasn't programmed to advance the timing beyond the 91 octane starting point.

The point is that higher octane fuel by itself will not increase either performance or mileage - additional tuning in the form of ignition timing advance is required to take advantage of the increased octane.

EDIT: I should mention that in some areas of the country, premium fuel is not just higher octane but also ethanol free. That would make a significant difference in both mileage and performance because gas has 35% more energy than ethanol. But I don't think that would apply to you because I don't think there's anywhere in Florida that does that.

Very good info.. Thank you for outlining that. I didn't want to seem like a pest, I just love to learn new things!

  11. Feel free to believe whatever you want but having worked for the largest Shell joint venture in the southeast for nearly 15 years, I can tell you that your results indicate a problem with the PCM in your vehicle not managing ignition timing advance properly or the knock sensors malfunctioning. Because it is a fact that there is no more energy in "premium" (higher octane) gas than there is in regular (87 octane) and therefore a properly functioning engine designed for regular gas will not run better on higher octane gas.

However, running higher octane is probably cheaper than fixing the problem - at least until it gets worse - so I'd stick with it if I were you. Just don't assume it proves anything about octane in gas.

I do trust you.. And that may be the case. But tell me.. How are the new 2013 Fusions putting down more power to the wheel on the DYNO machine with nothing more than Premium GAS. They have the videos and numbers to prove it as well. Regular Gas is putting down around 190 to the wheel and Premium in the 200's. Not sure of the number, but its very loow 200's.

  12. My 07 Edge SEL runs like complete crap if I put regular in my tank.. Trust me, I absolutely want to use regular becuase of the prices here in Orlando Florida but again, regular unleaded will cause my vehicle to run like crap at higher speeds and seems to tug a lot. I even took the vehicle in to have the tranny checked at 75k miles, the technicians said it was one of the cleanest tranny's they had ever seen at that mileage. The vehicle was bought used from a Ford Dealer, but the owner before me was the service manager at that Dealership and had been there for about 20yrs.

I started using Premium in my vehicle, no more rough shifting and it rides like glass at all times now. The MPG seems to be a tad better. On regular unleaded I fill up about every 4 days, but on Premium 6-7. I know I may sound crazy, but I've owned the vehicle for 2yrs now and drive the same route everyday and my habits don't change.. Facts are Facts!

  13. Below are the Spec's of the RIMS on my Edge. I have no issues with them! This may help you, it may not. I read the topic, but not the other posts.... So don't bash if it doesn't help!

  14. You really only get about 1.5" out of the drop. I am pretty sure that the stock shocks I have would be fine, but they have 70k miles on them and just feel that I am half assing things if I only upgrade the coil's.. I am amazed that nobody on here has stated were they got their "Aftermarket" shocks, if they actually have them. With all the gear heads on here that lower their edges, I can't believe none of them didn't upgrade their shocks.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDIT!!!: Mike, I didn't see your post after my original. Thanks for the heads up on KYB, I am currently looking into them. Thank you again, for stating this for me... I am sure others were very curious as well.

  15. Wlepse: Good idea, but honestly in my previous experiences with the "SPORT"... Anything that goes onto an Edge with the word "SPORT" has a $1,000.00 minimum and a mark up of about $999.00.. One reason why I would never buy a sport... I could buy a limited and buy all the sport shit aftermarket and put it on and it would still be $32,000.00 Cheaper! LOL

  16. I stopped at my local shop to talk to my tinter about getting my front window done. I told him that people state about this "Haze" on the front windshield. he stated that you get that haze when using just a normal everyday regular window tint. He did however say that there is a new tint out by Llumar that is made specifically for front windshields and it has a glare to it that is damn near not visible on windshields. I looked at an audi he had just done which was at like 80 Volume which was about 20% TINT. It looked really good. You couldn't see inside the vehicle and it didn't even seem as if it had a tint on it. Its expensive, right at 90$ to do just that front window, were regular tint is 40$ but.. He did show me that before the vehicle was tinted it sat outside for a full day with a temperature meter inside of it. The next day, it was HOTTER outside and after the tint. The vehicle was 20-30 degrees cooler inside at times.. I am sold, and will be doing this to my edge very soon.

  17. But you haven't proven that you've "done it". The builder says it wasn't finished and you have no proof it even works other than "I said so". Coupled with the fact that you're selling it with this story and any reasonable person would be suspicious.

At this point all you're selling is parts that may or may not work as advertised and may or may not be complete. You can't expect people to shell out big bucks just on your word without any proof.

I will rest my case with the two above posts.. Glad they got to it before I did because I may not of been as nice. You can look at the history bub, I have always prided myself in helping members on this forum. IF I remember correctly, this vehicle is a CUV not a drag racer. We can talk about who's is biggest in the pants but at the end of the day, they all do the same trick!! Having your turbocharger is nice and all, and if its true and really yours then GRATS on having something that maybe not a lot of people have. But when you come off the way you do, it seems very suspicious.. Especially when you can't post a bill of sale, videos of it running or dyno's. If this kit is worth 10k, i'd personally be selling it for around 6k.. I can tell you that Akirby, K300C, Dingo and other members are all very legit members and i'd even have a hard time paying them 100$ on this forum for something.. They are just names on a screen at the end of the day.. So for someone to trust some college kid with a ton of money for a turbocharger that the seller knows not that much about, i'd have a hard time doing and believe that 100% of the members on this forum would as well. Have a great day kid!

  18. How come no one invited me to this hi-jacking? I want in. I'll restrain myself and not comment on Eatintup's school girl squeal. My 2 cents, I like the front end of the MKX. With cars looking more and more alike, I enjoy seeing car companies taking design risks. (I'm sure some in Lincoln's marketing department hate it though, because bold looks tend to alienate a portion of their potential customer pool). What I'm really looking forward to is the new Navigator.

OK, Eatinitup, cover your mouth with both hands. No squealing from you on this........Check out this freaking front end!

HAHAHAHA, Now this looks good!! It truly does, I would own it.. AS LONG AS: It looks the same when viewing from a sideview!!.. Still like my Edge though!
